Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: The Unlikely Champion

Ascar and Katherine arrived at school, the sound of cheering and chatter filling the air. The school was hosting a sports competition, and it seemed like the entire student body had turned out to watch.

Ascar had never been much of an athlete, and he had decided to spectate rather than participate. He and Katherine found a spot on the sidelines, where they watched as the students competed in various events.

Just as the competition was heating up, Tyler, the school's star athlete, took the microphone from the host. "I have a challenge for someone," he said, his voice booming across the field. "I want to race against Ascar."

The crowd erupted into cheers and chants, and Ascar's face flushed with embarrassment. Katherine looked worried, thinking that Ascar would go out there and embarrass himself.

But Ascar surprised her. He stood up, a confident look on his face. "Well, you said I should stand up for myself, so here I go," he said, looking back at Katherine.

Katherine's eyes widened in surprise, but she couldn't help feeling a sense of pride. Ascar was finally standing up for himself, and she was eager to see how he would do.

Ascar made his way to the starting line, where Tyler was waiting for him. The rules were explained to them: they would have to run around the field twice, and the first one to cross the finish line would be the winner.

The gun was shot, and Tyler took off like a bullet. Ascar, on the other hand, seemed to be stuck in place. He looked around, his face flushed with embarrassment, before finally taking off after Tyler.

The crowd cheered and chanted as the two boys ran around the field. Tyler was in the lead, and it seemed like he was going to win easily.

But Ascar refused to give up. He ran as fast as he could, his legs pumping and his heart pounding in his chest. He was determined to catch up to Tyler, no matter what.

As he ran, Ascar started to get flashbacks of his months of training in Brindlemark. He remembered the countless hours he had spent practicing his sword fighting skills, and the many times he had pushed himself to his limits.

Ascar's face set in determination, he asked himself, "After all these training, is this what you can do? Remember you want to get stronger."

This gave him a new resolve, and he found a burst of energy that he didn't know he had. He started to gain on Tyler, and the crowd began to cheer even louder.

Ascar's legs pumped faster and faster, his heart pounding in his chest. He was gaining on Tyler, and he could see the finish line up ahead.

With one final burst of energy, Ascar sprinted across the finish line, beating Tyler by a hair. The crowd erupted into cheers, and Ascar's face flushed with pride.

Katherine was jumping up and down, screaming "That's my son!" at the top of her lungs. Ascar's cheeks turned bright red as he prayed that his mom would stop embarrassing him.

But he couldn't help feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. He had faced his fears and pushed himself to his limits, and he had come out on top.

Ascar grinned, feeling a sense of confidence that he had never felt before. He knew that he still had a long way to go, but he was ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.

Tyler's face turned red with rage as he refused to accept defeat. He pounced on Ascar, his fists flying as he started punching him. The crowd gasped in shock, unable to believe that Tyler would stoop so low.

Ascar stumbled backward, his eyes widening in surprise as Tyler's fists connected with his face and chest. But he quickly regained his composure, his anger and frustration boiling over.

Ascar had had enough of Tyler's bullying, and he decided to teach him a lesson he would never forget. With a fierce determination, Ascar pushed Tyler away from him, using all his strength to send the bully stumbling backward.

Tyler lost his balance, his arms flailing wildly as he tried to regain his footing. But Ascar was too quick, and he took advantage of Tyler's momentary distraction.

With a fierce cry, Ascar launched himself at Tyler, his fists flying as he punched the bully with all his might. Tyler tried to defend himself, but Ascar was relentless, his punches raining down on the bully like a hailstorm.

Tyler stumbled backward, his eyes wide with fear as Ascar's fists connected with his face and chest. He tried to cry out for help, but Ascar's punches were too fast, too furious, and Tyler's voice was drowned out by the sound of Ascar's fists connecting with his flesh.

The crowd watched in horror as Ascar continued to pummel Tyler, the bully's cries for mercy growing louder and more desperate. But Ascar didn't stop, his anger and frustration boiling over as he taught Tyler a lesson he would never forget.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Tyler's cries for mercy grew loud enough to penetrate Ascar's rage-filled haze. Ascar's fists slowed, and then stopped, as he stood over Tyler, his chest heaving with exertion.

Tyler lay on the ground, his face battered and bruised, his eyes streaming with tears. "Please, Ascar," he sobbed, "stop. I'm sorry. I'll never bother you again."

Ascar's chest heaved with exertion as he stood over Tyler, his fists still clenched and his eyes blazing with anger. But as he looked down at Tyler's battered and bruised face, he felt a pang of guilt and regret. He had gone too far, and he knew it.

Ascar's fists slowly unclenched, and he took a step back, his eyes never leaving Tyler's face. The bully lay on the ground, his eyes streaming with tears, and Ascar knew that he had finally learned his lesson.
