"Hey Liv, how are you holding up?" My dad asked as soon as I picked the call.
"I'm fine dad, you should know me by now, I'm capable of taking care of myself," I said.
My dad can be very protective especially when he's out of town and now that he's away for a month I can see he's already worried.
"Are you sure? Do you need me to get Luke to come stay with you for a while?" I just knew he would mention Luke.
"Dad, really I'm fine, I don't need a baby sitter. I'm almost eighteen," I whined.
"Alright, alright if you say so," I heard him chuckle. "Your mum and I miss you."
"I'm missing you guys too. How's mum?"
"She's fine, really busy."
"Say hi for me."
"Will do. I've got to go sweetie but I'll call you later okay, take care of yourself." I said goodbye and he hung up.
As if on cue I heard the familiar roar of Eli's engine getting closer. When his car came to a halt in front of me I leaned on the passenger's door and waited for him to bring out the file.
Today was Friday, another day that I'd be racing so I had to come get the file like usual.
A cigarette was hanging on his lips so I stretched my hand towards it and took it from his lips placing it on mine and taking a drag.
After handing me the file, he snatched his stick back and drove off. I laughed and hoped on my bike, not even bothering to open the file; I was going to wait till I got home.
When I got home I ordered pizza and sat on the couch, stretching my legs on the coffee table. I took out a cigarette and lit it. Balancing the stick on my lips, I opened the file.
This was once again a new racer, his name was Raven and he was just some guy, not involved in any gang.
Done with it I took out my phone and began to scroll through Instagram and five minutes after a doorbell had me standing up.
I was kind of disappointed when I saw it wasn't Ace who came to deliver the pizza. I don't know why but I was disappointed. I paid for it and closed the door behind me.
After eating and binge watching an entire season of Merlin, I realized that time had gone and Jane and Chloe would be coming over soon to help me get ready for the party.
I actually love Merlin, it's a classic and it's really interesting. When I tell people I watch Merlin for fun they give me weird looks so I don't sat it out loud.
It's completely unnecessary for Jane and Chloe to 'help me dress up' but I guess there's something about getting dressed for a party in groups.
I cleared the living room and went upstairs to take a shower, I'm pretty sure I reek of smoke right now. After showering, I was still in my towel when I heard my door bell.
Jane and Chloe were standing there and I ushered them in. When in my room, Chloe started going through my closet looking for the perfect dress while Jane plugged in the stretcher, ready to work magic on my hair. My hair is naturally wavy so sometimes I like straightening it.
I let Jane do my hair and makeup which I made sure was very minimal. I have a race later and I don't want my face to be too caked up when I race.
When Jane was done with my makeup Chloe shoved a black dress into my hands to change into it. It allows for a lot of cleavage to show and it stopped mid-thigh. Since I'd be coming back home to get my bike, I'd just change when I come home.
Since I have to drive later, I won't be drinking so I'm the driver for tonight. I know they wouldn't be leaving that party anytime earlier than midnight so I'd have to go for the race and come back to pick them.
When they were both ready I complemented them and we all headed downstairs to my black Lamborghini.
The party was already in full swing when we get to Red's house. The house is actually big and I admire the decor.
Weaving our way through the crowd, we made it to the kitchen to get drinks, well they got drinks, I just took a clean cup and filled it with water.
The girls dragged me to the living room which was converted to a dance floor. Red did a nice job though. I was dancing with the girls and when I got tired I took my sit on a couch in the corner.
"You came," I heard a familiar voice say from beside me and I turned to look at Red.
He looked the same but the lighting in the room was making it hard to see his face well.
"Nice party," I told him and he nodded.
"Wanna go for a smoke?" He asked and I nodded desperate to get out of this room filled with drunk and sweaty teenagers.
He lead me to a room which was empty and I plopped myself on the bed, getting comfortable.
Red opened the patio doors to let more air in and he pulled out a packet from his drawer, taking out a stick and pulling it to his lips. "Got a lighter?"
"Yeah," I took mine out from my purse and lit the cigarette on his lips for him.
He took a drag and I took the stick from his lips, taking a drag too. I should really stop smoking.
"So what's your name?" He asked, exhaling the smoke. I watched as it clouded around his face.
He was now sitting beside me, not so much space between us. "Phoenix," I answered.
"Oh please, we both know that's not your name. What's your real name princess?" He took the smoke from me.
"You've been at North Wind High for almost a week and you still don't know my name?" I was shocked, there's no way that he wouldn't have heard my name being mentioned once.
He smirked, "I want you to tell me yourself."
"What is your name?" I diverted the question to him.
"James," he said flatly.
"James?" I wasn't expecting that, he doesn't look like a James to me.
He laughed, "so will you tell me yours now?"
I smiled, "Olivia." I took the cigarette from him.
"And why do you smoke, Olivia?" His face was closer than before.
"Stress relief," I shrugged. "You?"
"Bad habit."
Now his face was inches from mine and when I exhaled the smoke I just took in, it went straight into his mouth. He took it in and exhaled.
This shit was crazy but I didn't mind. Eli and I used to do this a lot of times. I took in a drag again and let it out, this time around his face was way closer so I was literally exhaling into his mouth.
I looked down at his lips, they were pink, too pink for a smoker. Well mine was pink too, mainly because I don't do it every time or every day, sometimes I can go a week without smoking, that's the highest I can go.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" He asked, his eyes trailing down to my lips.
I licked my lips, "no."
Just as his lips were about to meet mine, my phone rang in my purse causing me to scramble away from him, taking out my purse. It was my alarm for the race, I knew that I could get carried away so I set an alarm.
"I have to go," I stood up from the bed.
Red did the same, "you have a race?"
"Yeah. I'll see you around James," I walked towards the door.
"See you around," he winked and with that I closed the door behind me.
What the hell just happened?
Don't tell me I was just about to kiss that guy.
But it wouldn't have been bad anyway, I don't have a boyfriend so it's not like I'd be cheating, plus he's hot so there's no big deal.
Not that I'd deliberately want to kiss him but if it happens then that's alright.
Quickly driving to my house, I took my bike and rode to the tracks.
"Hey Liv, how are you holding up?" My dad asked when I picked the call.
"I'm fine dad, you should know me by now, I can take care of myself," I said.

After eating and binge watching a few episodes of Merlin, I realized that time was far spent and Jane and Chloe would come over soon to help me get ready for the party.
It was completely unnecessary for Jane and Chloe to 'help me dress up' but I guessed there was something about getting dressed for a party in groups.

"You came," I heard a familiar voice say from beside me and I turned to look at Red.
He looked the same but the lighting in the room was making it hard to get a good view of his face.
"Nice party," I told him and he nodded.
"Wanna go for a smoke?" He asked, and I nodded, desperate to get out of this room filled with drunk and sweaty teenagers.
I expected him to lead me upstairs or to a more private part of the house, instead; he led me outside the house.
"Let's go for a walk." He explained.
"Oh," I nodded in understanding and began to pull out the pack of cigarettes in my purse. I placed the stick between my lips and stopped walking so Red could light the tip.
I took a long drag and exhaled, closing my eyes. We continued walking, now heading in the opposite direction from where I parked my car earlier.
Red reached for the stick and I let him have it. "So what's your name?" He asked before taking a drag.
"Phoenix," I answered.
"Oh please, we both know that's not your name. What's your real name princess?" He offered the stick back to me which I gladly took.
"You've been at North Wind High for almost a week, and you still don't know my name?" I was shocked, there was no way that he wouldn't have heard my name being mentioned once.

"And why do you smoke, Olivia?" the cigarette was far from his lips, his hand hanging in the air.
"Stress relief," I shrugged. "You?"
"Bad habit." He took a drag of his own.
"Why are we walking away from your party? I thought you'd want to be back inside to stop people from breaking things?" I hadn't seen a host disappear from his party to take a walk.
"My friend has that covered. Worry not." He gave me an assuring smile. "Do you have a boyfriend?" He asked.
I pulled my bottom lip between my teeth, "no."
He was saying something but the loud ringing of my phone drowned out his words. It was my alarm for the race, I knew that I could get carried away so I set an alarm.
"I have to go," I stopped walking and turned back to the direction we were coming from.
Red did the same, "you have a race?"
"Yeah."
We walked back to his house in silence and when were in from of the house I gave James a smile. "I'll see you around James."
"See you around," he winked and with that I headed for my car.
