In the Duke's chambers, the only sound was the scribbling of his pen as he wrote letter after letter by the light of the lamp on his desk. "In faith, Lord Caspian Clifford." He signed the letter and stretched in the chair, checking his watch. 'It's late. Time is running away too fast these days, especially when a delay can cost my life,' Caspian mused as he got up from the chair, went to the basin near his dresser, and washed his face with cold water.
'I hope Jovana isn't rushing to someone's rescue without a good plan. Because right now, I don't know how to help her,' Caspian mused, and the thought of that brought a smile to his face. He walked back to his desk, opened a drawer to get some papers, and froze.
The deadbolt of the drawer's lock had a red mark on it. A warning mechanism was built inside the desk. Someone had turned the key twice instead of once and triggered the security device.
