Diane was nearly nodding her head off from the chair which she was sitted across the bed. Her head was still tilting to one side, when she heard a knock on the door. She jolted up, immediately, a bit stunned, before walking towards the door. "Hey. How is he now?" Natasha said, as she squinted through the half open door. "Well, How is he now?" She whispered. "Fortunately, he is better now." Diane whispered back. "Do you want to come in." She asked. "No, I just came to check up on you guys." She said. "You should try to get some sleep, Diane. You are worrying yourself to death for his sake." Natasha said, a little cross. "He is already ill. It won't be fair to us if the both of you fall sick, will it?" Natasha said, her tone a bit solemn. "Understood. No need for you to waste your breath." Diane said, with a slight smile. "By the way, how are Theodore and the rest?" She asked. "Oh, they will be fine. A little worried, but they are good." Natasha replied. "And Leonia?" Diane asked again, knowing quite alright that handling that child was more than a handful. "She dares not act naughty with me around." Natasha said. "Well then, I should let you retire now. It's been a long day for all of us." "Take care Diane." Natasha said, as she proceeded down the hallways. "Yes. I will. Have a goodnight." Diane called after her. "You too." Replied the already fading voice.
Diane carefully closed the door. She got quite the start when she saw Diego sitting upright on the bed. "Gosh, you are awake. You scared me." Diane said, holding the left side of her chest. "Why? Did you think it was my ghost or something?" Diego asked, although with a serious expression. "You... Can you refrain from telling such jokes?" Diane said irritatedly, as she walked towards the bed. "Can you refrain from acting like a child?" Diego retorted, upon seeing that she had puffed up her cheeks. "You are impossible." Diane said as she broke eye contact. "And so are you." Diego flatly replied.
The room fell into silence for a while. Diego lay back down on the Bed, his eyes closed. But Diane knew he was still awake. "What are you doing?" Diego asked, as he felt a cool touch on his forehead. "What does it seem like I am doing?" Diane said. "You know, it is rude to answer a question with a question." Diego said. "You started it." Diane shot back. Diego exhaled loudly. "You really are a child." Diego said. "Well, on the bright side, your temperature is coming back to normal." She said. "Then I will go to the office tomorrow." Diego muttered. "You shan't!" Diane said, nearly vociferating. "But.. work." Diego began. "Theodore and Natasha will handle it." She replied curtly. "By the way, how long do you intend to keep watch over me? Aren't you going to sleep tonight?"Diego asked. "I was assigned to do just that." Diane said, with a determined look. "Nobody assigned you to do that." Diego began. "Thaniel did." Diane said. Diego nearly face-palmed. "Woman, get to bed. Now." Diego said. "I have a name, you know." Diane said. As she stood up from her chair, headed towards the bathroom, Diego seized her hand, and the force was so intense that she ended up falling on top of him, on the bed. She lay on his chest for a while, her mind a bit dazed. When she recollected her senses, she immediately tried to spring back up, but Diego pulled her back, to the extent that her jaw nearly hit his hard chest. "Diego, let go of me." Diane said, the tip of her ears turning red. "No, I am more comfortable this way. Let's stay like this for a while." Diego obstinately refused. Diane felt her face turn hotter by the second. "Diego, I need to pee." Diane muttered, while still struggling. "How dire is it from a scale of one to ten?" Diego asked. Diane felt like shouting: Shameless! But what came out was: " Diego please, I am about to wet myself." Diego, unsure if she was lying or not, had no option to let go. The moment she was released, she sprang to the bathroom door, bolting it behind her, like a rabbit hurriedly running to its burrow. "I escaped." She said. "I am going to wait here for a while." She said.
After wasting a good amount of time in the bathroom, she finally came out. Diego seemed to have fallen asleep, although he was still lying on his back. She gently closed the bathroom door behind her, and sneakily crept onto her side of the bed. "Is he really asleep?" She asked herself, as she leaned over him. Her hair, which was wet, slightly brushed his face. "You are finally done." Diego said, with his eyes still closed, before slightly opening them. "I thought.. you were asleep." Diane said, wanting to break eye contact. "You washed your hair? It's nice and soft now." Diego said, as she twirled her hair around his fingers, while Diane sat upright next to him. "Well, I couldn't just do nothing." Diane said. Diego proceeded to place his head on her lap. "H-hey!" She exclaimed. "What?" Diego said as he he looked at her. "Don't make sudden actions like that without consent!" She said, her cheeks turning a bit red. "So, I should seek consent from my wife before laying my head on her lap?" Diego asked. "That's not it." Diane said as she turned away. "And besides, this whole husband and wife thing is just a facade." Shs added. "Your cheeks seem pretty red." "Shut up!'
After bantering for a couple of minutes more, the duo(Couple) fell asleep. Diego still had his head in Diane's lap, and Diane was still sitting upright on the bed, with her head tilted to one side.
The breeze was nice and gentle. Diane's eyes finally fluttered open. "Why... Am I here again?" She asked no one in particular, upon seeing the tree, which she was lying under. "You are finally awake." A familiar voice said. "I thought you were going to sleep for all of eternity."
