Jovana took Xena by the arm and dragged her near the two ladies as she pretended to look at a dress. "Oh, Xena. I'm so worried about my future. I don't think I will be able to score as highly as I did in the competition," Jovana said, and Xena looked at her, lost.
"What are you talking about?" Xena whispered, while Jovana squeezed her wrist to keep her quiet.
Jovana continued, "I'm telling you, it's hard there. I only have the most charming nobleman in the kingdom and a very attractive genius. And I don't know who gave you that unreal locket you are wearing, but he must be rich and handsome."
"Yes. He is." Xena replied, playing along with Jovana.
"Don't you know that some girls get engaged to balding old perverts? Not to mention other girls who will have the privilege of watching their frivolous husbands gamble away the fortunes of both families?" Jovana said, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips.
