Jaden Yan stepped forward a few paces to pick up the bag, a flicker of annoyance flashing across his eyes as he cursed, "It's a waste of effort. Why do you have to make it so professional? Do you really think we're making a movie?"
He only had time to check his wound when he felt a slight pain on his arm.
Fortunately, it was just a skin scratch. It looked like it bled a lot, but it was actually nothing serious.
Although the man was somewhat annoyed, a gleam in his eyes suggested that this wound actually proved his daring act of retrieving Jenny Ye's bag.
Jaden Yan's lips curled up slightly, then he resumed his indifferent expression and walked back, holding the bag and furrowing his brow.
Turning the corner, Jaden Yan found Jenny Ye still waiting in the same spot, and he sighed in relief again - at least his efforts hadn't been in vain.
He walked over with the bag, and Jenny Ye quickly approached him.
"Your bag!" Jaden Yan handed it over calmly.
Seeing her bag unexpectedly retrieved, Jenny Ye was somewhat surprised. She took off her sunglasses and said gratefully, "Thank you!"
Seeing the woman remove her sunglasses, Jaden Yan's eyes lit up. Looking into her expressive eyes, he couldn't help but marvel at her beauty.
"It's okay. Be careful in the future!" Although Jaden Yan was still marveling, he maintained his cool demeanor and replied.
"Yes, where's the robber? Oh! You're hurt?"
Jenny Ye noticed the wound on Jaden Yan's arm and wanted to examine it, but felt somewhat abrupt. Her hand hovered in mid-air, unsure whether to touch or not, and she suddenly felt a little flustered.
"He ran away. It's just a minor injury, it's fine!" Jaden Yan glanced at the wound and pretended to be relaxed.
He secretly calculated in his mind that Jenny Ye should thank him next. She would take him to the doctor to treat the wound, and they would naturally get to know each other over dinner and conversation. After that, they would only need to slowly cultivate their feelings. Perhaps with good luck, he could complete the mission with Jenny Ye with a home run?
But as Jaden Yan looked at Jenny Ye, he suddenly noticed that there seemed to be little gratitude in her beautiful eyes, instead a sense of entitlement.
Jaden Yan felt like he might have missed something. If things really developed smoothly, would it really be as easy as he imagined to get in touch with Jenny Ye?
"Your clothes are torn, and the blood is still flowing. Let me take you to see a doctor! After all, you got hurt trying to help me. I can't just leave you like this!" Jenny Ye suggested with concern, just as expected.
"Well, thank you..." Jaden Yan didn't refuse. In fact, the knife wound on his arm did need to be treated.
Fortunately, there was a clinic nearby. After a simple treatment, the two stood on the street corner.
"Thanks..." Jaden Yan smiled slightly, beginning to calculate what to do next. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Luna Zhou still staring at him from inside the car nearby.
"Why are you thanking me? It's me who should thank you." Jenny Ye smiled politely.
Upon hearing her words, Jaden Yan felt somewhat dilemmaed. Jenny Ye seemed to have no intention of continuing contact with him. Will it be over like that?
Glancing around, he happened to notice a café nearby.
"Are you available now? How about I treat you to a coffee? My arm is still sore, and it's a good chance to rest for a while." Jaden Yan could only take the initiative to invite.
Jenny Ye's eyes seemed to flash with helplessness, but she still smiled and nodded, "Alright then."
The two walked into the nearby café together. Jenny Ye seemed very familiar with this café. While Jaden Yan was still observing the layout, she walked towards a seat.
Jaden Yan hurried after her, and at the same time, a waiter approached, "What can I get for you two?"
"Cappuccino..." Both of them said the name of the coffee almost simultaneously.
Jenny Ye looked at Jaden Yan in surprise and then smiled.
"Do you come here often?" After the waiter left, Jaden Yan asked with a smile.
"Yes, this café has great coffee and a nice ambiance. Plus, there are many books here that I like to read."
As Jenny Ye spoke, she took a book from the shelf next to the seat.
The café was uniquely decorated, with shelves next to each seat containing a variety of books.
Noticing the book Jenny Ye picked up, Jaden Yan's eyes lit up, "Beyond the long tunnel crossing the county border lies the Snow Country, a work by Yasunari Kawabata."
"Have you read it too?" Jenny Ye asked in surprise.
"Yes, there is a strong vitality in poverty..." It was a paragraph from the book. When Jaden Yan recited it, Jenny Ye recited it along with him.
When they finished, the two looked at each other and smiled, as if they had found like-minded friends.
"Great, let me introduce myself. I'm Jenny Ye. What about you?" It seemed like she had taken a liking to this woman, and Jenny Ye finally intended to get to know Jaden Yan.
"Jaden Yan. Actually, I come to this café occasionally." Jaden Yan smiled and chose to use his real name to avoid making any mistakes.
These seemingly coincidental interests were all the homework Jaden Yan had done after obtaining Jenny Ye's information. He had put in a lot of effort for this commission.
"Really? I come here often, and I've never seen you before?" Jenny Ye asked with a smile.
"Maybe our schedules don't match. I usually come in the morning, or I can't make it if I'm too busy with work." Jaden Yan replied with a smile.
"Is that so? What do you do for a living?" Jenny Ye asked curiously.
"Trade, foreign trade..." After saying this, Jaden Yan realized that although they were sitting in a café, there was actually nothing else to talk about. Staying any longer like this wouldn't make any progress. Trying to achieve everything in one step seemed premature.
The man began to quickly analyze various possibilities in his mind and then pretended to check a message on his phone before apologizing, "Sorry, there's still some work to deal with in my company. I have to excuse myself first!"
Saying that, Jaden Yan stood up and left the café directly.
Jenny Ye watched Jaden Yan leave so hastily, with a mix of surprise and curiosity in her eyes. She wanted to call him back but ultimately just opened her mouth and said nothing.
Jaden Yan walked out of the café, glanced back once, and quickly walked towards the car still parked nearby. He opened the door and sat in, couldn't help but complain, "Is the person you found nuts? A motorcycle snatch and knife wound too? If I hadn't dodged, he would have gutted me! I'm here to seduce your woman, not to play with my life!"
Luna Zhou was in no mood to listen to Jaden Yan's complaints and asked with a look of resentment, "Why are you coming back?"
"Why not? Should I wait for her to invite me to dinner? First of all, the clothes were torn because of work, so I'm not responsible for that. As for the medical expenses, I don't know if you'll reimburse me." Jaden Yan raised his arm to indicate the wound.
"Don't give me any excuses. You just came back like that? You wasted such a good opportunity! You got hurt for her! Shouldn't she repay you? Shouldn't you take the chance to hook up with her and then take her to a hotel? How could you... just come back like that?" Luna Zhou demanded angrily.
