As I came to a halt my heart didn't stop beating so fast so I held my hand to my chest, closed my eyes and rested my head on the steering wheel.
The cheers of people got louder and I shook my head before stepping out of the car, heading straight for Eli and Theo.
"Who won?" I asked as I stopped in front of him.
He looked petrified, I was too but only a little. I won't be surprised if I looked the same way he did right now.
"It was a tie," he spoke and once again my heart skipped a bit.
"What? That's impossible," my mouth dropped.
"It is possible," Theo piped in.
I looked at him in disbelief. No one, no single person had ever tied with me.
I turned my gaze to Anonymous and he was leaning on his car, arms crossed.
I walked over to him, "who are you?"
He just shrugged not answering my question and that got me angrier. I balled my hands in fists beside me before turning back to Theo.
He was now beside me, Eli came up behind me.
"What do we do now?" I asked.
"Either you split the money, meaning everyone goes back home with their five grand and forget about the race or you take your money and rematch," Theo said looking between Anonymous and I.
"Rematch," I said without skipping a beat.
"Li-Phoenix!" Eli exclaimed nearly saying my real name.
I gave him a warning look to control himself, "what? I want a rematch." I repeated.
"You have to think about this," he said more calmly now.
"There's nothing to think about, I want a rematch," I shifted from Eli.
"Fine," he gave in.
I looked at Anonymous, "rematch?" I stuck out a hand for him to shake.
"Rematch," his voice was so deep and I swear it sounded really familiar. I'd even say it sounded like Ace's but I shrugged the thought off.
He shook my hand and I noticed that he was wearing gloves like I was but his was different, his covered his entire hand while mine covered only the palm of my hands and not the fingers.
"Next Friday," Theo announced.
"I can't next Friday, make it Saturday," I said.
"Next Friday or no rematch," Anonymous said and I took in a breath.
"Fine, next Friday." I nodded.
With one last look at Anonymous I walked away with Eli in tow.
Five minutes after I was sitting in the passenger's seat of Eli's car as Eli drove. He gave Nick the keys to my Lambo to take home while he drove me home.
"Calm down Liv," Eli said stealing a glance at me.
"Yeah right," I scoffed and turned to my window, looking out.
"Really Liv calm down," Eli said this time more concerned.
"I'm calm okay? I'm calm!" I threw my hands in the air.
He didn't say anything else. Shortly after he pulled into the gas station nearby.
"Liv, I know you're infuriated, I am too but you have to be calm, please." He was fully facing me now.
I took in deep breaths before nodding my head. He stepped out of the car and began to fill the car with gas.
The car of Anonymous came into view and parked just behind Eli's. I wanted to get down from the car but I noticed another car drive into the station and parked behind Anonymous' car.
I watched as Anonymous came down from his car and at the same time the driver in the black car came down too. He was wearing a black hoodie like Anonymous was and together they walked farther away from both their cars.
From the side mirror I watched them and it looked like they were in a heated argument.
Eli climbed back into the car and before I could say anything he was driving away. He looked more on alert now than before.
"Eli what's wrong?" I looked between him and the person's we left behind in the gas station.
"Nothing," he shook his head.
"Eli-"
"It's nothing okay? Let's just get you home," he said in that tone of finality and I swallowed the rest of my words.
The drive to my house was silent and when he finally pulled up to my driveway I didn't wait to hear what he had to say before storming out.
He didn't follow me and I was happy with that. Since Cal was still sleeping I quietly closed the door behind me and when I got my room, changed and snuck back into bed.
I didn't sleep back until like an hour later.

At the end of school the next day, I found myself jumping to my car.
I made a quick stop at The Bean House and got iced tea and when I got into my car about to drive off I got down and got one for Ace. I could only hope he liked it.
I pressed the doorbell and waited for him to open up. A minute after he did and the sight in front of me nearly got me dropping the iced tea in my hand.
Ace was standing in front of me wearing only the jeans he wore today, his chest completely clad. I could see his tattoos and just as I saw them the other day, they covered most of his chest and arms. There was no denying that Ace worked out a lot because he had a perfect six pack.
"Shit," he cussed before slamming the door in my face.
I shifted, slightly startled at that. Seconds after he reappeared, now wearing the long sleeved shirt he wore today.
He looked like he was going to shit himself. "Sorry about that, come in." He opened the door wider ushering me in.
I gave him his iced tea, "here you go. I got this for you."
He took it from me, eyeing the cup. I chuckled, "it's just iced tea."
He looked back up at me before taking a sip of his drink. He nodded, "The Bean House?"
"Yeah."
"Thanks, come on." He led the way to his kitchen.
I sat where I sat yesterday and he took his seat beside me. His backpack was already on the kitchen counter so he just took out his books and I did the same.
I looked at his chest which his shirt didn't do a good job in hiding the layers of muscle underneath, "why don't you want people to see your tattoos?"
If he was shocked by my question, he hid it very well. "Because I don't want attention," he looked at me.
"Then why get them in the first place?" I held eye contact.
"Are you here for me to tutor you or for you to ask questions that clearly don't concern you?" His face once again didn't change.
This guy was the definition of frustrating and annoying. I scoffed, "whatever."
I let him teach me calculus and for a little while I was following him but when he mistakenly rolled up his sleeve, which was for a short second before he regained his senses I couldn't get my mind off of the image of his tattooed chest and arms.
Why in the hell would someone with such beautiful body and face, yes I called him beautiful, want to hide it. I didn't know how he hid his face in school but he did it well and in a way it annoyed me.
I was sure if the entire school population saw how gorgeous and sexy he was, he wouldn't be tagged as a 'nerdy weirdo.' My friends would probably want to be-friend him, the entire female population would want to get into his pants. I wouldn't blame them.
I thought back to the first week of resumption trying to remember if I had any memories of his face around but I came short. But I did remember some guy who was always wearing a hoodie and only brought it down unless the teacher told him to.
Now that I thought about it, that might have been Ace trying to blend in. Yes we did have some students in our grade who always wore a hoodie to hide themselves from everyone and I was sure Ace thought it brilliant to do the same. After all no one really gave them a second glance.
But how come he stopped hiding his face under a hoodie? No matter how hard I thought I still found it difficult to figure out Ace. He was like that annoying puzzle that you couldn't fix.
"Earth to Olivia," he snapped his finger in my face bringing me back to reality.
I looked up at him, confused.
He sighed. "You weren't listening were you?"
"I was," I lied.
He dropped the pen, "then show me what I just told you."
I looked at him, then back at the book, "okay I wasn't listening." I admitted.
He rolled his eyes before proceeding to explain again and this time around I listened to him.
The hour rolled out and Ace decided to end it for the day saying he had to get to work.
Holding our bags we both walked out of his house. I waited for Ace to lock up before walking to my car.
I looked around for his truck but when I didn't find it I gave him a confused look. "Where's your truck?"
"My brother, I'll walk." He started to walk.
"Wait, get in I'll drop you off." I offered.
"No thanks, I'll be fine," he shook his head.
"Come on, I'm the one who has a reputation to keep up not you." He stopped walking. "It's the least I can do for a guy tutoring me for free," I hoped that would change his mind.
"Fine," he walked back and I smiled, unlocking the car and getting in.
He got in and put on his seat belt. I was expecting him to look around the car like everyone that entered my car for the first time did but he didn't even seem fazed by it.
I shrugged and put the car in motion. Halfway there he spoke, "nice interior."
I smiled, I wasn't really expecting that anymore from him. Not that there was anything extraordinary it's just that the car was all red inside and everyone just seemed so wowed by it, well everyone but Ace.
"Thank you," he said when I parked the car.
"You're welcome," I took off my seatbelt ready to come down too.
"Where are you going?" Ace looked at me confused.
"I'm hungry," I deadpanned.
He relaxed back on the chair, "your usual?"
"Yeah," I nodded.
"Wait here I'll get it for you," he climbed out of the car and I watched as he walked into the building.
I began to scroll through Instagram and decided to open Ace's page. He had two new posts and one looked vaguely familiar.
I thought hard and remembered that it was that night that I had gone out for a walk and Ace met me at the park.
The picture was taken in a way that I was a silhouette and you'd never know it was me. The sunset was behind me and it was obvious that I was on a swing. In one word the picture was beautiful.
I took a screenshot of it and liked the post, not caring that he'd know that it was me. The caption was 'nature is too beautiful to ignore.'
I remembered him saying those words to me and I remembered clearly how I reacted. I continued scrolling through Instagram and a knock on my window startled me.
I looked up and found Ace standing there, a box in his hand and he was now wearing the usual red shirt and face cap with his glasses now on.
I took out money from my purse then wound down the glass. I took the pizza from him, "thanks." I gave him the money.
"See you tomorrow," he said and I smiled. He always dismissed me with words that sounded like he was tired of my presence.
"See you tomorrow," I wound the glass back up and pulled out of the lot, hitting the road.
