Ambrose leaned against the kitchen counter, arms crossed as he listened to Ever explain. His sharp gaze never left her face. "So let me get this straight… You're moving into a 'campaign-funded' house for three months?"
Ever nodded, keeping her expression neutral. "Yes, the project was proposed by Matteo and Sophia. They're handling everything. Allesandro is only involved as a sponsor, nothing more."
Ambrose tilted his head slightly, studying her. "And you really expect me to believe that Allesandro Wales, the man who has never been just a sponsor in anything, will keep his distance?"
Ever forced a casual shrug. "It's a business opportunity. There's nothing personal about it."
Ambrose let out a dry chuckle. "Right. And you expect me to believe you weren't the first person he called about this?"
Ever avoided his gaze and reached for her coffee. "Does it really matter? The kids will love it, and I need this for my boutique's exposure."
