Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Slow but painful

Days have passed, weeks have passed, and months have even come and gone. Lily was still unconscious. Her body remained motionless, trapped in a state of limbo between life and death. The passing of time only deepened the anguish of those who cared for her, as they watched helplessly, wondering if she would ever wake up. Each day ticked by felt like an eternity—a slow and agonizing wait for a miracle that may never come. One year is about to pass by. A few people with gas masks were passing the apartment Lily had been in since the start of this problem. They were indeed investigators, searching for people who may have survived. As the investigators combed through the apartment, their hearts sank at the sight of the devastation and emptiness that surrounded them. The once vibrant and lively space now stood as a haunting reminder of the unfolding tragedy. Despite their grim task, they held onto a glimmer of hope, knowing that there might still be survivors clinging to life amidst the wreckage. That's when they meet Lily; she is still unconscious but not dead. Lily lay motionless on the floor, her body covered in dust and debris. The investigators had rushed to her side by the time they noticed her, carefully assessing her vital signs and gently trying to revive her. As they worked tirelessly to bring her back to consciousness, they couldn't help but wonder how she had managed to survive the devastating incident. The investigators speculated that Lily might have found a safe spot or been shielded by some debris, which protected her from the worst effects of the incident, possibly contributing to her survival.

Each time, the investigators put effort into waking her up from being unconscious for so long, but all that effort and time were starting to be deemed a waste because she wasn't waking up. Then there was a little girl named Emily, about a year younger than Lily, who was unaware of the seriousness of the situation. She thought that it was a good idea to jump on Lily to make her wake up. Emily's innocent attempt to wake Lily up was met with mixed emotions from the investigators. On one hand, they appreciated her genuine concern and willingness to help.

On the other hand, they knew that jumping on Lily could potentially cause further harm or injury. Despite their reservations, the investigators carefully explained to Emily why her idea might not be the best approach in this situation. Not listening to the crew, Emily takes a few steps back and begins to run at the fastest her tiny legs could take her. She jumps and lands on Lily's stomach, forcing her to blurt out coughing. The investigators quickly rushed to Lily's side, concerned about her well-being after Emily's unexpected jump. They gently helped Lily sit up and checked if she was okay, assessing any potential injuries. Emily, realizing the consequences of her actions, looked remorseful as she watched the investigators attend to Lily. They emphasized the importance of considering others' safety and reminded Emily to always listen to instructions to prevent accidents in the future.
