Kaiser stared up at the screen trying to keep his expressions in check as he read the contents.
The objective of the game was simple enough, he needed his team to win the match with at least a goal or an assist, which was doable.
[Reward: Vision level 1 ]
"Vision? I wonder what that does." Kaiser mumbled to himself. Under his breath and took a moment to scan his surroundings one more time.
There were some subs that Kaiser hadn't taken note of earlier that sat on the bench and would come into the game later on.
The number 10 spot fit Kaiser well as he had good passing and shooting abilities, so he could be involved in the buildup and attack simultaneously.
Kaiser's team appeared quite imbalanced on paper as Joshua, Solomon, Hezekiah and himself were quality attackers, but he hadn't seen much from his defenders and goalkeeper. That was partly his fault though since he didn't pay much attention to them.
Peter's team was more balanced in that sense, Peter and Gift were standout talents for sure but the rest of them were more balanced in their abilities. Especially Fred, instead of playing a 4-3-3 attack Kaiser suspected they would play a 4-3-3 defence since they had a holding midfielder in Fred.
So many thoughts were running through his mind and as captain, it was his job to analyze the game and give orders to his teammates where necessary.
By this point the timer had been set up and the crowd of parents and scouts alike had settled into their seats which surrounded the park.
"The match will begin now!" The referee said as he raised his whistle to his lips and blew a gust of air into it.
"Fweeeet!"
And the game had begun, Peter immediately played the ball back to Fred and team B began passing the ball between themselves.
Their passes were short and accurate, they didn't seem to be rushing as Kaiser's team began to slowly press into their half. This went on for about the first 5 minutes of the game.
Kaiser's teammates would try to press and the opposing team would simply play the ball backwards to their defenders. It seemed they were trying to play with the mindset of controlling the game and slowing down the tempo.
Kaiser was not panicked and knew eventually his team would gain possession. However, he was more experienced and mature than the rest of his teammates.
"Everyone maintain our shape, don't press them recklessly, they'll try to counter us-" before Kaiser could even finish his statement, he could see Joshua rushing towards Wisdom who was moving towards his goalkeeper.
"I've got you now!" Joshua said before lunging in for a tackle to steal the ball from behind Wisdom.
"I've caught you.." Wisdom said with a smirk as he passed the ball to his goalkeeper Kosi who had closed the gap between them.
Joshua tried to stop his tackle but it was too late, he had caught Wisdom by the ankle. Right at the same time that Kosi booted the ball upfield.
Fred immediately ran towards the area where the ball would land. The referee hadn't stopped play as he played an advantage.
Due to the commotion in front between Joshua and Wisdom. Kaiser's teammates had lost focus, giving Fred time to move through the midfield unmarked, facing only defenders, Kelechi and Femi in his path.
As he jumped to the chest down the ball both Kelechi and Femi lunged towards to close him down and stem the attack.
"NO, STAY BACK! LOOK BEHIND YOU!"
The two defenders could hear their captain yell as they saw Peter silently bursting behind the defence.
Both wingbacks were in pursuit, trying to catch up. But Peter's longer limbs gave him the advantage and he used it with maximum efficiency.
Femi and Kelechi could see Peter making the run and the panic on their team mates faces, however they were confused as Fred had his back turned towards them and hadn't even landed. How would he get the pass-through? They thought.
They got their answer immediately as Fred used the back of his head to flick the ball on, which rolled far beyond their reach.
Right Into the path of Peter who was already long gone. They had beaten the off side as Peter was still in his own half when the ball was flicked on.
"EVERYBODY GET BACK." Kaiser yelled as he and the rest of the squad ran back to try and stop Peter.
Realistically that was impossible however, he had already gotten a good 20-yard head start on them.
The goalkeeper Solomon did as he had been trained to do when facing a one-on-one situation. Make yourself as big as you can and close down the attacker which he did.
To no avail, however, as Peter easily faked a shot, causing him to commit Peter rounded him and placed a hard low shot into the bottom corner.
In just the 10th minute of the first half, Kaiser's team had been completely torn through.
Team B burst into a roar as they ran toward Peter to celebrate. And the family members of the players burst into cheers on the sidelines as well.
Looking at Wisdom who lay clutching his Ankle on the ground. The referee ran towards Joshua and reached into his pocket before raising a card to the annoyance of Joshua l.
"This is going to be more difficult than I thought." Kaiser said out loud.
