Chapter 15 - A lesson learnt

As Peter explained everything Fiannar kept silence and only nodded from time to time. He would even glance at Alexander as well. Alexander studied every single movement of this bald man very his best to read him.

Finally as when Peter concluded the room was silent.

The next second Fiannar stood to his feet and gave a slight bow to Alexander.

"Thank you for saving my son." Fiannar said. Alexander stood to his feet and smiled.

"It was no problem. You have a very good relationship with my father and I couldn't just watch as an innocent person got killed." Alexander smiled and bowed as well.

"Even so, I wish I could reward you. Alas the rules forbid me." Fiannar sighed with regret.

The rules of the town stated that no elder was to give any physical help to any of the students in the Academy. This way all students in the Academy would start to cultivate on equal footing. Alexander was well aware of such a rule which was why he never asked his father for anything regarding items as he knew he couldn't get anything.

Fiannar walked towards Alexander and extended his hand. Alexander accepted it with a warm smile.

"We will repay this some day." Fiannar said. This was what Alexander said wanted, a favour from one of the top clans.

"I hope to see you again, young master Alexander." Fiannar said and Alexander bowed before excusing himself to leave. Before going through the door Fiannar called for him.

"I hear the forest safe zone is now filled with students from the Academy." Fiannar said.

"Oh yes, it's getting a little hard to get some beast to battle and increase my strength." Alexander said with a sigh and Fiannar looked confused. "Is that so? Who would have thought that the four safe zones would be filled with students." Alexander suddenly came to reality. He bowed again and immediately left the mansion. He got home and went straight to the study of the house. He found a map the town and smiled.

El'goroth was located in the middle of the forest alongside many other towns and villages. El'goroth had a total of four safe zones. The biggest safe zone was more than 4 kilometres wide and long and located at the north. The second largest was located at the east which was a lot 3 and half kilometres. The third largest was located on the south and 2 kilometres wide and long. The last one being located at the west was a kilometer wide and long.

The reason for these safe zones having little ground wasn't that they didn't have beasts there it was quite the opposite. The number of corrupted animals there were less. And the town head would send a number of warriors to make sure that the beasts there would be taken care of.

Alexander sat on his seat and chuckle. He was not expecting to gain anything from Fiannar at the moment but it is was it is.

The next day Alexander woke up bright and early. He went to the Academy and everything went the same way as usual. As it was closing time the students began to form groups and head to the forest. Alexander watched them for a while before heading the other way. The students seeing this were a little surprised. But they just thought he wanted to rest.

Alexander was glad no one was following him. It wasn't like he was hiding all the power to himself. He just didn't want to be bothered. He wasn't some selfish person or greedy for power type person. In fact he welcomed the challenge. The more strong opponents he faced, the excitement in him was be brought out.

He got out of the southern part of the town gate and went straight for the safe zone forest. His smile grew wider and wider as he stepped inside.

A month later.

In the forest safe zone of the east of the town El'goroth. Alexander walked out with his Sabers and little bits of blood on him. He went straight home and immediately took a bath. After a long deserved bath he laid on his bed.

It had been a month since he started to head to the other safe zones of the forest and he grew quite a lot.

He smiled at his increase in mana and level. And went to check his skills.

His dash skill had helped him in quite a lot these days and upgrading it was his main priority. He didn't care for another skill as the system advised him to wait and at the right moment he would get skills that would be of great help to him.

"Light Step" at level 1 (lower tier):

Skill Name: Light Step

"Upgrade both skills please." He gave a command.

{Congratulations both skills have been upgraded.}

"Dash" at level 2 (lower tier):

Skill Name:Dash

Level: 2 (Lower Tier)

The increase in dash was not as incredible as he thought but it was okay since at the end of the day it was still a Lower tier skill.

"Light Step" at level 2 (lower tier):

Skill Name: Light Step

Level: 2 (Lower Tier)

The upgrade in light step was incredibly pleasant. The mana required increase quite a bit but the results were amazing.

This might Alexander slept well.

The following day he woke up and went for his breakfast as well as went to the Academy. As usual he left the Academy and today he was going to the western forest safe zone. This was one of the most dangerous parts of the forest but who cared. Alexander was walking on cloud nine. He was invisible and no one with the same rank was his match and anyway possible. It felt good to finally get the confidence he had in his old life.

In the forest he came across a fox. The little fox was feeding on a deer corpse and was eating extremely fast. Alexander jumped out of the forest and showed himself to the fox. Why would he hide from this little corrupted animal.

"Ahwww!" The fox howled in the air and two more bigger foxes appeared. These were the parents of the little fox. Alexander's smile increase even more and he took deep breaths.

"Now to start the fun."

*Dash*

He disappeared from his spot and appeared beside the little fox.

Ten minutes later.

Three dead foxes were on the ground being in a pool of their own blood. Alexander sat a few foot from them and was catching his breath. "What a good harvest. Too bad they started to fest on the deer. I haven't had one in a while. Maybe I should go deeper and..."

Immediately he felt a cold and powerful pressure from behind him. He stood to his feet immediately and looked behind him. He was rooted to the ground from what he saw.

In his old life and world, these creatures were the definition of disgusting. The creature was green skinned and stood on two legs. It was short, had a bald head and sharp teeth. It had a piece of clothe rapped around it's private part. This was a goblin. This goblin had many scars on its body and a large one on its face that was leading towards the right shoulder of the creature. In it's hand was a stone dagger. Before Alexander could fully processing what was happening three more came from behind the first one. These ones were not as scary but still had cold glances towards him.

{Race: Goblin

Rank: 1st form

Attitude: None

Blessings: None}

Alexander's guess was right. The first one was the leader and was at its first form.

{Race: Goblin

Rank: Semi-1st form

Attitude: None

Blessings: None}

The other ones were all semi-1st form goblin which meant they were a step away from being 1st form beasts. Goblins were unique creatures that were born at the Semi-1st form stage. This gave them advantage over corrupted animals. The goblins at the back took a step but we're immediately stopped by the leader.

Alexander smiled. "So you challenge me you disgusting worm. Let's battle."

*Light step*

He disappeared from his spot and appeared a few foot away from the goblin. Moving his Sabers and trying it slash it's head. What Alexander wasn't expecting was for the mother of reality to punch him in the face I'm the form of this goblin. As he was sent flying and crashed to the ground he felt a kick to his stomach which made him cough out blood. He was sent flying once again. The goblin, going for another kick felt something from its side and jumped back. Alexander's shadow dashed towards the goblin not giving it time to rest and kept on battling it. It tried striking it but the goblin was easily avoided it. It was not because the attacks were predictable but they were just to slow.

The goblin, now bored killed the shadow in the stomach and immediately grabbed his hair and smashed it's face to the ground. Using it's stone dagger, it stroked the head of the shadow which disappeared immediately after. The goblin stood to its feet and looked at Alexander who was no longer there and had disappeared from his spot.

"Roaarrrr!" It roared in anger that it's prey had escaped.

Outside of the forest safe zone and close to the town western gate, a boy with a broken nose was walking slowly towards the gate. Anyone who looked at him could tell that he was badly wounded. After crossing the gate he fell on his knees.

{Your shadow has been destroyed and it had damaged your soul.}

{Two weeks required for damage to be healed and shadow to be brought back.}

Alexander fainted immediately after.
