The bell rang and Grayson was beyond bored, but he found himself studying Dawn, she was simple and very quiet.
She wrote a lot and listened very attentively, as if sensing his gaze she turned and he did not look away. He did not give a shit that she knew he was watching her. Her cheeks bloomed in color and she looked away.
The bell rang, and it woke him up. Classes were over and he was thankful that he had gotten in a good nap.
The bell rang and Dawn was ready to go back as she wanted to clean, then take a nap. She was confused as to why Grayson was looking at her.
She was walking, maybe he found her weird just like everyone else and now he was repulsed by her. Her heart beat fast when she remembered when he looked at her in the eye and he did not look away.
When she got back home, Dawn was ready to clean. She was beat but had no choice. After cleaning the house, she realized that it was close to dinnertime and began cooking.
Grayson's mom would be probably coming late as she was a surgeon, so she would do the cooking. Anything that made it simpler for her was what she would do.
Dawn started on dinner, and the door opened. She tried to be calm; she hoped that he would go to his room.
Yet he came into the kitchen,
"Good thing you're making dinner. I'm starving."
Dawn nodded, trying not to give anything away, "Okay, should be done soon."
He went to his room and when he came back down, she had put two plates on the table. She dished up, and sat down.
Dawn was shocked when Grayson did not take his food to the living room, rather he sat opposite her.
He had a can of beer and he popped it open, and he drank, she was surprised that he could drink. They were eighteen, and it was a school night.
"Your judgemental eyes tell me everything."
She blushed profusely, "Sorry."
"Why are you sorry?"
"For looking at you like that."
"You're something else. I don't give a shit what you think."
She nodded, "Noted."
"You must think I'm an asshole."
"No," she replied softly.
"You don't have to bullshit. I like honest people."
She did not know the risk that she took. "I enjoy your company."
Grayson scoffed, "Of course, what can you say?"
"I mean it."
"I know. You don't have anyone to hang out with."
"You're right."
"Your dinner is amazing."
She lit up, "Thank you."
"Where did you learn how to cook?"
"My mother came late all the time and she was tired, so I learned how to cook from a young age."
Grayson nodded. "That's remarkable."
She was surprised by his response. He was not rude to her, but it seemed as if he was comforting her a bit.
When they finished dinner, she went to the kitchen and began washing the dishes and clearing up everything.
When she was done in the kitchen, it was time for her to work on her project. It was due soon, and she loved to double-check her work.
Dawn had to take out earplugs, the music that came from Grayson's room was very loud and she needed to focus.
The project was hard. She was editing all the pictures and noting down everything that she had found.
There was a knock on the door.
"Come in."
The door opened, and it was Grayson's mom.
"I've been meaning to talk to you Dawn, how is the cleaning?"
"it's great mam."
"Your cleaning is excellent and the food you made was amazing."
"Thank you." She beamed.
"What are you working on?"
"We have a huge assignment due, so I want to finish it so that I can double-check it."
"Grayson told me about the group assignment and I know that it was all you."
She nodded, not knowing how to respond.
"Please, if you can help Grayson out, that would be great."
"I will mam."
"Let me leave you to it."
Dawn did not know how she would approach Grayson. His mother counted on her to help him and she provided a roof over her head. She was thankful and would try her best to pay back.
She went downstairs to clean and could hear that the TV was on. She went to the living room and found Grayson on his phone and half-heartedly was on his phone.
"Um....."
"What the fuck! You scared the shit out of me."
"Sorry, I did not know that you had not heard me coming in."
"The TV is on, so you could have alerted me."
"I tried to right now...β¦."
"Whatever, do you want to say something`?"
The way that he responded to her made her want to hide in a hole and back down. She took a deep breath, Dawn had nothing to lose.
"Your mom wanted me to help you with your assignments and grades."
"My mom?"
"Yes..."
"Fuck sake, now it's two of you bothering me, give me a break."
"I can adjust at any time that you need me to and we can tackle any subject that is needed for tests and assignments."
"You're acting as if I have already agreed to it."
"It's your mom. You can't refuse her."
Grayson scoffed, "You think that I would care as to what she says? I can do as I please."
"I understand, so you don't need any help?"
"I do need your help."
Dawn was happy at his response. "With?"
"When you're done cleaning, you can come to my room. I'm going to take a nap." As he stretched,
She started to clean and when she was done; it was time for homework. After changing into comfy clothes, she knocked at Grayson's door.
