"I'm not going to orientation, for sure," Chase sighed, staring at himself in the mirror, frustration clear on his face. Lila looked at him, shocked by the sudden decision.
Diana, however, wasn't backing down. "Then I'm not going either."
Chase gave her a look, his patience running thin. "You gotta go. Alice is gonna wonder where you at."
Before Diana could argue, Lila jumped in with a grin. "Then I won't go either," she said, as if the idea of skipping was amusing. Chase let out a deep breath, walking toward them, his tone shifting to one of gentle insistence.
"You work there anyway, don't you?" he said, gently nudging them toward the door. "Besides, I can't handle being alone with y'all for too long, not today."
Chase turned to Diana, still lingering in the hallway. "You gotta join the volleyball team, and maybe get Alice's number so she knows where you're at."
