Chapter 19 - ch19

"The price of Trapinch is 250,000. Are you still using a credit card?" Alex asked, leading Trapinch out from its compartment, smiling kindly at Hannah.

"Swipe the card," Hannah replied, handing her bank card to Alex without hesitation. She then looked at Trapinch on the ground with interest.

"Its head is really big, and it has star eyes," Hannah observed, blinking her eyes as she studied Trapinch for a while.

The basic color of its body was orange, with short limbs, a round head that seemed disproportionate to its body, a huge jaw, and white star-shaped eyes. Although it looked strange, it inexplicably gave off a cute vibe.

"Hello Trapinch, I'll be your Trainer from now on," Hannah said, squatting down slightly and greeting the very quiet Trapinch with a smile.

"Yi~" Trapinch tilted its head slightly, staring at Hannah, but still responded to her greeting with a low voice.

"Looks pretty cool? By the way, let's check the Pokédex," Hannah mused, thinking that Trapinch didn't seem particularly outgoing, but that was fine. If it were as lively as Lily's Squirtle, it would have too much energy.

Hannah took out her Pokédex and aimed it at Trapinch.

"Drip~ Trapinch, Ground type, Antlion Pokémon.

Ability: Force

Moves: Sand Attack, Laser Focus, Astonish, Mud Shot

Inhabiting dry deserts, its huge jaws can even crush large rocks, waiting for its prey to fall in motionlessly in its lair."

The electronic voice of the Pokédex briefly introduced Trapinch.

"Sounds great," Lily said, looking at Trapinch in astonishment. This introduction seemed to have a top rating, second only to the powerful Diancie.

Even large rocks can be easily crushed? How strong is its bite?

"Haha~ As expected of my favorite Pokémon!" Hannah rubbed Trapinch's round head happily, feeling very satisfied with Trapinch, which actually had four unique moves!

The happy Hannah completely forgot that she initially wanted to replace Trapinch.

Ah, people...

"That's why I said, Miss Hannah, your luck is really good, and this Trapinch has the Force ability and has already learned the egg move," Alex said, returning the bank card to Hannah and glancing at Trapinch.

Yes, Mud Shot is Trapinch's egg move, but here, unlike in the games, even egg moves need to be understood by the Pokémon itself.

And this young Trapinch had already realized Mud Shot, showing its talent was very good, not to mention it had the Force ability.

Force: The additional effects of moves disappear, but the power of the moves increases.

This is an ability that can boost the power of a move, and every ability that can increase the power of a unique move is undoubtedly powerful!

"Hee hee~ After all, I'm naturally as beautiful as a flower. I was named the school's beauty queen," Hannah said, her delicate and beautiful face glowing with confidence.

Naturally beautiful, is it any wonder I'm lucky? Hmph~

"..."

Alex smiled awkwardly but politely.

Lily rolled her eyes, too lazy to comment, while Ethan didn't even look at Hannah. Although she was beautiful, her character was a bit much—too narcissistic.

"Boss, I'll be leaving now. If I have any more questions, I'll consult you again," Ethan said, saying goodbye to Alex. He had asked all the questions he needed and had to go back to plan how to give Vulpix special training.

He was going to turn his Vulpix into the world's mightiest male fox!

"Okay, take care," Alex replied with a smile.

"This is the ground-based energy block that Trapinch likes to eat. Remember not to mix it up with Charmander's; they taste different," Alex said, handing two boxes of Trapinch energy cubes to Hannah.

"Don't worry, boss, I'm very professional when it comes to raising pets," Hannah assured, patting her chest confidently.

"Does Miss Lily want to draw again?" Alex asked, shifting his attention to Lily, who was also quite well-off.

"I don't need to for now. I want to focus on how to train the little turtle first," Lily replied, tempted but ultimately deciding against it.

She was different from Hannah and thought it was better to concentrate her efforts on training Squirtle first, then consider getting more Pokémon after gaining more experience.

"Okay, please remember to introduce some customers to me when you go back," Alex said to both girls, respecting their decisions.

"Definitely! Boss, I think you'll be very popular!" Hannah replied without hesitation, speaking sincerely to Alex.

Pokémon, Hannah had a feeling, would definitely become a sensation!

This was both a hunch and a hope, because even in the short time she had known them, she had fallen deeply in love with Pokémon.

And she was also enchanted by the competition of Pokémon battles.

Lily nodded in agreement.

"Thank you, I hope so too. By the way, I have something for you," Alex said, a smile on his face, as he remembered something and addressed the girls.

"Wow, does the boss have more presents?" Lily and Hannah watched curiously as Alex trotted to the front desk.

"I actually wanted to give these to you earlier, but Ethan left too quickly. I'll have to give his to him next time he's in the store," Alex said, spreading his hands as four small white spheres came into view.

"What is this?" Hannah asked, tilting her head in confusion. Were these glass beads?

"This is an essential item for Trainers. It's used to capture Pokémon and is also where Pokémon can rest during downtime," Alex explained, taking out a white sphere in his right hand and pressing it lightly. Under the surprised gaze of the two girls, the small sphere rapidly expanded to fit comfortably in his hand.

"It's called a Premier Ball. It's a special souvenir Poké Ball. Since you are the first customers of this store, this Premier Ball is a personal gift to each of you," Alex said with a smile.

That's right, it's a Poké Ball!
