Chapter 21
Wu Fan continued to rest, lying down, while Xiaoxue, full of excitement, kept talking by his side. It seemed like she had never had the chance to talk to someone and was now seizing the opportunity.
Time passed quickly.
The campfire gradually dwindled, but Xiaoxue didn't seem to think about adding more wood, letting it die out.
Wu Fan, on the other hand, didn't really need light to do anything. Plus, he figured there must be a limited amount of wood in the cave, so it was better to conserve it.
He wasn't sure how much time had passed when a middle-aged woman's voice broke the silence. "Here, young man, take this medicine. After a bit of rest, you should be almost completely healed."
"Oh, thank you very much, ma'am!" Wu Fan, surprised, quickly replied.
He hadn't heard any footsteps approaching, and suddenly, the woman was next to him, speaking. It really startled him. If he hadn't known that they were alive, he probably would have been scared.
Wu Fan lit a match and took a bamboo bowl filled with a dark liquid.
A strong medicinal herb smell wafted from it.
Wu Fan wondered how they had a bamboo bowl, medicinal herbs, and even the means to prepare medicine in this cave. It baffled him.
However, he didn't dare ask too many questions, as the middle-aged woman exuded a mysterious aura that made him feel a slight pressure.
"Glug, glug!" In a few sips, he drank the contents of the bowl.
"Hehe, you're really brave! You don't even seem to fear the bitterness. I hate it. My mother always has to force me to drink it!" Xiaoxue exclaimed, clapping when she saw Wu Fan finish the bowl in one go.
Wu Fan stuck out his tongue, thinking, "Who said I wasn't afraid of the taste? It was as bitter as pig bile!" But there's a saying: "Good medicine tastes bitter." As long as it heals his injuries, it was worth it.
Soon, he felt dizzy and a weakness spread throughout his body, forcing him to lie down.
When he woke up, Wu Fan felt completely rejuvenated, with no physical discomfort.
Was he completely healed?
He tried moving his legs and swinging his arms. No pain.
He jumped up, took a few steps, and shouted, excited, "Xiaoxue, ma'am, my injuries are healed! I don't feel any pain anymore!"
He was so enthusiastic because the middle-aged woman had told him that all his joints were dislocated after his fall. He had spent a week lying down before he could barely get up, suffering from intense pain.
But now, he felt as lively as before, as if nothing had happened.
No, it was even better than before. He felt stronger, as if he was bursting with energy.
"Hehe, that's great! You're finally awake! You know, I was so worried about you. You've been asleep for two weeks! I really thought you were going to turn into a dried-up corpse!" Xiaoxue's sweet and joyful voice rang out.
What? I've been asleep for two weeks?
Wu Fan was stunned to learn that he had been unconscious all this time.
But before he could process the information, a delicate scent reached him, and suddenly, he found himself tightly embraced.
"Xiaoxue, you, you!" Wu Fan, caught off guard by the embrace of an adult woman, didn't know what to do and gently pushed her away.
"Ahem!" At that moment, the middle-aged woman stepped forward and cleared her throat. "Xiaoxue, there were no men here before, so I never warned you. From now on, remember to keep your distance. Men and women are differe
nt. And especially, remember this: men are all beasts."
