"Is this Charmander great?"
Hannah looked at the picture of Charmander in the Pokédex and pondered, then asked Alex.
Honestly, she wasn't entirely convinced that this Charmander could really turn into a dragon, but the picture was undeniably cute.
But that wasn't her main concern. As the owner of a prestigious establishment, she had other considerations.
"What do you mean by great, if I may ask?"
Alex raised an eyebrow.
"Well, Squirtle can use Water Gun, so can this Charmander perform some sort of eruption?"
Hannah pointed at the Squirtle clinging to Lily's leg and asked, her focus somewhat unconventional.
"What are you talking about, Hannah? How could a pet perform an eruption?"
Lily couldn't help but be skeptical. While Squirtle can use Water Gun, there are animals in nature that can spray water.
But where would you find a creature that can erupt fire?
Ethan nodded in agreement, thinking that this affluent young woman's imagination was quite vivid.
"Why not? It's called Charmander," Hannah replied confidently.
"This young lady is right, why is it impossible?" Alex said with a smile.
Hearing this, Lily, Ethan, and Hannah were taken aback.
"Of course, Charmander is capable of eruptions. It's a Fire Type Pokémon, and it's not just Charmander."
Alex looked at the Vulpix in Ethan's arms. The Vulpix seemed quite relaxed and was adorably yawning at the moment.
"Sir, would you mind demonstrating with your Vulpix?"
"Uh... sure."
Ethan replied reflexively, though he wasn't entirely sure what was about to happen.
Demonstrate with Vulpix? What could be demonstrated?
Ethan placed Vulpix on the ground, and Vulpix looked up at him curiously.
"You're now Vulpix's partner, so ask it to use Ember," Alex instructed, placing a disposable cup filled with water in front of Vulpix and smiling at Ethan.
"..." Ethan glanced at the curious Lily and Hannah, feeling slightly embarrassed.
"Vulpix, use Ember."
But he was curious, perhaps even a little hopeful, and he gently encouraged Vulpix.
Then...
Under the astonished eyes of Ethan and the two girls, Vulpix opened its mouth, and small red embers were expelled from Vulpix's mouth, enveloping the paper cup.
The temperature of the Ember was high enough that the disposable cup softened, and the water inside began to overflow.
Silence!
"What the...!"
Ethan was stunned and blurted out an uncharacteristic expression.
His little Vulpix had just erupted fire?
Lily and Hannah were equally shocked and speechless.
"Pokémon are magical creatures. They have a variety of types and abilities, and they can use abilities corresponding to their type."
"You might find it hard to believe, but as you become more familiar with them, you'll get used to it."
Alex smiled and explained, emphasizing that Pokémon are not just cute pets.
It's important for people to understand their abilities.
"What an amazing little fox!"
Hannah looked at Vulpix in awe. It really could erupt fire!
"Type and ability..."
Lily was the first to recover, recalling these terms sounded familiar.
Then she remembered and took out her pink Pokémon Pokédex from her bag.
Yes, this was it!
Lily pointed the Pokédex at Vulpix, and its image appeared on the screen.
"Beep~ Vulpix, Fire Type, Fox Pokémon
Ability: Flash Fire
Moves: Ember, Disable, Tail Whip
At birth, it has only one white tail. As it grows, the tip of the tail splits, and the number of tails increases."
The electronic voice of the Pokémon Pokédex explained.
"What is this?"
Hannah asked curiously, intrigued by the Pokédex's introduction to Vulpix.
"This is a Pokémon Pokédex. Miss Lily bought it from me earlier. It helps you understand Pokémon better," Alex explained briefly.
"You may have many questions since you're new to Pokémon, but you'll come to understand them over time. But for now..."
"Young lady, do you like Charmander?"
Alex turned his attention to Hannah, who was still holding the store manager's Pokédex.
"By the way, about Charmander, boss, I want a Charmander!"
Hannah's eyes lit up as she remembered, turning eagerly to Alex.
Alex had clearly stated that Charmander could erupt just like Vulpix!
"Please wait a moment."
Alex smiled, nodded politely to Hannah, and headed toward the back room.
"I have a feeling there are so many secrets here, and a six-tailed fox can actually erupt..."
As Alex entered the back room, Hannah couldn't help but speak up, her mind full of questions.
Pokémon? Types?
Are these Pokémon really just pets? Water and fire...
"This store has a business license, and that's reassuring, isn't it?"
Ethan picked up Vulpix again, glancing at Hannah with a reassuring look.
He had his doubts but knew one thing for sure: he liked Vulpix.
And after seeing Vulpix erupt, he liked it even more!
"Ability: Torrent. When exhausted, the power of Water Type moves is enhanced?"
Lily navigated to Squirtle's interface, contemplating the details of the Torrent ability.
"So that's what this Pokédex is for."
Hannah fiddled with the Pokédex and pointed it at Diancie, who was watching TV.
"Beep~ Diancie
Rock, Fairy Type, Gem Pokémon
Ability: Clear Body
Moves: Diamond Storm, Moonblast, Stone Edge, Rock Slide, Light Screen, Ancient Power, and more
A mutation of Carbink, its shining pink body is praised as the most beautiful in the world. It compresses carbon in the air between its hands to create diamonds instantly. A legendary Pokémon."
The electronic voice of the Pokédex resonated in their ears.
Yet after hearing the introduction, the trio stared in awe at Diancie, who turned to look at them when she heard the Pokédex.
Although they didn't fully understand, they sensed that this beautiful little Diancie might be something special...
