Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Aftermath

The principal arrived at the scene of the fight, his face stern and disapproving. "What happened here?" he asked, his voice firm.

The school's nurses rushed over to tend to the wounds of both Ascar and Tyler. Tyler was still on the floor, begging for mercy and apologizing for his actions.

Ascar, on the other hand, was filled with regret. He had let his anger get the better of him, and he had lost control. He knew that he had gone too far, and he was worried about the consequences.

The principal made an announcement that the event had ended due to the uproar. Ascar was relieved that the attention was no longer on him, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that this wasn't over.

Just as he was lost in his thoughts, Katherine appeared and grabbed Ascar by the ear. Ascar was in pain, but he knew that his mom wasn't going to stop until she was satisfied.

"Mom, please," Ascar pleaded, trying to wriggle free from her grip. But Katherine was relentless, scolding Ascar as she pulled him by the ear towards the exit of the school.

The principal tried to intervene, explaining that Tyler had gone too far with his bullying. But Katherine wasn't convinced. She was determined to teach Ascar a lesson, and she wasn't going to let anyone get in her way.

As they left the school premises, Emily and her parents joined them. Emily's parents, Mark and Sarah, were a pleasant-looking couple in their mid-40s. Mark had a kind face and a warm smile, while Sarah had a more serious expression, but her eyes sparkled with kindness.

"Katherine, please calm down," Mark said, trying to reason with her. "Ascar was just defending himself."

But Katherine was having none of it. She continued to scold Ascar, her voice rising in anger.

As they walked, Katherine suddenly stopped and looked around, making sure that no one was listening. Then, to Ascar's surprise, she started laughing.

"That jerk deserved it," she said, chuckling. "I didn't know you had it in you. Seriously, I thought you were cooked."

Ascar laughed awkwardly, still feeling a bit shaken by the events of the day.

But Katherine's expression quickly turned serious. "But don't ever try this again," she said, making a scary face towards Ascar. "You hear me?"

Ascar nodded, still feeling a bit intimidated by his mom's anger.

As they continued walking, Katherine joined Mark and Sarah, and they started chatting about their day. Emily congratulated Ascar on standing up for himself, and Ascar smiled, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment.

As they approached their homes, they waved goodbye to each other, and Ascar entered his house, feeling relieved that the day was finally over.

But as he walked into the living room, he couldn't shake off the feeling that this wasn't over. And he was right.

Katherine returned from the kitchen with a wooden spoon, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Mom, I thought we had this over with," Ascar said, backing away from her. "Plus, I just defended myself."

But Katherine was not to be deterred. "You still went too far, and you deserved to be punished," she said, advancing on Ascar with the wooden spoon. "Now, get your ass here."

Ascar knew that he was in trouble, and he took off running, with Katherine hot on his heels.

Ascar ran around the living room, dodging the wooden spoon as Katherine chased after him. He laughed and shouted, enjoying the silly game.

Finally, Ascar ducked behind the couch, and Katherine followed, her eyes twinkling with mirth. "You can't hide from me that easily!" she exclaimed, trying to reach around the couch to get to Ascar.

Ascar giggled and peeked out from behind the couch, his eyes shining with amusement. Katherine's expression softened, and she smiled, putting down the wooden spoon.

"Okay, okay," she said, laughing. "I think you've learned your lesson."

Ascar emerged from behind the couch, his face still flushed with excitement. Katherine opened her arms, and Ascar ran into them, hugging her tightly.

"I'm sorry, Mom," he said, his voice muffled against her shoulder.

Katherine hugged him back, her voice filled with warmth. "I'm sorry too, sweetie. I know you were just defending yourself, and I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself."

Ascar looked up at her, his eyes shining with happiness. "Really, Mom?" he asked, his voice filled with hope.

Katherine nodded, smiling. "Really, sweetie. Now, how about we make some cookies to celebrate?"

Ascar's face lit up with excitement. "Yeah! Can we make chocolate chip?"

Katherine laughed. "Of course, we can. Let's get started!"

Together, Ascar and Katherine headed into the kitchen, arm in arm, ready to bake some delicious cookies and enjoy some quality time together. The tension and stress of the day melted away, replaced by warmth, love, and the sweet scent of freshly baked cookies.
