Chapter 16 - Chapter 14 - Emergency

It's been a week since the elves migrated to my place. Rika also plays with the elven children every day. Wait a minute-

Rika hasn't been studying for a week now. Looks like I need to start being strict with her. Rika seemed to sense my thoughts and immediately looked back at me.

I just waved my hand and smiled at her. Did she sense my intentions?

I then headed to the plantation and mine section. The Elven women said they would take care of the plantation. Their magic is very compatible with nature. I mean, their pure magic can be used to feed the plants. They can also cast attack magic just that their magic is more optimally used to take care of nature.

Some men would take care of the mines and some would hunt. Surprisingly, or perhaps this was normal, their bodies and vitality increased dramatically.

"Hello everyone, you seem to be in good spirits today"

I greeted the women and men there. All greeted back with smiles on their faces. After all, each of them now had a home, albeit a modest one.

"My lord, today you're as handsome as ever"

There was a girl who teased me and I just smiled wryly. Her name was Agnes and she happened to be unmarried. The elf chieftain had repeatedly tried to get me married to one of the elf girls but I always refused with various excuses. I'm not ready to get married at the moment.

"Hahaha, as usual you guys really like teasing me. How is the estate at the moment, is there any problem I need to deal with?"

That's right. Right now my job is just to make sure everything is smooth. If there are any particular problems, they should let me know so that I can quickly deal with them.

By the way, some of the mine products will be collected at my place and some will be brought to the dwarven settlement for reprocessing. I've tried managing some and I can basically do it too but I can't possibly do it all by myself. Let's give others a chance so that the world spins as it should.

While I was chatting with the others, someone ran towards me. Apparently, it was Flora.

Ah, you know, for some reason, now all problems will be reported to me instead of their chieftain. From what I heard from Gil, the elven chieftain, Arwen's grandfather, instructed them all to do so.

"My lord, there's important news!!!"

Flora said that to me while saluting. She had a frightened look on her face. Is there an emergency? I'd better calm Flora down first.

"Calm yourself, Flora. Don't worry. Tell me slowly."

I said that and then Flora started to take a breath to calm down. After that, she started talking.

"My lord, there is important news. We brought another tribe of elves to this area. They seem to have been attacked by a group of orcs. Many were injured among them. They are currently making their way to this place. From the information provided, some of the men are holding back the orcs even though it should be impossible due to the difference in strength and weapons. What should we do at this time, my lord?"

Flora still looked pale when she said that. It seems like orcs are a scary specter.

Arwen's grandfather once told me what monsters are in this forest. From the low level, they are slime, goblin, red rat, poison frog, and kobold. Middle level, there are blood bat, salamander, rabbit hornet, iron crab and some other monsters. Advanced monsters are black wolf, muscle ape, orc, lizardman, Undead, viper, brown bear, cat forest and several other monsters.

These categories are not absolute but are generally like this. For example, poison frog which is categorized as low level is still possible to kill lizardman if lizardman is not alert. This category is made on a one-on-one basis in the open.

Orcs have a human-like posture, but with green skin, an ape-like face, a pig-like nose, and long fangs. Orcs are usually about 7 feet tall. Their strength is the greatest along with the brown bear.

Fortunately, their speed is not too good. This is what I mean by the balance that this world provides.

"Relax, first of all, let's wait for the exploration team to bring the casualties. Flora, gather some of the hunters currently available. I'll prepare weapons suitable for fighting orcs."

Saying that, I immediately asked Flora to leave and I also headed home. But before that,

"Rika, go back to the house. It's a bit dangerous outside."

I said that and brought Rika into the house. I couldn't bring the other children because I was still on guard. I don't know what they'll be like in the future. This is just to be on the safe side. After all, the elven housing estate also already has a proper fence as the first protection from outside attacks.

I also asked everyone to return to the settlement. Some women should be preparing in the Hall to welcome the victims of the orc attack.

"Uncle, what happened?"

Rika asked in confusion.

"There will be a monster attack. Rika must wait here obediently, okay? Uncle and the elf uncles will fight against the monsters so wait here for her."

As soon as I said that,

"NO, UNCLE!!! YOU HAVE TO BE WITH RIKA!!!"

Rika started crying and wouldn't allow me to leave.

This was the first time Rika had ever cried. I who saw her crying became very heartless but somehow I had to quickly deal with the current threat.

"Rika, calm down.... Uncle will be fine. Isn't uncle very strong? Uncle will be back soon so don't worry and obey okay?"

I said that and Rika just fell silent. I tried to explain again slowly for five minutes. She then ran away and went inside the house accompanied by blacky.

I just shook my head at her behavior. At least she could understand what I was explaining even though she was probably very angry.

I immediately went to the workshop in front of the house and took the weapons that I had made. There were shields and spears. Everything was modified and ready to use. I brought them outside where Flora and twenty other people were already there.

I explained the tactics to them. We will fight with the turtle strategy. Ten people would carry the shields and the other ten would stand behind to stab with the spears. I was very confident in the shield's strength because even blacky couldn't scratch it. Perhaps what I need to anticipate is the pushing force of the orcs.

With that, we started heading into the forest after the victims arrived and were brought to the hall.

One thing I didn't anticipate was Rika's madness. She secretly sneaked out together with blacky.
