Chapter 13 - ch13

"Pokémon competition?"

Hearing this term, Lily, Ethan, and Hannah were taken aback.

"Yes, Pokémon's allure extends beyond their cute appearances and likable temperaments."

"Attributes, abilities, and moves are all geared towards competition. Of course, this is just my perspective."

"But personally, I believe the greatest charm of Pokémon lies in the will and determination to fight in the arena."

Alex's words were filled with enthusiasm, but to consider the feelings of Lily, Ethan, and Hannah, he used a more gentle approach.

In the arena, Pokémon and Trainers fight passionately for victory and dreams, wagering everything—the deep allure is truly captivating!

However, Lily, Ethan, and Hannah didn't quite grasp this allure at the moment, or perhaps it was difficult for them to understand within their existing mindset.

Moreover, even in the Pokémon world, many Trainers and humans are more relaxed about battles.

Integrating Pokémon into everyday life is what Alex aims to achieve.

Just like in the Pokémon world, where people and Pokémon coexist harmoniously, that is the ideal scenario.

However, Alex's greatest anticipation lies in the Pokémon competition!

"Battle... isn't that just animal fighting?"

Lily blinked, as Alex's words shocked her.

Pokémon battles?

Isn't that what you call animal fighting? And isn't it orchestrated by humans?

But is this really acceptable?

Lily looked at the adorable Squirtle and couldn't imagine it going into battle.

That must be painful, right?

Lily frowned, feeling a bit uncomfortable; to be honest, she felt uneasy at the moment.

Ethan and Hannah felt the same; it was because of love that they didn't want to see their beloved creatures get hurt.

And organized animal fights have always been considered shameful and inhumane.

After all, they enjoyed a happy life and bought pets purely out of love, not for profit.

"Actually, you're overthinking it. Pokémon are quite resilient. As long as they're not attacked after being seriously injured, their lives aren't at risk."

Seeing their silence, Alex likely understood their thoughts and reassured them with a smile.

"And Pokémon competition isn't about animal fighting. Animal fighting is driven by people's desires and pleasures, ignoring the animals' wishes."

"But Pokémon competition is different. Pokémon are willing to battle because they have a natural talent for it, and they fight for their Trainers' honor and to prove their strength."

"Pokémon battles are not survival fights but friendly competitions—this is key."

Alex gently stroked Charmander's head and explained to the three of them.

He didn't want people to associate Pokémon competitions with animal fighting, as they are fundamentally different.

Animal fighting is a practice that's scorned and lacks humane spirit.

After hearing Alex's explanation, Ethan and the others seemed to relax a bit.

"Boss, let's talk about this later. I think we need time to digest it."

Hannah's eyes flickered slightly; to be honest, she was intrigued by the Pokémon competition Alex mentioned.

But she hadn't seen it yet and didn't want her Charmander to get hurt.

"Of course." Alex smiled and nodded.

In fact, it's too early to talk about Pokémon competition, given that only three people own Pokémon at the moment.

Well, excluding Alex himself.

"Boss, how do Pokémon learn new moves? Can my Vulpix learn other moves?"

Ethan asked Alex, glancing at Diancie subconsciously.

Wow, that Pokémon's moves are insane!

"Of course, it's possible. Although it's not listed in the Pokémon Pokédex, Pokémon naturally learn new moves as they grow."

"That's why Pokémon's human counterparts are called Trainers, and Trainers are responsible for nurturing Pokémon to help them grow better."

Alex patiently explained to the three of them, and truthfully, he had already considered creating a Trainer's beginner manual.

It was his oversight, as people in this world know very little about the Pokémon system, and he can't explain it in detail to every new guest, can he?

The Trainer Beginner's Manual was imperative.

"It's like a summoner and their summoned beast."

Ethan thought for a moment; it was similar to the summoner and summoned beast concept in fantasy novels.

The information was overwhelming.

"That's one way to look at it." Alex chuckled.

"This is truly amazing. Boss, be honest—are you an alien?"

"These Pokémon don't seem like something that would naturally appear here."

Hannah joked, awed, and then teased Alex.

Anyway, it was all so incredible, and for some reason, Hannah found it easy to accept and process this information.

Logically, encountering creatures resembling fantasy species should be unbelievable, perhaps even frightening.

Maybe it's because Charmander is so cute and harmless? Or perhaps it's her open-minded nature?

"Miss, you're quite the joker..."

Alex replied with a smile, amused.

Although he appeared calm, his heart skipped a beat.

Wow!

It seems the system's effect on people's cognition is a blessing; otherwise, throwing out so much information would have raised suspicions long ago.

After all, magical creatures like Pokémon have indeed made a significant impact on this technological society.
