Chapter 10 - Chapter POV - Migration of the elves

Hi, I'm a flora from the elven tribe. My current age is 20 years old. What? Elves are supposed to be long-lived? Of course not, the average age of all races is the same. They only differ in appearance. For example, dwarves will still be short and elves after reaching the age of 30, their aging will stop. Only the men are getting older. Back to my story. I was assigned as an exploration team to find resources for my tribe. We elves have been living in this whisperwood forest for quite some time.

Although it was hard, we had no other choice. If we stepped out of the forest, the humans would immediately hunt us down. This was the truth I knew from the other exploration teams. Our colony only numbered about a hundred and fifty people of which 20 were scouting teams and 30 were hunting teams. The rest were children and weak women. I wasn't a weak woman so I was able to join the exploration team.

Our lives are quite hard because we don't have the strength like Beastman and forging technology like the dwarves. We do have magical abilities but our magical abilities are more suitable for maintaining life. Luckily the dwarves' tools are amazing so even we elves can use them to cut down trees.

Currently, my partner Gil and I are exploring the center of the whisperwood forest. The level of monsters in the center of this whisperwood forest I can say is about four times the level of the monsters at the edge of the whisperwood forest. Just look at this horned rabbit.... Gil and I were troubled.

For your information, neither of us, Beastman and dwarf, dare to go too deep. As for humans, I guarantee they won't dare to go in because of the many traps that we human races have set.

In the middle of the forest, we found a steep cliff and a wide river. When viewed, this cliff is like a natural fortress that is difficult to penetrate. Unfortunately, life here is quite troublesome because there are many strong monsters. Just look at this chicken monster. We defeated that monster with a lot of hard work.

Since Gil and I got injured after fighting the purple frog monster, we decided to take a break. Since there was a big river, Gil and I were able to get enough food supply despite having to fight the purple toads first.

In the morning we left the temporary camp and investigated the cliff further. It was not very inviting to climb as the cliffs were very steep.

By the evening, Gil and I had gotten a lot of information. The area here is quite habitable but full of risks. If we can adjust, we will be able to build a decent life here.

Then we returned to our camp,

"Hey, look over there..."

I said that to Gil.

"Ah, wasn't it just an empty lot there before? Why is there a house now?!"

Gil was also surprised to look in the direction I pointed. Before we left the camp, it was still empty there but now, there's already a house. Did the dwarves build it? But it's highly unlikely that it was built in a day. Moreover, the building looked very beautiful with a lot of light inside.

"Let's go tell the chief" I said that and invited Gil to return to the colony immediately.

Our return trip took about five days by the direct route despite the variety and 8 days if using the safe route.

We were finally able to arrive at our colony soon. However, from what I could see, our colony seemed to have been attacked.

Gil and I immediately ran towards the camp.

"EVERYONE!!! ARE YOU OKAY?!!!"

I shouted from a distance because I was so worried. After all, my mom and sister were also in the colony.

"Flora, Gil, have you arrived?!"

It was the voice of our partner, Mali. I immediately ignored her and looked for my parents.

"Mom, Rose, where are you?!"

As I shouted and kept looking, I finally found them in the cooking team section.

"Flora? Are you back from the exploration?"

"Um."

I just nodded and ran to hug my mom. I was really very worried. My little sister rose also immediately hugged my thigh and cried.

I heard from them that our place was attacked by a black wolf pack.

When I heard that, I was shocked. Why was the pack heading to the lip of whisperwood? Don't they live in the middle of the forest?

I thought about it but couldn't find an answer so I ignored it. The most important thing was that my mother and sister were safe.

Having made sure they were safe, I quickly headed to Gil and Mali and then we headed to the chief. We will report on the events from the various exploration sites. I learned that the black wolf pack attacked two days ago. Fortunately, the hunting team hasn't left the camp so they were able to survive.

The black wolf's level is equivalent to a human's medium knight. That's because of their incredible speed.

"Greetings, chief"

We all knelt on one knee with our hands clenched in front of us and saluted the chief. Our chieftain actually didn't like too many manners but since he was the leader, he could only accept them reluctantly.

"Get up, all of you. I want to hear what you got. Also, you already know that we were attacked? I hope you bring good news."

Sighing, the chief said that to us.

The condition of the elf colony this time was really very bad. The best solution I can think of is that we should move to the center of the forest where the house is. My feelings tell me that it's the best place for us elves.

Looking at the look in the chief's eyes, it seems that he didn't expect much from our report because so far, we didn't bring a good enough report. And we spent a lot of time fighting monsters which greatly delayed our continued exploration.
