Chapter 34 - Training Regime

Charlene had answered a big question for Kaizer, which allowed him to understand his previous state. So when he could manage a 100-meter domain sensory range, he couldn't throw large-sized objects because he lacked sustained power and only had explosive power, something he noticed in the fiction he watched concerning psychic powers and summarized for himself.

The reason why he was troubled by this 'obvious' fact, which concerned seemingly basic physics enough to call his mother for an explanation, was not because of training issues. He had previously trained himself for three days and achieved great results, almost doubling his telekinetic power compared to his awakening.

Without that training, he would never have been able to use telekinesis to boost his physical powers to beat the three Dark Espers into near death as well as lift the deceased bodies of his schoolmates to seek revenge for them.

The problem that he faced was precisely because that training experienced a setback.

The problem was naturally the authority he stole from Rina, the death power that allowed him to endlessly grow his base psychic power.

Previously, he didn't need Charlene's explanation; he could figure out the baseline requirements for marking his power growth and how to train to achieve it. It was like a sequential math equation, where the formulas lined up and all he had to do was fill in the blanks to get the answer he sought.

Now, with the recent power boost he gained from the deaths of those gunmen, his base domain range had expanded to 290 meters, and his telekinetic strength had increased beyond his understanding, even allowing him to create a barrier that withstood attacks without shattering.

The problem now was that it was easy to measure his base power growth thanks to his domain, which he didn't train, but now his telekinetic training was all messed up. The numbers he gave Charlene were from before his training, when he was freshly awakened, so that strength could be considered his 'base' state.

After his 3 days of training, his power had grown nearly double in telekinesis, allowing him to even lift the Escalade for a few inches for about 15 seconds. That was a huge improvement from the measly split second he managed at first, and it was likely that continued training would have yielded more results.

Naturally, like all forms of training, there would have been an eventual point of diminishing returns as he soon reached his cap, which he hoped to be at least 15 times his base strength, since that would be enough to skyrocket him into the ranks of extraordinary power.

But now, he was not so sure. His domain had never increased during his training, and he hadn't actively trained it, so its growth was clear. However, his telekinesis—how exactly did it grow? Did its strength grow based on his untrained base power, or did it add itself atop his trained power?

This was a crucial question, for it determined how his efficiency in power growth would go.

Right now, there were two situations. The first was that the newly added psychic power was based only on his base awakening power. In that case, it would be better for Kaizer to kill and absorb psychic power until he couldn't swallow anymore, then train all that power to its limit.

The second was that the newly added psychic power added to his current base power, which meant that it would be better to train to his absolute limit, kill to increase his psychic power by a measured amount, then train to the limit of his new power again, then rinse and repeat.

Kaizer could not tell his mother, father, and aunt about his and Rina's covenant, so he could not tell his mother about this problem. As such, he could only ask in a roundabout way, but his mother's answers, seemingly off-topic and rather simple to most educated people, actually pierced to the core of the problem.

She had provided him the most efficient way to test his base power and also to focus on growing it. From it, Kaizer consulted a few training apps and wrote down interesting workouts he felt could help his telekinetic power achieve its most optimum growth.

It would be a 60-minute workout routine with moments of rest and recovery, allowing him to also do other things.

The first thing would be 15 minutes of Object Manipulation Practice. Kaizer planned to start each workout with small objects (e.g., marbles, coins) by lifting, spinning, or balancing them, then gradually move to larger items, like a chair or a table. The aim was to focus on smooth, controlled movements and maintain mental clarity when giving commands.

The second part was a 10-minute Flame Manipulation Exercise. This would begin with him lighting a candle and staring at the flame without blinking. Kaizer would then have to visualize keeping the flame steady or imagine influencing its movement. This was to try and develop a pyrokinetic ability.

The third part was a simple Mental Manipulation Training for 15 minutes. Here, Kaizer would sit comfortably in a meditative posture and close his eyes, trying to enter his own mental world and grasp his mindscape. Using that as a main point, he would start building his own mental defenses much as Anir did against him, as well as find ways to concentrate his power to pierce such mental barriers.

The fourth part would be an Area Sensory Drill for 10 minutes, which was geared towards him maintaining a meditative posture, but rather than try to sense within, he would sense without. He would focus on his telesthetic domain and try to better perceive the information that came from it. The more in tune he was with it, the more he could get out of it.

The workout ended with a period of Reflection and Cooldown for a minimum of 5 minutes, totaling 10 minutes. Here, Kaizer would remain seated in quietude and reflect on his progress during the session. He would mentally journal his experiences, noting any improvements, challenges, or ideas for the future so he could keep track of his growth.

That was it. His workout currently covered four of the Six Paths of the Mind with Telekinesis up first, then Elemental Manipulation, followed by Telepathy and finally Telesthesia. Kaizer did not have the interest nor confidence in trying to work on his Channeling ability, and Spacetime was something he didn't even know how to train, to be frank.

Anyway, this workout routine might not be the most complex nor optimal for him, but it was mostly temporary. His father had dismissed the family meeting after stating that he would find a means to get him and Rina into the best faction within the Esper World by hook or by crook, while Rina and her mother were currently spending time together as Rina wanted to know more about her father.

As such, Kaizer had to forgo telling her about their childhood promise for now, but he would definitely bring it up when they were alone.

For now though, Kaizer glanced at the 5 kg dumbbell his mother threw down, and a blue light emerged in his eyes as an outline formed around the item, lifting it into the air.

Until his father came back with news, the training would not stop!
