I scrolled through my phone, sipping my cappuccino at a small café in Paris. The sun was warm, and Hannah was busy taking pictures of her croissant like it was some kind of masterpiece.
I was supposed to be enjoying this. I was in Paris, away from all the drama. But I couldn't relax. Not when my distraction post had spread like wildfire. People were making up all sorts of theories—some thought Damien had a secret surgery, others said he had an illegitimate child. The comments were crazy.
But then, I saw something that made my stomach drop.
"BREAKING: Billionaire CEO Michael Grayson ARRESTED in connection to an ongoing scandal. Sources say the arrest was ordered by Damien Steele."
I froze.
Michael Grayson. Damien's best friend.
I read the article quickly, my heart pounding. It didn't say much—just that he was taken in for questioning about a "corporate cover-up." My fake scandal had started something real.
