After dressing up for the ball, Jovana went to the living room where she saw Elijah waiting for her. She sighed, thinking, 'I didn't think it was a good idea for him to come, but he didn't want to hear my arguments.'
"How do you feel, Eli? Are you sure you can go to the ball with me? You—" Jovana paused when she noticed that Elijah was not wearing the usual suit; he was in a navy blue military uniform. 'What? Does he miss the battlefield?' Jovana mused.
"Elijah Stafford, what is that?" she asked, using his full name.
"Well, I can tell you it's not a gardening outfit," Elijah joked, and Jovana frowned. "Come on, don't make that face. It's just a matter of etiquette. A military uniform is the preferred attire for attending the ball."
"My invitation didn't say anything about the military." Jovana trailed off when Elijah took her hand and spun her around the room.
