Chereads / Revenge of the fallen angels / Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

With anger written all over her face, she ran away from the angelic guards who were treading on her heels. Even though she was moving unimaginably fast, she still couldn't lose them. They clung to her like Velcro to a dog's tail. Apparently, they were ordered by the Archangels, who wanted to punish Alison. The fallen Angeles had to suffer the consequences of having betrayed them, despite her credit of trust.

Someone had seen Alison. She was careless and lacked the cunning that Jack and Rafael had. They were able to mask themselves perfectly — hiding from the angels so well that no one could suspect them.

Until Alison turned them in. Then they suffered the appropriate punishment, which at that moment was planned for her. For disobeying and turning away from God. The archangels despised her more than the others because she lied to them. She vowed to help them catch a dangerous demon, and went over to his side herself.

She cursed under her breath when she realized she had fallen into a trap. Furthermore, she found herself at the very end of the town — a place from which there was no escape. In the forest, where the punishment was served to all the fallen. For all eternity, with no possibility of rescue.

The only exception was Jack. He had always shown cleverness, and was more skilled than the others. Therefore, he now existed as one of the most dangerous demons. The strongest, and moreover, elusive. He was a legend in the underworld.

- Damn! - she shouted with hatred in her eyes, looking at the guards who faced her, blocking Alison's escape route. Behind her was a transparent wall that did not allow extraterrestrials to leave the town. On either side was a forest from which the fallen angel had no way out, and angelic guards stood in front of her, ready to capture her.

- Surrender. You can no longer escape," ruled one of them, at which she smiled mockingly.

- And do you have handcuffs, boys? - She asked, in her head, devising an escape plan. What should she do? She guessed that she wouldn't be able to break through their protection. As a novice, she was still weak.

- Are you trying to be funny, Alison?

- This is not a joke. I'm asking seriously," she replied, putting on a fake smile. - I only prefer black. Don't accidentally leave me with white ones, angels. - She raised her hand and squirmed slightly when she saw a scratch on her painted nail. - What are you standing there for? Are you not moving to action?

- We can see that you are clearly up to something. We are waiting for backup," he announced, and Alison burst into pearly laughter.

- Do you think I'm that dangerous?

- We need someone stronger. Just in case," he announced, and the brunette raised an eyebrow in curiosity when she saw Henry's silhouette behind them. She felt even more amused.

- What are you calling me for, donkeys? - He asked with his head lowered, playing with some kind of device in his hands. Alison noticed that it was a children's game.

- We caught her," the guard replied, and Henry raised his face, and in the first moment he froze. He didn't think Alison would fall into their hands so easily. He had made her escape possible - given her freedom. Furthermore, he didn't think she would mess it up so quickly.

He combed his fingers through his hair in embarrassment and looked at her amused face. She was completely unconcerned that she was trapped. However, he could not help her now. Disregarding the past, he was obliged to carry out the order. As an angelic guardian, he had to obey the orders of the Archangels. He was not going to make the same mistake as Alison.

- What a beautiful night, isn't it? - she declared, looking at Henry. She read from his face that this time he was not going to let her go. He only gave her one chance, which she didn't use well, so she had to suffer the punishment.

- Alison, do you know it's over? - The angel asked, and a grimace twisted her face. She looked around to the side, perfectly aware of the voices of the fallen who told her to fight.

- And who says so? - She asked with derision in her voice. - You?

He did not answer. Something else caught their attention. The eyes of the guards visibly widened, as if triggered by a slight fear. Only Henry maintained his seriousness. He always showed courage - regardless of the situation.

Alison looked over her shoulder curiously, and a faint smile appeared on her face. She raised an eyebrow and, crossing her arms over her chest, slowly backed away from Jack. She didn't think he would move to her rescue, but since she fell, she got the impression that their relationship had improved markedly. He accepted her because she had joined the dark realm.

- Ali, you're good for nothing," he proclaimed in greeting, grabbing her forearm. Henry took a step forward, as if to confront him, however, he hesitated. This time, Jack had Alison on his side. - Without me, you wouldn't have made it in our world. They would have imprisoned you in this boring place where you would have spent all eternity. - An arrogant smile appeared on his face. - Should I do that? Let them do it? - He asked roughly, bringing back memories of when she betrayed him.

The girl lifted her face and carefully looked into his eyes. She felt slight anger because he could indeed do it. Take full revenge so that she would finally feel the same way he did when he spent more than a hundred years here.

- So do it," she said, without looking away. The brunet smiled half-heartedly and embraced her chin, stroking her skin with his thumb.

- I won't because I've really taken a liking to you lately. You are so naughty," he stated with amusement in his voice. - It would be a shame to waste it.

Henry pressed his lips together, and the angelic guards were still stuck in place, waiting for an order. They knew what kind of power Jack had, so they put their faith in Henry.

- In that case, we gather," the demon stated in a bored voice, however, before he moved, Henry imposed a blockade. The fallen one laughed and pointed a finger at him. - Nice try, angel.

And although he did it a second time, Jack was ready and broke through his protection, considering his abilities to be quite average. Since this was their strongest guard, he had confidence that Henry would never win against him. Jack was in a superior position. The angels had no chance.

- He is stronger than I. We will never beat him. - They both looked at Henry, who looked worried. - You are the best of us all, and he can defeat you. How did you bring him to God's court? How did you manage to catch him?

- It's a long story... Maybe one day I will tell you," he said quietly, wondering how he will explain to the Archangels that they failed to capture Alison. They will be unhappy that he missed such a good opportunity because he was defeated by Jack again. They were entitled to take the title away from him, as he had not performed well in recent times. Furthermore, they could have demoted him because he was not as strong as his predecessor.

Henry feared that they would reinstate Michael because he had displayed more power. He handled every threat and never suffered a defeat. He was the angel who properly took care of Jack and Rafael when Henry was only his helper. Likewise, he seated them before the divine court, and this caused him to be promoted due to his merits. He guarded the gates of heaven, being close to the Archangels.

Henry was not coping. He was too weak to deal with the angelic guardians. He was losing faith in himself more and more. Jack was stronger, and the only worthy opponent who could punish him again was Michael.

They gave Henry many chances because they believed he would eventually prove himself, but after today's situation, the angel sensed that his end was coming. They were going to make him a regular guard, but he was most afraid of looking Michael in the face. His friend believed in him, he was the one who had offered him the job, and Henry had ruined everything.

Again.

Sitting on the couch, Jack burst into loud laughter, recalling Henry's pathetic attempt. He reached from the table a glass filled with expensive whiskey and took a small sip, enjoying himself perfectly.

- Something is wrong. Either he's getting weaker or you're getting stronger," Alison remarked, looking investigative at her former lover. The brunet smiled under his breath and licked his full lips, playing with the glass in his fingers.

- I am gaining in strength. The more cruelty I do, the more powerful I become," he announced, lifting his gaze to the fallen Angeles. - All I need is a little more time, and no one will be worthy of fighting me. Therefore, I also advise you to start doing something because you are weaker than the angelic guards. Shame," he stammered, shaking his head with displeasure. - It would be a shame if they captured you because now we get along great. You don't want to lose that, do you? Admit it, you're having a great time.

Alison smiled under her breath, noticing a spark of desire in his eyes. She noticed that he had started looking at her differently since she had fallen. As if he were enthralled by her, as if he desired her anew.

- Do you think so? - She asked provocatively, resting her chin on her hand and leaning toward him.

- Don't try to seduce me," he announced with amusement in his voice. Alison squinted her eyes and suddenly snorted with indignation.

- I'm not at your fingertips anymore. Those days are over when I ran after you like a bitch," she stated with irritation in her voice. Jack took another sip, not taking his eyes off her. He was having a great time teasing the fallen Angeles.

The girl was not going to let him become her weakness again. She coveted only him, but planned to make him cloak himself at her feet this time. She had suffered enough in her previous incarnation. It was time to change roles.

- So you're saying you're not even a little interested in me anymore? - He asked with a roguish smile on his face that drove her insane. She felt like reaching out to him and taking control of him, but decided that it would be him that would drive her crazy. He would be the one who would be jealous of her.

He sat down in the same position as her and rested his chin on his hand. Furthermore, he bit his finger, deliberately provoking the girl to convince her that he could still drive her crazy. However, Alison wasn't about to fall for it. She guessed what was on his mind. He was trying an intrigue, and she would rather not give him the satisfaction.

- Sarah," he spoke up unexpectedly, raising his hand in the air. Alison froze with her eyes at the fallen angelic woman who entered the club. She headed for their table, showing her teeth in a beautiful smile. Although Alison didn't try to show it from herself, she felt unimaginable jealousy. She hated this woman so much that she felt like disfiguring her in the cruelest way.

She clenched her fists under the table, piercing Sarah with a hostile gaze.

Furthermore, she felt Jack's gaze on her, so she glanced at him, noticing the triumphant smile on his face. He noticed that she was jealous. And then she came to her senses.

- Alison. - The young woman turned to Jack's companion, giving her a fake smile.

- Don't you have other friends? You come in like such a dumpster and hang your tongue to your waist.... - Unable to stifle her anger any longer, she berated Sarah straight to her face about what she thought of her. She wanted her to know how much she hated her.

- Alison," replied Jack, covering his smiling mouth with his hand so as not to offend Sarah. She was an acquaintance with whom he got along well, but a jealous Alison amused him incredibly. He enjoyed her presence because since she had appeared in a brand-new guise, everything had changed. He was missing such good entertainment, which no one could provide him. She was special.

- This word is not foreign to me. My lover still calls me that, and I find it appealing," she said, twisting her lips in a slight smile. - So, if you wanted to insult me, then you did poorly, newbie.

- Your lover must be intelligent if he figured you out right away. - Alison snorted under her breath, throwing her an envious look, especially as she took her seat next to Jack.

Sitting across from her, she still had to look at her disgustingly perfidious face.

- Yes he is intelligent, and more importantly there is also something we both hate," she declared, raising her eyebrows.

- His face? - the brunette bit back, glancing at Jack, who did not take his eyes off her. It had been so many years since he had last looked at her like that.

- You, moron," she replied, glancing at the demon out of the corner of her eye. She must have been a concretely evil woman, since, possessing a lover, she was dripping saliva until she saw another man.

- Rafael is her lover," Jack interjected, which made Alison smile broadly.

- Ah, now I understand why he calls you a dumpster," she announced. - When I was an angel, he wanted to score me because he said that experiencing it with an angelic woman must be heavenly.

Jack furrowed his brow. Alison noticed that the expression on his face had changed. Did he look as if anger had seized him?

- What did you say? - Sarah rose from the couch. She glanced at the brunette with a sharp look.

- When I think about it, it seems to me that he always had the hots for me, but he knew he was without a chance, and it drove him crazy. Hence, the hatred for me," she announced, feeling satisfaction as she looked at Sarah's angry face. She wanted to kick her more and destroy her, but this one, in a fit of fury, caused all the glasses lying on the table to break. Jack reacted faster, so he stopped the shards, which flew toward Alison. The brunette managed to cover her face with her hands, but none touched her skin.

- Stop it! - roared Jack, as this finally angered him. Alison uncovered her face and threw Sarah a dangerous look.

- If you disfigured my skin with scars.... - she began, breathing loudly. - I would find a way to annihilate you at all costs. You'd better watch yourself, or you might regret it," Sarah threatened, feeling like tearing her apart. Never before had she felt such strong hatred as she did at that moment. This woman was Alison's greatest enemy, and the fallen Angeles swore to herself that she would not let her off the hook. As soon as she gains more power, she will do everything to destroy her.

- Get out of here, Alison. You've spoiled my mood, so I would rather not see you anymore," Jack ruled, pushing her toward the exit. However, the brunette was not going to be submissive. What was he thinking?

She furiously knocked his hand away and, looking at him with frantic eyes, felt like punching him. It was the first time she was so furious that she wanted to hit Jack because he sided with her enemy. She regretted that she was the weakest of all of them because she would have taught them a lesson without any restraint.

- Regret it! Both of you! - She shouted on the way out, heading up the stairs to the door. Something was wrong. She felt anger so strong that she was losing control.

Without using her hands, she opened the door, which thrust open with such force that it flew off its hinges. Alison got the impression that she was gaining more power through her strong anger. She realized that she had to be angry to the marrow of her bones to show them that she was a worthy opponent. After all, no one would carry her off. This was too much.

With frantic eyes, she looked around her, killing passersby who stood in her way. She felt an incredible satisfaction. She was amused by the suffering of innocent people.

It was nighttime, so there were only a few victims on whom she could get a kick out of. She needed more adrenaline, so she headed to the building where he lived. She walked up the stairs and, without knocking on the door, stepped inside.

Furthermore, she headed to the bedroom and there met George, who, clearly shocked, rose from his bed.

- Alison, what are you? - he asked with panic in his voice when he noticed that she had taken off her blouse. He opened his eyes wider as the fallen Angeles, with palpable brutality, pushed him onto the bed and sat on it with an arm around him.

- Today I will make your dream come true, so shut up and cooperate with me.
