That evening, Asia rushed to the apartment she shared with Violet, paid for by the Mara family. It was amazing, in the leafy suburbs. Violet didn't even work. She didn't have to. Ever since the betrothal, she had everything provided for her. Yes, there had been a betrothal, years ago.
Asia rushed to her bedroom and grabbed a shower. Allan was not amused they had to cancel on the out of town weekend. But Asia would try to compromise, would still go to his place Friday night after that dinner. She couldn't afford to be late for that dinner.
Asia wore a white dress Allan liked. She wore make up lightly then the perfume. While she dashed out, I almost crashed into Violet. She was in pyjamas, straight out of sleep. She hugged Violet.
" Late for a date. How are you sister?" Asia asked fast.
"I feel sick. But don't mind me, you go have fun " Violet said, yawned.
"Call me if you need me. If not, I will see you at dinner tomorrow," She planted a kiss on Violet's cheek and quickly left.
Asia let herself in as she had a key. There was an aroma floating from the kitchen. She dropped her purse on the couch and walked to the kitchen, joy filling her heart. Allan was an excellent cook.
She found him pouring wine into two glasses. He picked her up and spun her round while she giggled. He spoke of that pleasant scent and planted kisses on her naked shoulder. Then he put her down and held her cheeks for that kiss. Asia giggled. She hadn't seen him for three days only. She felt his hands caress her back gently. She focused, felt her body give in.
They were interrupted when Asia's phone rang. David. No, she wouldn't engage him. There was no way that was good news. It was one thing to keep his secret. But interrupting her moment? She turned off her phone as Allan brought food to the dining table.
The lounge was big enough for an L shaped couch and a four sitter dining table. There was only one bedroom and she would spend the night as she did on many occasions. She had everything she needed right there. Work clothes wouldn't be an issue. But seriously, why did David call at night? He had never done that. Asia would wrest him to the ground and it wouldn't be the first time.
They sat to eat five minutes later. Allan didn't seem to mind that the weekend plan was cancelled. Asia would sleep over on Saturday and they would still enjoy their lazy Sunday. He would make pancakes and they would enjoy them in bed then to the next week.
Allan watched Asia eat the beef steak. He seemed to have something on his mind. She sipped her wine, licked her lower lip suggestively then asked him. He held her gaze, smiled and assured her he had only good things in store.
Allan spoke of his love. Asia was all he thought about, all the time. She giggled. Then his phone rang. Asia snatched it and answered. How did David get that number?
"David, I am on a date …" Asia began.
"I need you now. Come out." Really?
"No," Asia said flatly.
"I am coming up to get you. I am at the parking bay," he wasn't joking.
"Give us free day tomorrow and I will come out," She said, hang up. "Allan, my boss needs me. I will be back a little late but we will get to lie in. I am sorry," she felt guilty.
"It's not a problem. Let yourself in. I will be in bed, waiting for you," he smiled, winked.
David drove a range rover. Black. He had ditched the chauffeur. Asia got in on the passenger seat, buckled up and looked out pouting. David just sat there for another minute.
He drove while Asia zoned him out. She never should have got this familiar with him. But how could she help it? There was always something light between them. She always saw a thousand ways she could taunt him.
But she was the only one. David was cold with almost everyone else. He was strict and had high walls. No one understood what he and Asia talked about. Not even Violet.
Asia had never been to that club. She got out the moment the car got to a stop. David went round, offered her his arm and in they went. Asia looked around and cursed. She was the only woman in a group of about fifty men.
David had taken her to a gay club and being Mara, no one dared ask of Asia's presence. Asia knew why he would never bring her sister there. He took her straight to the counter then a familiar face came. They hugged.
"Darling, you didn't tell me your friend will be here," Asia told David.
"I told you she won't let it pass," David told the man.
"Hello, I am Henry," the man said, his hand on David's shoulder.
"Asia. His sister-in-law," Asia smiled genuinely.
"You guys have fun. I will be right here," She sat, and rested her elbows on the counter.
Asia chatted with the bartender briefly, had cocktail, took out her phone and texted Allan. He had received the notification. He had the next day off and seemed happy.
Asia apologised for ruining their night. She cursed David. He should have told her he would go out with her. Yes she would have objected but at least she would have expected it. Now while David had his fun, she sat there wasting time.
What if Violet found out about the night? Asia would die first before mentioning Henry. But David would tell Asia what his end game was. Asia toyed with the cocktail as she could see David drink away. There was no way he would drive home.
While she watched, those two disappeared into an inner room. This soon to be dad had a lot of explaining to do. Violet was definitely pregnant. That was what that dinner was for.
Asia brooded and had her cocktail. Her sister wasp expectant while the man responsible was busy acting single.
David came back. He asked to leave. Asia held his arm. He was a little more drank so she grabbed the key. They would hold a conversation while sober. She drove back to Allan's.
Once she parked the car, Asia stared at David. He seemed a lot more drank than when we left the club. Maybe he was stressed about the pregnancy.
There was no way David would go back to his place. Asia went round and got him, helped him up to Allan's place. He dropped on the couch and immediately fell asleep. Allan came to find Asia trying to take off David's shoes. He brought a blanket, covered David then they left for bed.
