It moved back a little because of fear as it was hearing tree branches moving from all directions.
The beast began to move around and suddenly Natsu flew towards it and kicked it right in the face and swung away.
The beast became cautious and began to look around the forest, this time as Natsu flew towards it, it used its hands to block the impact making it slide on the ground as Natsu disappeared.
Natsu realized that the beast was smart so he decided to change his attack pattern.
"It looks like the beast isn't going to go down that easily, and the worst part is that it's learning my attack pattern, so I have to change the way I approach it"
"Using my legs would wear me out, plus, increase my pain which means that I have to use something that is going to give it permanent damage"
"I'll just use my blade to cut it, it should cause it enough pain to weaken it, making it easier to kill" Natsu thought as he was swinging around.
This time as Natsu launched himself towards the beast, he threw one of his blades towards it.
The beast got stabbed on the hand and with reflex tried to pin him down, but noticed that it was a rope as Natsu flew and stabbed it on its back, making it to scream.
It tried to catch Natsu but failed.
Natsu jumped back and did a back flip as he threw the blade he was holding towards a tree branch and said, "ROS" as he flew towards it.
"That was close, I'm lucky it let go of the rope, if not, it would have been difficult to swing out of there"
"The hand signs are pretty useful when I don't want someone to know about my presence, but it can't work with one hand since it requires both hands to activate it"
"I should also make sure that I throw objects before I hit it, instead of using my blade, since it's possible for it to pin me down with it"
"Yeah, if I switch between an amount of object I throw, it will make me unpredictable, plus sometimes I can lunch attacks without throwing anything" Natsu thought.
"Alright beast, it's time to taste pain" Natsu said as he smiled evilly while swinging through the trees.
As Natsu was swinging around the trees, he began to break weak branch and placed them in his belt region.
He threw two branches towards the beast, but the beast launched an attack instead of blocking it.
It hit the first branch sidewards and threw a punch at the other branch, as Natsu flew pass it and stabbed it at the neck region, and swung away.
"Looks like it works" Natsu thought as the beast screamed.
Natsu this time threw different tree branches at different time, trying to see its speed.
After a while the beast noticed that it was just hitting different tree branches and became frustrated by that, as it screamed and hit its chest.
Natsu saw it as an opportunity and flew towards it, as he stabbed its head from its back, making the beast fall towards the ground.
Natsu removed his blade from its head and stabbed its neck, as he sliced its nerve in case it didn't die, and finally killed it with a hard pierce on its head while screaming.
"I did it, I killed it! Well I guess I can now put it into the bag, since I don't know what part of it is valuable" Natsu said as he stood up and loosed his bag from his back.
"How do I put this beast inside the bag" Natsu thought as the opened it wide and faced it towards the beast.
"Suck" Natsu said as he faced it towards the beast but nothing happened.
"Let's see, what about, Absorb!" Natsu said and suddenly a seal appeared and sucked the beast inside.
Natsu smiled and said, "Guess I'm done, it's time to head out"
As Natsu was about to leave to find the exit, after he closed the bag since he was done, he saw something fly pass him.
As he turned back to see what it was, he saw a monkey beast like the one he killed but a more muscular and masculine one, as it screamed and hit its chest.
"I can't wait for this exam to be over" Natsu said in frustration.
He began to run away from the beast, but the beast dashed towards him and punched him, making him fly very high into the air as he screamed out of pain and fear.
The beast began following him as it ran on the ground and jumped towards the trees and started swinging.
"This beast is way more stronger and faster than the other one I fought, does this mean that this is the male beast and the other is a female, or is it that this is the father and the other is its son" Natsu wondered.
"I can't think about this right now, the best thing I could think of is how I'm going to land and fight that monster" Natsu thought.
Natsu began to look around trying to figure out where to land, he saw the beast following him and noticed that the place he was going to land was an open field.
Suddenly Natsu felt a punch at his back that threw him towards the field.
Natsu broke the ground due to the force of the beast punch.
Natsu coughed out blood as he landed and then saw a big shadow heading towards him and got out of the way.
The beast landed on the ground which created a large dust of smoke, covering the whole area.
Natsu coughed as he thought, "That was close, I would have been dead if I didn't get out of there"
As he was coughing he heard the beast growl as he then thought, "I have to get out of here!" as he stood up and began to run.
The beast chased Natsu and punched him, making him fly and crash into the ground.
"I'm way out of my league, if I don't find a way to get out of here, I'm dead" Natsu thought as he tried standing up.
"But there is no way of me escaping from here, what should I do?" Natsu thought as he began running for his life.
He turned back and saw the beast screaming and hitting its chest, as it then ran towards him trying to kill him.
As Natsu was running facing his back he heard a hiss and as he faced forward, he saw a gigantic snake heading towards him.
"Oh shit, there's no way of me surviving this is there" Natsu thought.
The serpent mouth was wide open as it was heading towards him, he turned back and saw the beast heading towards him.
He slowed himself down as he began to run sidewards.
"Please both of you should just kill yourself, cause I don't have the time or the strength to fight the both of you" Natsu thought as he ran.
The monkey jumped and tried to punch the serpent, but the serpent dodged it and tried to bite the monkey, and before it could place its fangs into the monkey, the monkey held its neck as the serpent rapped its body around the monkey.
They both began to strangle each other as the monkey fell towards the ground and hits the serpent head on it, as they began to roll, trying to strangle each other.
"By the looks of this fight, I'm sure that the monkey would win due to its strength. Which means that if I want to kill it, I would have to wait for the perfect time to stab it's head or cut its nerve. But this should be done immediately the serpent dies" Natsu thought as he watched them roll on the ground strangling each other.
"But how in the world I'm I going to get up there to stab its head?"
"This is a very wide plane field, as far as the eye can see. Although, now that I think of it, the trees are pretty big but they are far away from me and on the other side, there are tall grass which looks like a maze, which would be hard to see and navigate through it"
"Come to think of it, why would the serpent leave an area like that and come to a place it can be easily seen" Natsu wondered.
"Does this mean that they are other contestants over there. If so, I should head over there. But how am I going to navigate through that maze?" Natsu thought.
The monkey screamed as it punched the serpent head using its right hand, while still holding the serpent neck with its left hand.
Natsu raised his head as he heard the noise and saw the monkey punching the serpent, as it used the serpent head to hit the ground, and tried to loosen the serpent grip on its neck.
The monkey then threw the serpent as the serpent freed it and rolled on the ground, as it slid on the ground and raised its head up while opening its mouth showing its fangs and hissed.
"This fight is going to be brutal" Natsu said.
"From the looks of it, the monkey just lost its advantage over this fight, it should have just endured until the serpent died"
"Come to think of it, its possible for the serpent to last longer making the monkey die before it, so maybe it made the right decision" Natsu thought.
"Hmmmm, I'm not sure, but my focus should be on how I'm going to get to the other contestants" Natsu said as he scratched his head.
The serpent looked at the monkey as it slid sidewards really fast and launched it self towards Natsu.
Natsu screamed and fell towards the ground as he saw the serpent heading towards him.
The monkey saw the serpent go passed it heading towards Natsu, so it chased it and gripped its tail and threw it away.
Natsu saw the monkey heading towards him as he stood up and began to run as fast as he can, away from it.
The serpent launched itself towards the monkey and used its tail to grab the monkey and threw it backwards.
"What in the world, they are fighting themselves on who would kill me first and not to kill each other!!!" Natsu thought as he fell down.
"What is wrong with this exam, aren't they meant to kill themselves!" Natsu screamed out loud as he stood up to run.
As he was running, he saw the serpent fly pass him as it rolled and stopped at his front, although they were distant, Natsu felt threatened so he turned back and ran.
While Natsu was running facing the serpent which was now at his back, he decided to turn forward only to see the monkey heading towards him.
"I'm cornered, how would I now get out of this?" Natsu thought.
But as he continued running towards the monkey, a bird swooped down and caught him, taking off to the sky.
The bird looked down and threw Natsu up and tried to swallow him.
Natsu shouted, "Stretch!!!" As he flew up and swung the rope throwing it towards the bird.
The bird saw Natsu holding a long rope which looked like a baby snake and slowed down to catch it.
As it bit the rope, Natsu grinned as he then said, "ROS!"
The bird was surprised to see Natsu fly towards it and held its feathers on its neck close to its beak.
The bird tried to shake Natsu off by performing stunts, but Natsu had a strong grip on its feather, so he remained on the bird, but later noticed something on its neck as the bird was moving.
