Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Parental bonds

Long before Lily was born, a couple was deeply in love with each other but both were infertile. After years of failed attempts to conceive, they turned to a mysterious scientist who appeared young, younger than expected but claimed he could create a child for them using advanced genetic engineering. Desperate for a family, they agreed to the procedure, unaware of its consequences on their future offspring. While this was happening, a huge crash was heard beneath the earth's crust, causing monsters to erupt on the surface. One of these monsters had a fortitude of 12, which was incredibly powerful. Thankfully, the couple were international agents working with Corps World, an island filled with hunters who waited for this moment.

Meanwhile, the scientist was working on giving the couple a kid, when a monster peaked his head, making a loud scream, attracting more monsters, and surrounding the lab. Since the parents were agents, the scientist was not too scared because he too had a safe system to protect himself and the baby.

Suddenly, the monster with a fortitude of 12 appeared out of nowhere and charged straight at the scientist, who quickly activated a hidden defense mechanism to protect himself and the couple. After a couple of hits, the monsters rush into the lab. The couple decides to leave the lab, trying to distract the monsters, hoping to either kill them all or hold them off till backup arrives. The scientist knew that their only chance of survival was to lead the monsters away from the lab and towards a more secure location. As they ran through the dark forest, the couple could hear the monsters closing in behind them, their roars growing louder with each passing second.

The couple fought for a long time, leaving the monster with a fortitude of 12 left. Which later put them in a tight spot of life and death. The monster broke them both mentally and physically; even when backup came, they could recognize them. Tout-a-coup, a large slash sound was heard, splitting the monster symmetrical from its vital point upwards, leaving blood everywhere; some even fell near the lab. Now the scientist was left with the responsibility of caring for the embryo until it became a living being.

A year later, the embryo has fully formed, making a baby. Instead of feeding the baby milk or normal baby food, the scientist chooses to run an experiment on the kid, using the blood collected during the death of the monster. He claimed it had the texture of breastmilk. The experiment was successful because the baby grew at an accelerated rate and displayed enhanced abilities. However, as the child grew older, it became clear that the scientist's tampering had unforeseen consequences. So he filed his experiment as failed, later giving the kid to his married friend with an unborn child. Then later joined Corps World, because their hunters were all dying when encountering the monsters because their training wasn't matched with the real deal.
