Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

"I was told you will be here", Sergio stopped before them.

His gaze pierced Jane's back since the woman found the kitchen island more interesting than anything else.

Phoenix stood up, picked up her platter and nudged Aubrey to do the same. When Jane saw that they were leaving, she too stood up and tried to follow them but a firm grip on her arm held her still.

Jane gasped softly and gazed up at him, her brown gaze unsteady as she tried not to look at him.

Sergio frowned, he didn't like that she wasn't looking at him.

"You don't get to leave too", he murmured and left her arm.

Jane immediately grabbed the part he was holding and rubbed it, attempting to rub tingles away.

Sergio frowned at that too but chose not to say anything, instead he sat down where Aubrey stood up from.

"What do you want me to whip up for you Don?", Rory asked Sergio who shook his head, his gaze on a mute Jane.

"I'm good Rory. Thanks"

Jane sat down and picked on her food. It was safe to say that if she had planned to annoy Sergio, her plans were working splendidly.

"How was your first training?", Sergio asked.

Jane nodded her head.

"It was good", she whispered.

She was shy around him and she didn't know why. If anything she too was angry at how she was behaving and wanted to snap out of it but Sergio's touch gave her goosebumps and his heated dark gaze heat her body up.

"Do you feel sore?", Sergio pried further.

"Phoenix didn't hit me, she just showed me some moves. Defense mostly, she wanted me to try some hits but apparently I hit like a baby", Jane mumbled but a small smile was playing on her lips.

A smile subtly lifted the corners of Sergio's lips.

He stood up and Jane's gaze shot up to him.

"Come", he told her and she furrowed her brows in confusion.

"I want to take you somewhere", he assured her when he saw her questioning look.

Jane jumped down from the stool and followed the tall man who's broad shoulders made it impossible to see anything before him so Jane jogged to walk by his side.

"Where are we going?", she asked.

"You'll see", he murmured and opened the door to the black sports car that was parked in front of the villa, for her.

The car came alive with a gentle purr as Sergio eased it out of the compound and into the highway that was connected to the villa.

"Why did you keep the mafia house this far from civilization?", Jane looked around as they drove past trees.

"Secrecy. Nobody comes around here, it is a restricted area and it's always best to stay away from people. Anything can happen anytime and people can get hurt. We can protect our own inside there but what happens to neighbors?", Sergio explained.

Jane nodded her head to herself, that's reasonable, she thought. No wonder they have it all in there. In her three days of getting to Mors Certa villa, she observed that there were so many people in the villa. From Mafia members, to guards, to maids and ground workers, she even saw that there was a whole hospital in the villa.

The villa was built big enough, with facilities and more buildings to support that amount of people.

"That's thoughtful. I thought mafia people were always selfish and didn't care about people", she said.

Sergio scoffed and cast a side glance at Jane who was still in her workout gear.

She looked great.

"What? It's a general perception", she defended herself.

"I didn't take you for a judge", Sergio mused and drove off the highway, into the woods.

"Okay. Where are you taking me?", Jane looked around, into the dark woods with powerful trees that they were driving into.

"You'll see", he mused, amused at her apprehension.

"I'm seeing. Where...."

"We're here", Sergio mused and stared at Jane.

"It's a cave"

Sergio only hummed and came down to wait for her to do the same.

"Okay Jane. Chill out. If he wanted to kill you, he would have done it inside his villa, where nobody can hear you", Jane said to herself.

She opened the door and followed after Sergio who started going into the cave when he saw that she came out.

"I hope there are no animals in there", Jane called after him.

After a short hike and silence they came to a waterfall inside the cave. It opened up beautifully to the clear skies above them and shrubs and flowers grew all around the cave.

"A waterfall in a cave in the woods? Wow", Jane walked forward, amazed.

"How did you find here?", she jumped on the ball of her heels and swirled around to face Sergio.

"I was out and wandering when I found it. I now come here to breathe", Sergio mused.

He came to stand beside an excited Jane who still bounced around like a puppy.

"It's so beautiful", she gushed.

"It is", Sergio murmured but his gaze was not on the waterfall, it was on Jane.

"I bought the place after discovering it", Sergio shared, his dark gaze still on Jane.

She turned around and gazed up at him.

"This place seems personal", she tilted her head.

"Mmm"

"Why did you bring me here then?", she asked him.

Sergio looked at her, from her frizzy hair to her workout gear that she didn't change out of. He held her gaze and the sadness that was openly displayed in her brown orbs no matter how much she smiles rubbed him off the wrong way.

"I figured you could use a quiet place every now and then", he told her.

Jane nodded her head and turned to the waterfall. She did need some quiet time and a place to hide away after all so with that, she walked further into the lake that the waterfall was pouring into and sat just by the side with her legs dipped into the lake.
