Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

CHAPTER 9

Vex saw the sharp items on the table, and they got some blood. The red liquid was smeared on the table also. He instinctively pulled the woman's body closer to him and her head to his chest. He tilted his head down to see her back. The thin dress had some cuts, and it showed red, dark marks of sliced skin. He had unintentionally hurt her further.

Then she noticed her shallow breathing. He pulled her head a bit away from him to see her face, but her eyelids were almost closed. And she felt that her hands were getting lax in his grip behind her.

In just a few seconds, she exhaled wearily, and her body finally gave in to the darkness.

He pulled her head towards his chest and held her waist so she wouldn't slide down in his grip.

"Bashik." He cursed in his own language.

She did great in bearing such pain from him. He knew it was his fault, even if he didn't do it intentionally.

Vex carefully carried her and sat on the bed. He propped the woman's body on his lap. He can't lay her down on her back until the cuts are treated. He knew those wounds were a bit deep. Blood was still gushing out. His legs were spread to sit the woman on the bed with the extra space between his legs. He raised her legs on top of his right thigh.

He fished his phone from his pockets and called for the doctor, who was living at one of the houses in his estate.

Azmael, the doctor answered in the second ring. He did not let him speak a greeting. "Come here in the woman's cell this instant." His tone was hard edged. Then he hung up.

After the call, he put the phone down on the bed. He raised her nightdress and balled the cloth in his hand. He pushed it on the gun wound to somehow suppress the blood.

Her silky white thigh was in full view. He wasn't affected by seeing them if it were any other females. But this woman did. He felt pathetic that he was turned on by a nobody and one of his captives. Aside from that, it was an unconscious woman.

He was being careful not to touch the wounds in her back. Her head was against his chest while he wrapped his arm around her shoulders. She was losing blood, and her face was pale.

Vex clenched his fist. As much as he wants other people dead whenever they crossed his line, however, he wanted her alive even if she stomped that line over and over on his face.

A minute had past, and the doctor was still not in his sight.

He exhilaratingly sighed. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes to gather his thoughts. There were no traces of her break-in from all the CCTVs. It was like she just appeared out of thin air. And she had the uniform of a soldier. It had a crest at the right shoulder.

The woman seemed like she didn't know him at all or understood his status. And there was also that different glow in her. She's full of spirit. And she does well in bearing the hurt. It was like she was used to it. So, she might truly be a soldier. She did not wear it just to be different and to get his attention.

The crest, as he remembered, could it just be coincidental? Because he knew it. And if she were really from that place, then he knew already why she was there. Then he recalled what she said earlier about taming him. Why did she say those when it wasn't her purpose? Well, unless she...

He looked down on her head, which was buried against his chest. There was that tingling feeling inside that he wanted to smile from the thought that she was attractive to him.

Then her fiery purple gaze appeared on his mind. Like warning him to continue such disgusting thoughts.

He shook his head. It couldn't be. She outright said that she would never seduce him. A part of him wanted though.

Bashik! What was he thinking?

Her otherworldly beauty explains it then. Because she was indeed from another world.

Oh, this is fun. A smirk tugged on his lips.

Then his head raised as he heard noises from outside. The door was instantly open wide, and he was graced with his doctor.

"What took you so long?" He grumbled at the man who closed the door before turning around to face them.

The doctor halted as he was about to approach the bed. He stared at the scene before him. "Did hell freeze over?" He commented.

"You wish. I would never grant that." Vex answered with a menacing look.

Azmael strode over to them and looked at the woman's thigh. He whistled upon seeing the wound.

Vex's glare changed into something darker. He could have black smoke emanating around his body.

But the doctor did not notice it as he went to the door and ordered the guards outside.

"Please fetch me clean water in a basin and a few fresh towels. And hurry up guys."

"Check her back." Vex uttered when he turned around.

Azmael strolled closer and gasped upon seeing the new wounds. Then he looked at the far table, where the torture things were. He glanced at his friend.

"What changed your mind? You were about to kill her." He asked, opening his medical box.

"Just do your job." He grunted, not wanting to answer him.

Azmael didn't push it anymore. He was shocked to see him with a woman lying in his arms for a different reason. And Vex looked concerned. Scratch that. His face was stonily cold, but he knew that he must have cared for the woman. Because he was holding her. That's already a whole lot different from the usual Vextral. And they didn't even know her. He saw how pretty she was, but that wasn't enough to get Vex fixated on her to make her stay alive. There could be something else.

He opened his medical case. He rubbed antiseptic to his hands and put on surgical gloves. He inspected the cuts in her back closely, one by one.

Then he looked up to Vex. "Thank you then that it wasn't deep enough to require stitches to the skin you damaged." He emphasized and saw the change in Vex's eyes.

He can talk to him that way because he wasn't just his doctor, he was also his friend, the closest he had among with the other one. Others were all just acquaintances for his business.

He stood up when the door opened and the guard entered.

Vex eyed the man in a threatening gaze. The guy was obviously trembling because the basin he was holding was shaking. He looked down and focused on his steps.

"Please put that down on the bed, Marco." Azmael said and stood up to get back on the thigh wound.

"H-here are the towels." Marco handed the towels that were put inside a plastic bag.

"Thanks." Azi mumbled.

"Get out." Vex ordered in a low tone but the danger in it was resounding.

"Yes, boss!" He ran and closed the door hurriedly behind him.

"No clue where she came from or how she entered?" Azmael questioned. He started cleaning the wound and putting bandages on it again.

Vex's mind was fully confused too. If the woman was from where he thought she came from, then that means that she had a system in her. And she can use that to heal herself. But here she was, could be dying for blood loss.

"I had a hunch."

Azmael raised his gaze at him. "A haunch? What is it then?"

"She's Albrian."

He paused for a second in binding the wound. "My guess also. From the crest in her clothe. But she doesn't need this if she had a system."

"Hmm. That's what I'm thinking too."

"She could be someone important that they chose her."

"I don't care who she is or what she was in that realm. She's in my world now."

"Then why are you keeping her alive?" He repeated the question.

Vex wouldn't deny it anymore. A smile stretched his lips. "When was the last time someone tried again? More than a decade, right? And this time, they sent someone interesting. I'll kill her when she actually stole it from me. When I caught her red-handed. But for now, let me have some fun."

"What kind of fun?"

He smiled and Azmael never liked that kind of expression on Vex's face.

"Anything." Those words held such heavy weight of all countless possibilities of fun.
