Chereads / Embrace me with your wings / Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Everything spins before my eyes as I sit down on the couch and watch the couples dance. Thomas rests his head on my shoulder, and then we both burst into laughter. I see Victor watching us, and he crinkles his eyebrows when the demon puts his hand on my knee. I don't mind. I feel like I've taken some kind of intoxicant. I'm happy, and I can do literally anything at the moment.

- Apparently we were in a relationship, you witch. How can you play with another in front of my eyes. So what if I died? I'm still with you!

I put my hand to Thomas's cheek, looking at my ex-boyfriend with amusement in my eyes.

- Come on. Our relationship from the beginning was more like a friendly relationship. I don't even know if I loved you. I just felt good around you.

The boy looks indignant at my answer.

- It's a good thing I died, then I would have continued to form a relationship with a mean-spirited woman like you. - He is offended by my words, but I am telling the truth. There was no feeling between us. We just had fun together. Victor was also aware of this before his death. We were together for quite a long time, and neither of us said the magic words like "I love you" to each other. - If it's not love that keeps me here, what then!

- It's obviously me! - I wrinkle my eyebrows. - I care about you, and I can't imagine you leaving me now. For you, I even signed a contract with a guardian angel, and it's almost like a contract with the devil.

I look at Andy, who, dressed as a rebel, is acting like a contestant on the popular show "New Jersey Crew" today. Lisa pours alcohol from a bottle directly down his throat, and I just shake my head at this. I'm sure he will bring serious problems on himself.

- Don't lie. You didn't sign that contract for him, you signed it for yourself. You were afraid of death. Furthermore, you didn't want to die at such a young age.

- Where did you come from... - I'm horrified that Thomas can decipher me so easily. - Can you read my mind?

- If I could read your mind, I would have wilted from boredom long ago.

- And why is that supposed to be?

- Because you don't think at all.

His answer amuses Victor. The ghost plops down on the couch, but forgets the important lessons taught by his teacher and once again penetrates the sponge.

If Thomas doesn't help him, he will stay there for all eternity.

- What are you going to do this time to free him from there? - I turn to the demon.

The boy puts his arm around me as he puts the glass to his lips, the ice cubes buzzing in my ears.

- He will sit there for a long while because he is not doing the tasks assigned to him. It's a punishment.

- And what did you teach him?

- Many sins. - He smiles sinisterly as I look at his face. - For example, how cats should eat mice.

I roll my eyes as he makes jokes again. Very funny ones. You have to admit, he's a witty fellow.

The party gains such momentum that Andy dances on the bar with a bottle in his hand. Lisa cheers him with deep appreciation, and I just watch as he spills alcohol on the heads of the partying people. The clubbers rather have visions and think it's rain, as they toss their hair like horny Brazilian dancers.

In a word, quite a bit of chaos ensues.

The party ends when the angel's head starts spinning and his face falls directly to the floor. The club undergoes an earthquake, and people begin to flee rushing, as all the bottles fall off the shelves and smash on the ground.

- Is he going to be okay? - I ask the demon sitting next to me, looking at a sore Andy with compassion.

- Don't worry. He has a head of steel, so only the rust that makes him old will fall off, and he will be like a newborn. You'll see what I mean.

I probably look funny as I sit on the back of a dead boy who is practicing how to keep in touch with people so as not to penetrate them like a soap bubble. At first, I fell on the sidewalk a few times and rip my knees off, but Thomas was busy as he leads a rebellious friend by the hand, so I couldn't make him a camel. My legs hurt, so I use my spirit to do it. I'm sure it will be a great lesson for him.

Now I understand what the demon meant when he announced that Andy would be like a newborn. He just had all his rusty neurons fall off and is acting like a fool, albeit a wise fool. Not everyone loses their senses after a blow to the head, but instead gains new skills. Consider, for example, that currently he knows all the languages of the world and sings songs that I hear for the first time in my life.

- White roses, white roses.... - With his hand, he points to a woman who is walking in front of us dressed in a black coat. It is decorated with white roses, and Andy looks as if he fell in love with her at first sight.

The twins can't stop laughing, and I cringe my eyebrows as the passing couple looks at me as if I'm haunted.

- Loving her, she floats in the air. Is this magic? - The girl turns to her boyfriend, and I stifle a laugh.

- I am Jasmina. Aladdin's wife," I reply.

The boy twirls his finger near his head, letting her know that I have something wrong with my head. And let them think what they want. More amusing now is Andy, who sings songs in a language strange to me.

- Do you know Satan's favorite language?

- It's our father's language, so we know it very well. We love to curse in Polish. - The twins respond simultaneously as Andy walks away from them and grabs a lantern.

They look over their shoulders and see a red-haired, beautiful woman standing across the street, exuding a golden glow in the darkness. An angelic woman from the board of supervisors appears in the flesh to deal with an unruly child who has decided to rebel.

- Oho, someone will be in trouble," Thomas says with amusement in his voice, while his sister measures the angelica with a hateful gaze. She thinks this is the very main star in the sky that makes every angel's heart beat faster.

I scratch my head, not understanding what is just happening before my eyes. It's a good thing we're in some side street where occasionally someone walks by, because people could be witness to something phenomenal.

- You're a redhead - ad, definitely a redhead. Crazy redhead, I know it well. - I wrinkle my eyebrows when Andy does a strange-looking dance by the lamppost, pointing his finger at the beautiful woman. - Crazy redhead, or downstairs too?

Lisa opens her mouth in indignation. Her twin brother even chokes on his laughter, probably knowing the language well, since it is adored by Satan himself.

- Has he gone mad? Has he really lost all his neurons after that fall? - I turn to Victor, who only shrugs his shoulders in response.

- Not brunettes, not blondes, I prefer redheads! - Lisa is already gritting her teeth out of anger, and he unnecessarily provokes her. - Already poured redheaded vodka, gastric works wonders!

The angelic woman stops in front of him and measures him with a stern gaze.

Is Andy not afraid of her at all? After all, she looks as if in her head she is preparing the most cruel, sadistic punishment for him!

- Your rebellious concept is adorable, but this time I'm not going to turn a blind eye to your antics. You got away with it last time," she turns to him in a calm, melodious voice. - Your friend will come back with me to serve his punishment. I must take care of him before he loses his title. - I see with what superiority he looks at the demons when he speaks to them. - You wouldn't want this to happen, because the loss of the Guardian's wings involves your death. - Eventually he turns to me.

What a bitch! Is she threatening me?

I watch as she grabs Andy's hand, and together they disappear like soap bubbles. I am shocked. What punishment has she prepared for him?

- When will he return? - I ask the others, hoping they will give me a normal answer. - He will be fine, right?

- I'm afraid he won't come back to us soon. He has to serve his punishment for his disobedience, or else they will degrade him. - Thomas walks over to his sister and puts his arm around her. - And you don't sulk.

- How can I not sulk when he was taken away by that red-haired hag!

- At least he ended up in paradise with a beautiful woman. - Thomas shrugs his shoulders, ignoring the fulminating gaze of the twins.

More days pass, and Andy still doesn't return. I have no idea what punishment he was given for his disobedience, but I get the impression that in this house I'm the only one who worries about him. Thomas keeps telling me in my ear that he will be fine, because the angelic usually goes along with handsome colleagues. I don't understand what he's talking about, but when he subtly smiles at me, I have no doubt why Lisa hates the red-haired beauty so much.

The blonde, until she bursts from the inside from this jealousy.

- "That's what I meant when I told you that she took Andy to paradise," she claims, reading Fifty Faces of Grey in reverse. I wonder if it's all right with him, because I can't understand why he needs this idiotic ability? After all, it's not relaxing in any way. - And don't look at me that way.

- Do you understand anything, reading a book like this?

He is knocking me down with his eyes.

- I just pretend to read. I like to look intelligent," he announces, correcting the glasses on his nose.

- Do you think that reading this series will make you look intelligent in our eyes? This book is a sham. It only gained popularity because of the sex scenes. Furthermore, something for me. - I snort under my breath.

Thomas puts the book down and smiles mischievously.

- I don't read this book because I know what's in it. I know it by heart. - I pull down my eyebrow and look at him like an idiot. Maybe now he will tell me that he is a ghostwriter and "Fifty Faces of Grey" is his work? - I was by the author's side when she wrote this novel. I whispered in her ear all the bawdy scenes that were revealed in her thoughts.

- Are you making fun of me?

- Of course," he answers directly, and his attention is caught by Victor, who comes down to the first floor. - Come up to me, my friend. - He beckons him with his finger and whispers something in his ear, specifically without taking his eyes off me. He wants me to be angry with him. - So let's agree?

- Let's do it.

I watch them as they walk out of the house together. I'm not going to get into it any longer. Victor is clueless if he thinks the tasks the demon entrusts to him won't reflect on his eternity. He will still cry when they send him back to hell.
