Chereads / Fate: Edmund / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

looking at each other face to face.

Edmund broke the silence.

-Brother in law, did I make a mistake?

Edmund looked into Kayneth's eyes, with a sad puppy dog look on his face and his head bowed. Kayneth rolled his eyes, not playing along. He knew Edmund was playing with him.

-No more jokes, Edmund, in a few weeks I won't be in the clock tower.

Edmund didn't understand why he was telling him this.

-Are you going to participate in the holy grail war? I didn't know you were interested in those old Eastern traditions, brother in law.

Kayneth got a twitch in his forehead. He guessed that he was already aware of everything.

Without hiding it any longer, Kayneth told him everything. Of his participation in the holy grail war and how he planned to further elevate his name as a lord.

Without paying attention to him, Edmund asked - do you already have a relic for the summoning?

-...yes, I have the perfect catalyst for the contest, Alexander the Great, in a few days it will be brought to me.

-The great conquering king, he united several countries under one banner, son of Zeus and a great general. Not only is he brimming with fame, but also with a first rate reputation.

Kayneth could not contain his smile at Edmund's praise for the catalyst he had achieved.

Edmund felt Kayneth's nose grow bigger at Edmund's praise.

Kayneth as the youngest prodigy of his time, could not stand Edmund, not when he was so proud. Putting his head down like a dog didn't sit well with him, but he had to if he wanted to get along with Edmund, since he was his fiancée's younger brother.

He wanted to keep up appearances so that Edmund would have a favorable opinion of him, which is why he told Edmund of his involvement.

He was certain that Edmund would understand the kindness he was giving by telling him of his plans.

-Yes... have a good time abroad, brother in law.

Edmund had nothing to comment on his involvement or the catalyst Kayneth had found, he didn't want to comment further because he knew Waver would steal the relic.

Edmund stood up and walked to the exit and said goodbye to Kayneth.

I won't be in the clock tower for a while, brother in law, goodbye.

Outside the office, Edmund sighed wearily, feeling his shoulders tense.

-It doesn't feel good to say goodbye, uff.

He stretched his arms to shake off the fatigue of talking to Kayneth. Every time he talks alone with Kayneth, he feels tired and sleepy, so he stretches a little after leaving, so as not to lose the energy it takes out of him.

Edmund didn't give Kayneth time to answer Kayneth about his departure, well, he didn't say where he's going, just that he won't be present for a while at the clock tower.

The point is that Edmund will be traveling abroad for some relics. If he didn't want to see Diarmuid, he needed to find other catalysts, good thing he found it, bad thing he has to personally go and pick them up.

He was paranoid, he didn't want anything to happen to the relics he sent for, he doesn't need mistakes in something as fragile and delicate as relics.

It was good that he was reincarnated in a rich family, his father Rufleus, gave him a lot of leeway as the young promise, with an amount of only 117 magic circuits, he towered over the other magicians, including his father who was a lord.

The amount of magic circuits determines the magician, but with Edmund, who has over 110 top quality magic circuits, with that monstrous amount, Edmund pumps prana as if he were pumping oil in the middle of the sea.

And what about the family emblem, Edmund didn't need it, being the last of the three brothers, he believed it wouldn't transfer to him, but no matter, Edmund was forging his own magic circuits into a new emblem he created. While he needs to put some of his own circuits into the emblem and pass it on to the next generation for it to continue to grow, Edmund found a way to transfer other people's magic circuits into it.

It's not ethical at all, Rufleus, his father focused on necromancy, on manipulating corpses. Edmund taught himself to manipulate the dead, resurrecting them as zombies, and when this happened, he took it upon himself to extract the magic circuits he has.

He creates a circle on the floor where he establishes; transfer of circuits. Although they are born with a certain amount of circuits, Edmund established a method to be able to remove the circuits of dead or alive people. If they are dead, he changes the circle to be; dead is alive, circuit transfer.

It doesn't always work, practically if you remove the magic circuits from a magician, you would be removing the life itself, for this reason he only does it with the dead that are still well preserved.

Diarmuid, is a good servant, but too fragile with emotions, he doesn't need someone so dull in the holy grail war. Diarmuid is very chivalrous, and in a holy grail war you don't need an equal fight with another servant who could easily overcome him.

-They found some interesting relics, hahaha.
