It was past midnight, and the mansion was shrouded in a hushed stillness. Alexander Voss stood in his study, staring out the window into the dark expanse of the estate. The moonlight cast a pale glow over the gardens below, but his thoughts were far from serene. He had intended to visit the other wing of the mansion, where some "visitors" were awaiting his attention. Business, if it could be called that, always came with its share of complications. Yet, something tugged at his mind, an unease he couldn't quite place.
Pushing the thoughts aside, he adjusted his shirt and stepped out into the hallway. The marble floors reflected the dim light from the sconces lining the walls. As he turned a corner, his steps faltered. There, in the middle of the hallway, stood Anna.
