Chapter 34 - Cosmic Guardian

The tree had grown far much larger than before, and had a new silvery glow added to it. On the tree were different kinds of multi colored fruits, though Diane doubted if fruit like those could ever be eaten. Now she was confronted by the same boy, but he looked older- about fifteen. Now he just stared at Diane with those deep, unfathomable eyes. Apart from that, his blue hair had a shade of black to it. "How amusing." He began. "I was expecting them to show up, but you showed up instead." The boy said. Diane, who was sitting up now, blinked at him stupidly. "You.. do you remember me?" She asked. "Why won't I?" The boy asked as he stood next to her, resting his back on the tree. "It's not all the time that this place gets a vistor from the outer world." The boy said with a smirk. "And what do you mean by they?" She asked again. "Don't you have eyes?" The boy replied mockingly. "Look around."

What a grand sight it was. It was as if the Piece of land where the tree was on was another completely different world on its own, enclosed in a bubble like structure. Outside where other worlds, which were covered in the same bubble like structure but radiating in different auras. "You are more surprised than I thought you will be." The boy said, on noticing Diane's dazed expression. "You haven't heard anything of this sorts, have you?" He asked. "No I haven't. Care to explain?" Diane said, rising unto her feet. The boy however, just shrugged his shoulders. "If you know, you know." He said then leaned his head back on the tree, closing his eyes. "That doesn't explain anything. Hey.. are you even listening?" Diane asked. But no matter how hard she tried to get his attention, he just ignored her. Just as she was about to work herself into a fine temper, she heard a sound coming from one of the bushes. "Hey Kyle.. Kyle.." She heard the voice, but she couldn't detect the owner. Not too long after, she saw a white wolf with red eyes emerge. It was petite, fluffy, and quite chubby. What surprised Diane was that the owner of this voice was this fox like thing. It flinched upon noticing her presence. "Kyle.. who is this?" It asked, wanting to back away into the bushes. Kyle finally opened his eyes. "You are finally here, Eon." Kyle said. "Wait a second you are the Kyle?" Diane asked turning to the boy. "What does it look like?" The boy arrogantly replied. "Kyle you haven't answered me." Eon said, as it continued to step backward. "An anomaly" He said, as he briefly glanced at Diane. "Who do you think you are coming an anomaly?!" Diane said, as she stomped her foot. "I called you that because you are not supposed to be here." Kyle said. "Please leave. Now." Kyle said. "I don't even know how I got here, how do you expect me to know the way out?" Diane asked incredulously. Kyle sighed and used his fingers to pinch the bridge of his nose, giving Diane an overly familiar feeling of Deja Vu. "Kyle, it will be wrong to just leave her here." Eon said, as he stood beside Kyle. "I don't care what happens to her." He said as he approached the dense vegetation. Eon looked back at Diane, confused. "Kyle wait for me!" It said as it bounded down the paths, throwing one last look at Diane. "Wait!" Diane called after them, but they were long gone. "Just great." She said, as she went back to the tree and sat down there feeling a little despondent. She was so lost on her thoughts, that she didn't when a female figure approached her. "Hello. You seem to be new around here." The female said. Diane looked up to behold a young teenager, a little younger than herself, with jet black hair and captivating green eyes. The most eye catching thing was her white dress, that radiated like a billion suns. "No I am not. Actually, I don't even know where I am. I think I am from the outer world, or wherever you guys call earth." Diane replied monotously. She had no idea where she was, and all she wanted right now was to get back to her room. "Are you really from the outer world?" The girl asked,as her green eyes sparkled. "Yes?" Diane said, a little unsure of where she came from was actually the outer world or not. "That's great! I would love to know what it's like.... No, Arianne, stay focus." The girl said to herself, softly patting her cheeks. "I am sorry but I have to meet up with my friends." She said as she hurriedly left. "Wait!" Diane called after her, making Arianne to pause in her footsteps. "Your friend, is his name Kyle?"

Meanwhile, In a different location, but the the same world, Kyle and Eon were seen trying to fix a huge crack in the world's protective barrier. "No you damn wolf!" Kyle scolded harshly. "Are you trying to eliminate us all? It will cause the walls to get corroded faster!" "Sorry, I am sorry!" Eon whimpered. "It is just that, I can't deal with all this stress!" He added. "Stop making pathetic excuses!" Kyle yelled irritatedly, as he kicked the wolf with his foot. The four legged beast yelped and ran to a safer distance. "Kyle, you meanie!" It exclaimed. Kyle sighed. "Since he hasn't shown up, it means we are more than capable of handling it." He muttered to himself. "Guys, I am here!" Arianne said, as both she and Diane ran towards them. "What is the situation?" She asked. "Are you seriously asking?" Kyle snapped. At this point, there were several cracks on the barriers, converging and spreading towards the few unaffected areas. "I can't look, I can't look!" Eon whined, as he buried his head with his paws. Ariianne took a deep breath. Before muttering: "Enigma." Soon, the cracks, both little and small, froze in place, spreading no further. "Reverse Elimination." She called out once more. A bright light flashed, so bright that Diane had to cover her eyes. When she opened them, however after the light dissipated, there was not even a single scratch on the protective barrier. "Phew. That was a close one." Arianne said, as she dropped to her knees, exhausted. "Yay, Ria saved us!" Eon said shamelessly trotting to her side. "Get away from her, you useless mutt." Kyle said while kicking him away, without mercy. Ria laughed. "What am I going to do with you both." She said helplessly, as she stood up. "You are late." Kyle said. "Well, I had other things to do." She said, dusting her white dress. "You are the Guardian of this world." He told her. "I am just a fragment of a memory." She replied. "That changes nothing." Kyle said. "There is a huge difference." Arianne refuted. "Anyway, why did you bring her with you?" Kyke said, turning to Diane. "Where are your manners?" Ria said, stomping on his foot, making Kyle to double up in pain. "If not for Diane, I wouldn't have found you guys. Such a gentleman, leaving a beautiful damsel like her all alone!" Diane couldn't help but slightly cringe when she heard those words. Wasn't Ria, hyping her up a little too much? "Anyway Diane thank you." Ria said as she walked up to her. "You are welcome." Diane said. "So about the outer world, I... damn it. It seems like you are about to go back to your world." Ria said, as she observed the cracks that gathered around Diane's feet. "I don't think this is good bye, though." She added. The ground finally gave way, and Diane plunged into the deep.
