Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4- LIFE AND DEATH

>Jumal

Once there was a man, a great devotee to Jehins the God of light, who devoted his whole life to seeking knowledge from the light. His eyes were pale white to navigate in light and dark, the pale eyes helped him to look directly into the sun. He built a school in the heart of Genari Forest, named Lumohall, but the name changed to Jumali after the death of the Jumalas the devotee. The people who studied there were called Jumal, only a few Jumal had pale white eyes, and those who had them had to do a special duty to God. The duty varies from person to person but after it, the person loses their power and memory to become a normal person.

15 years ago in Jumali, Arnold Shall was 21, it was his graduation day. He was sitting on a wooden bench in the middle of the school garden, he was thinking of what he would do in the future, as he was thinking a lady in red robes came to him,

"You are Shall right?" That lady asked

"Yes, Madam Novel," Arnold replied and stood up,

"Is there anything I can help you with, mam?" Arnold asked,

"Yes, the headmaster is waiting for your sight," Novel replied

"What? The headmaster?" Arnold was in shock as the headmaster never wants anyone in his room,

"Come with me," Novel said, Arnold followed her, she was the deputy mister of the school, and she had pale eyes too like Arnold, but her eyes didn't change consistently like Arnold's.

The school had six blocks forming a hexagon-like structure and a green garden in the center. Each block was three stories tall and had angular roofs on top. It was a big school, and it could easily accommodate 1000 people. The school was in the middle of a dense forest, so it was hard to find.

They entered the headmaster's room, it was a dark room with a single light source from a small oil lamp on the table, the headmaster was sitting on a chair and looking through documents that were piled up like a mountain. The headmaster saw them, "You came," he said,

"Yes sir," Arnold replied,

"Your call is for a reason," The master said,

"Yes sir, how can I help you," Arnold said,

"It's not for me, but for the god. It's time for you to take your duty,"

"What duty sir?" Arnold asked,

"I don't know, but you should go to Maloon," The headmaster said,

"Maloon? " Arnold,

"Yes Maloon, your duty is in Maloon,"

"Can I know more about the duty, sir?" Arnold asked,

"There is nothing to say more, I said everything that the god told to me," The headmaster replied,

"Okay sir," Arnold said,

"Wait, I forgot to tell you, Once your duty has ended, you will forget everything and lose your powers. It may take days or years for your duty to fulfill, but don't rush, though you don't know what duty you are supposed to, there comes a time when you'll find out about it." The Master said. Arnold exited the room and sat on the same wooden bench he sat on earlier, he took a deep breath and thought about everything the headmaster said.

After thinking, he went to the horse stable and started his journey to Maloon.

It was night, and Gabriel went home to rest, he prepared food and took a bath. Gabriel lived alone in a small house south of the town, he made egg soup and plain rice. After eating he went up to his deck and sat on a wooden chair, he looked up to see the beautiful night sky, the stars were bright and the moon was elegant. He noticed steel armor scatted down and reflecting the moonlight, he lifted the helmet and a few letters fell. He took them and removed the seal of one of the letters, which was from the Qual Kingdom, he opened the letter and quickly closed it, he didn't even read a word from the letter and threw it down. His eyes were wide and his hands in his hair, he deeply exhaled and closed his eyes.

The morning sun rose, Gabriel woke up, he slept on the deck. His house was surrounded by green trees, those trees were not too big and he could see the blue sea from his deck. He went down through a narrow staircase and went into his house, it was a single room with a small bathroom, he washed his face and went to his workplace.

He reached the shop, Gorge waved his hand, and Gabriel waved back and went in, he changed into his work clothes and was ready for the day. The sun was at its peak, Gabriel went to the nearby bakery, bought one loaf of bread, and sat on a chair outside the bakery. He started eating it, after eating he started his way to the fish shop, a man in all black bumped into him, "I am sorry," That man said, "It's okay," Gabriel replied, that man didn't listen and was in rush, Gabriel found a small gold piece on the floor, he tied to give it to that man but he left already. Gabriel took that gold piece and wrapped it in a piece of cloth.

Gabriel reached the fish shop. Gorge was cutting fish for a customer, after finishing, "Did you eat Gabriel?" Gorge asked,

"Yeah," Gabriel replied,

"Are you free this weekend?" Gorge asked again,

"Yes, do I have to work another shift?" Gabriel asked,

"No, no, it is a free day for you, I meant we could go somewhere," Gorge replied,

"Yeah I am free, but go where?" Gabriel asked,

"Antold," Gorge said,

"Antold? Where?" Gabriel asked,

"Antold, the temple of God of Wisdom," Gorge replied,

"I didn't know there was a temple of wisdom,"

"What seriously, then we must go there. It is the best place in the whole town," Gorge said

"Okay I will come, weekend in two days right, I'll come,"

"Alright then," Gorge.

It was already dusk. Emma and her father still had a considerable distance to cover. They paused by a small pond to rest, the day having been rough for them. Steven secured the horse to a sturdy tree trunk and took Emma to gather firewood. Together, they collected a bundle of small dry tree branches and transported them to their campsite. Steven added some dried tree bark scraps to make the ignition of the wood easy, Steven ignited the wood by rubbing two sticks, and the fire lit the whole area. Steven even collected thick grass for them to nest on.

They roasted the corn on the flames, it was a memorable day for them. After eating the roasted corn, they nested in the grass they collected.

It was midnight and a cold blaze was surrounding them, they were in the middle of the forest with no human settlements nearby. Emma woke up as her eyes were feeling bright, she opened her eyes and saw the light coming through the pond. The light was too bright, it felt like day but night, she got off the grass bed and went up to the pond to see what was in there. She could see nothing but light, she bent down and touched the water, the water was cold at first but slowly started to warm up. Her mind was bothering her to jump into the water, but she did as her brain commanded, she removed her shoes and jumped into the water. She went deep into the pond to see the source of the light, and as she went deep, she saw an underwater tunnel. She went through the tunnel. She didn't know how to swim but she was fast and was able to breathe underwater. As she was going she saw many fishes and other aquatic creatures, the tunnel got to its end, and she exited it and ventured deep into the water. She saw the source of light and swam towards it. As she got closer, she noticed it was a sword stuck into a rock, she pulled it without any effort, and as the sword was out of the rock, the light stopped. She swam up to see where she was, it looked like a city or town. She went back the same way she came to inform her father. She reached the campsite along with the sword she pulled, she got off the water and turned back, there was a creature completely made out of the water, it looked like a horse but with no hair, It suddenly disappeared into the water. Emma read about it in a book, it was a Hydrolog, which was a mythical creature entirely made out of water, many believe their existence and many don't.

Emma didn't notice earlier that her body was dry, even her clothes were dry. She wanted to tell her father about all that but he was asleep. She left that sword next to her grass bed and slept.
