Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: A Day at the Gym

Ascar woke up early, feeling a sense of determination wash over him. He had been thinking a lot about his adventure in Brindlemark, and he knew that he needed to get stronger if he was going to survive in that world.

He decided to start by working on his physical strength, and he headed to the local gym to get a membership. As he walked in, he was greeted by the sound of clanging weights and the smell of sweat.

Ascar was a bit intimidated at first, but he was determined to push through. He approached the front desk and signed up for a membership, and then he headed to the locker room to change into his workout clothes.

As he emerged from the locker room, Ascar was greeted by a personal trainer who introduced himself as Mike. Mike was a tall, muscular man with a friendly smile, and he asked Ascar what his fitness goals were.

Ascar explained that he wanted to get stronger and more agile, and Mike nodded thoughtfully. "Okay, let's get started then," he said, leading Ascar to the weight room.

Ascar spent the next hour lifting weights and doing exercises to improve his strength and agility. Mike was a great trainer, and he pushed Ascar to his limits, encouraging him to keep going even when he felt like giving up.

As the hour drew to a close, Ascar felt exhausted but exhilarated. He had never felt so alive, and he knew that he was on the right track.

As he left the gym, Ascar's phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket and answered, expecting it to be his mom or maybe even a wrong number.

But to his surprise, it was Emily. "Hey, Ascar. I need to see you. Can you come over to my house?" she asked, her voice sounding a bit mysterious.

Ascar's curiosity was piqued. "What's going on?" he asked, but Emily just laughed and said, "You'll see. Just come over, okay?"

Ascar agreed, and he made his way to Emily's house. When he arrived, he noticed that her parents were nowhere to be found. "Where are your parents?" he asked, feeling a bit uneasy.

"They're out running some errands," Emily replied, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "We're alone in the house."

Ascar raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit suspicious. But Emily just laughed and said, "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to talk to you about something."

Ascar followed Emily into the living room, feeling a bit more at ease. But as they sat down, Emily's expression turned serious. "Ascar, I need to ask you something," she said, her eyes locked on his. "What's going on with you? You've been acting really strange lately, and I've noticed that you've been getting stronger and faster. What's going on?"

Ascar tried to brush it off, but Emily was not having it. She stood up and walked over to the door, locking it with a firm click. "You're not getting out of here until you tell me the truth," she said, her eyes flashing with determination.

Ascar's heart skipped a beat as he realized that Emily was not going to let up. He was trapped, and he knew that he had to come clean. But as he looked into Emily's eyes, he felt a sense of trepidation. What would she think when she found out the truth?

Ascar shook his head, trying to deflect Emily's questions. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said, trying to sound nonchalant.

But Emily was not buying it. She narrowed her eyes, her gaze piercing. "Don't lie to me, Ascar," she said, her voice firm. "I saw something strange the other day. A bright light in your room. What was it?"

Ascar tried to laugh it off, but Emily's expression remained serious. "I don't know what you're talking about," he repeated, trying to sound convincing.

But Emily was not giving up. She took a step closer to Ascar, her eyes blazing with determination. "I know what I saw," she said, her voice low and even. "And I'm not leaving until you tell me the truth."

Ascar tried to back away, but Emily was too quick. She grabbed his arm, her grip surprisingly strong. "You're not going anywhere until you tell me what's going on," she said, her eyes flashing with anger.

Ascar tried to struggle free, but Emily was relentless. She pinned him against the wall, her eyes blazing with determination. "Tell me the truth."
