Chapter 19
"You... who are you?" After a minute of shock, seeing that the two people in front of him remained motionless, Wu Fan finally gathered his courage and asked, his voice trembling.
But the two figures sitting there seemed lifeless, completely still.
Could it be... that he had seen a ghost?
How could there be people in this cave? And moreover, these two elderly people had completely white hair. Their beards hung down to their bellies, and their long hair was tied in such a way that it seemed to touch the ground.
No ordinary person could look like this.
Wu Fan rubbed his eyes, and after confirming that he was indeed seeing two people sitting there, he began to gather his courage. Slowly, he stood up, then, cautiously, he crept toward them.
In that moment, he was terrified, but also incredibly curious.
"Ah!" As he got closer, he jumped in shock.
These two people sitting were actually nothing but dry corpses, real mummies.
Immediately, a cold sweat ran down his back.
My God! Apparently, others had fallen into this cave before and died, unable to escape. Did this mean he couldn't get out either? What should he do?
"Younger man, are you awake?" Suddenly, a woman's voice echoed through the cave.
In this quiet and dark place, the sudden appearance of a voice startled Wu Fan, causing him to fall to the ground, sitting.
His mind was confused. He didn't know whether he was experiencing some strange reality, seeing ghosts, or if he was already dead and had become a spirit himself.
Suddenly, two figures appeared in front of him.
These two figures had long, floating hair, and although their faces were partially hidden, their pale complexions made them even more terrifying.
"Ah! Ah!" Wu Fan screamed, and in panic, he grabbed the torch he had dropped earlier. Terrified, he shouted, "Ghosts! Ghosts! Go away, or I'll burn you!"
"Hehe, did he hit his head, or has he gone crazy? He thinks we're ghosts, how funny!" A soft and playful voice rang out.
Wu Fan was sure that this voice belonged to a young woman, probably under twenty years old.
"You're the foolish one! If someone suddenly saw you here, they'd definitely be scared!" Another, more mature voice was heard. "Young man, don't be afraid. We are human, just like you. We also fell into this cave a long time ago."
"Really? You... you're really human?" Upon hearing their tone, Wu Fan felt a glimmer of hope and asked excitedly.
"Yes, we are human. When you fell, you were on the brink of death. It was my mother who treated you with medicine, and you slept for a week before regaining your life!" said the young woman with a smile.
"Ah, so that's how it is. But how did you end up in this cave, and how can you heal injuries?" Wu Fan seemed to understand what had happened, but it all felt more and more strange.
He was lucky to still be alive after his fall; someone had treated him. But what about them? Did someone treat them before?
"The story is long, young man. When you fell, your bones were completely dislocated. If I hadn't been here to treat you, you'd already be dead. But for now, you shouldn't move. Go back to where you were lying and rest for a day or two. My daughter Xiaoxue will explain everything. As for me, I have to go find herbs for you!" said the older woman before disappearing instantly.
"Alright, I'll help you get up." The young woman approached Wu Fan and helped him back to where he had been lying.
Wu Fan realized that she was indeed a real girl. She carried a delicate fragrance, a pleasant scent that reassured him.
From her figure and face, she must have been an absolute beauty, but her pale complexion revealed the time she had spent in the cave.
"Thank you so much!" Wu Fan thanked her as he lay down.
"It's nothing! When you fell, I was the one who washed you from head to toe and cleaned your clothes, hehe…" the girl replied, smiling innocently.
"Ah!" Upon hearing this, Wu Fan blushed with s
hame. His heart raced as he realized she had seen everything.
