David arrived back at the hotel at midnight as usual, but this particular night, he found Violet in the bar downstairs waiting for him. Even a blind man could notice her from far. He radiant beauty couldn't be ignored.
She was cheerful and seemed to respect the boundaries as she got up to greet David. She was in a black dinner dress paired with black stiletto, her expensive perfume floating in the room. He hair cascaded beautifully on her back as her eye lashes moved like butterflies each time she talked.
"Let me buy you a drink, David. Apology for going out of line last time. Then we will go to our separate rooms," Violet said demurely.
"That is the first thing you are buying me. Thank you, Violet." David said, chuckled.
"There will be many more. I am learning," Violet said as David was handed a glass of whiskey on the rocks.
Violet was happy and calm as she asked how David's day went. Maybe they could get on. Maybe they could have the child of the promise and live their separate lives. Maybe. He watched her sip her wine while he had whiskey.
"You are very beautiful, Violet," David said, sipped his whiskey.
"Thank you. You are exceptionally kind tonight, baby," Violet said, smiled.
"I always am. Just don't pile pressure on me and …" David paused. His body was heating up. "Have you drugged me, Violet?" David got up and stumbled.
"Let me help you to your room, baby." Violet got up to help David.
"Why would you drug me? What is wrong with you?" David was sweating and needed to have sex.
"I felt you needed a little encouragement, my love." Violet got close but David pushed her off.
"Get your hands off me!" David bellowed.
David made calls as he left. He was picked from the hotel a minute later. He cursed as he battled a full on erection. It wouldn't be nice for that chauffeur, or anyone else, to see him that way.
Violet was mad. No matter what anyone said, Violet was mad and that betrothal had to come to its speedy end. His family would skin him if they so wanted. Anything was better than putting up with Violet. He wouldn't be anywhere near her.
Left to him, there would be no child of the promise. Only Asia knew that. David cursed as the car pulled into another fancy hotel. He was sneaked in.
Henry, David's friend had travelled too for a different business meeting. He had been with David every evening. That night, they had been together and he hadn't expected his call.
Henry saw the condition David was in, helped him out of his clothes and off to bed. He went down on David for a quick relief. Then again and again. He could tell David had taken the blue pill. But why?
It took two hours of work for David to return to his normal self. He laid in bed and felt exhaustion sweep over his body. He thought of Violet and cursed. This time, she had gone to a point of no return.
"So what was that about, darling?" Henry asked.
"Well, Violet drugged me to make me bed her," David said.
"I am ending that betrothal. Violet is mad. Also, I think she is pregnant," David said laying on his back.
"For you?" Henry asked, laid on his back too.
"No. I cannot be with a woman. She is trying to pin it on me," David was sure of it.
"So why not let her have the baby, pretend its yours and get the pressure off your back?" Henry asked.
Surely what mattered was a child. If David said he was responsible for the pregnancy, nobody would doubt it. Maybe only Asia. Then the pressure to have a baby would go down and David would live his life. But no, David wouldn't take shortcuts.
"The child of the promise is the heir to everything. Violet does have what it takes to raise such a child." David said with conviction.
"What about the sister?" Henry asked.
"Asia is perfect for the task but she would kill me first, I tell you," David chuckled. at midnight as usual, but this particular night, he found Violet in the bar downstairs waiting for him. Even a blind man could notice her from far. He radiant beauty couldn't be ignored.
