Chapter 2 - 002- THE PLAYER THAT DIED FROM DEPRESSION.

After I had made full recovery from my injury, I needed some time to return to full match fitness but the coach was a bit hasty with my return to the squad and his hastiness nearly ruined my career, I started making rookie mistakes during matches and at a point, I couldn't take it anymore and I confronted the head coach, I told him to give me sometime to feel my legs and that I needed a bit of time off the pitch but his statement in response literally broke any form of respect I had for him.

" but you uhm you haf talent you..good player so the ball you uhm have to play" . He wasn't all that good with English and half the players don't even understand him at times but I could more or less understand what he was trying to say and even though I was dissatisfied I complied.

In the first season I couldn't change anything on the pitch, I was better than all the other players in the squad but not up to my usual form. I could only score 25 goals and make 10 assists, again that was good and better than most of the other players in the squad but that wasn't me. And gradually I became like any regular Manchester united player a total fall from grace. I became a major news headline "the 300million waste of investment", United fans hated me and I started wallowing in self hate.

Three seasons went by and the bald man was sacked after he couldn't show any results the Manchester united squad had become like the Dutch national team with Dutch players here and there but I was able to secure my spot in the lineup and even starting over Bruno Fernandes in the attacking midfield at times even though I had my position in the wings but that was all there is to it.

Immediately after the bald Dutchman was sacked, Ruben Amorin was appointed head coach of Manchester united. I played one season under Amorim but that one season was the best in my entire career and Amorim was once of the best managers I ever played under. I scored 80 goals and made 40 assists and that season ended with Manchester united bringing in all the cups in Europe including the champions league except for the fa cup where we were knocked out of the competition by Liverpool. After so many years Manchester united had dominated the footballing world once again, I was so happy and I was adored. I became a legend amongst Manchester united fans, I was at the top of the world.

The second season started in the same manner. I opened the league with an hat-trick but half way into the league in a match against Liverpool at anfield, I was brutally fouled by Virgin van Dijk who was even banned for 8 months after the unsightly tackle. After the injury assessment it was announced that I couldn't play football again and that I might never be able to get out of bed. The footballing world went silent.

I wasn't able to digest that news and even Sir Jim Ratcliffe came to visit me, Manchester united made sure to take care of every of my needs and they tried their best to make sure I could recover, even to the extent of offering me a position on the board should I be able to get up but apart from that my entire personal life crumbled, all my friends were gone in a flash and my girlfriend who seemingly stayed with me was only here for the money and that was a fact I knew from the beginning of our relationship, she was already cheating on me with not only one but two guys, she did it to the extent that she was caught by the media, my mom who had stayed with with me got sick as well. My whole life took a completely dark turn and I really couldn't take it in, it was too much for me.

Everyday I spent on that bed without being able to stand up was emotionally painful. I had alot of money but it was essentially useless but there was one thing made me hang on and it was hope, hope for nothing in particular or maybe for my mom or for the fact that everything might change the moment I regained my mobility.

I was still managing and trying my best to survive in hopes for the future until one day, I saw a particular daily mail news on the TV that was set on the wall beside me. The doctors didn't tell me probably because they were afraid that I would give up but they forgot I was still a popular figure and a huge news like the death of my mother who had not been brought to my room the previous day was never going to be missed by the media.

"United's Lucas Gray's mother was reported to be dead yesterday, the doctors reportedly tried their best to rescue her to no avail what an unfortunate fate for the united man and the English football community will send their condolences....." the moment I registered what the reporter was saying, I was alarmed tear rolled down red eyes, my previously static hands moved a bit but it wasn't a sign of recovery, it was the beginning of my hopelessness my entire world went ghost quiet and the moment I lost all hopes and reason to even exist, I ceased to breath.

....

The death of Lucas gray caused a global sensation and even Virgil van dijk, the defender who was the root cause of the whole fiasco couldn't even continue his career, the hate was overwhelming, too immense for him to handle.
