Freya's POV
I felt a whirlwind of electricity flood through me the instant my hands touched the relic. I felt invincible for a time, and the power was overwhelming and exhilarating. My senses were more acute than ever, and I could feel the energy vibrating through every muscle in my body.
It wasn't a gift, though. It was a curse.
The force surged through me until I was scarcely able to breathe. Like water in a cracked cup, it slipped through my fingers despite my best efforts to control it. I could feel my thoughts resisting as the artefact's darkness grew, but it wasn't enough. My hold on the relic was too tight.
"Stop, Freya! Finnick's voice sounded so distant as if he were shouting from the other side of the globe, even though it was urgent.
My vision became blurry as I turned. Behind me, the pack watched, waiting for me to take the lead. However, I was unable to. Not in this manner. It was too much energy.
