Waltons said, "Come on, let's see who has the king of spades." As he spoke, he flipped his card over to reveal the King of Spades.
William looked at the card in Ellie's hand, but before he could do anything, Ellie flipped her card over.
The people around looked and saw that the ace was in Ellie's hand.
"So it's in Ellie's hand."
"Why don't... let Ellie choose someone to kiss at will."
As soon as this was said, everyone present became excited.
William's "no" was drowned out.
"Choose me, choose me."
"Look at me, look at me."
"Hahaha, it's just a kiss, it won't hurt."
In the midst of their laughter and teasing, Ellie picked up her wine glass and said, "I choose to drink."
Waltons warned, "Ellie, you have to think about it, the penalty drink is not an ordinary drink, haha, let alone you, even we can't handle three glasses of it."
Although he was warning, his gaze fell on Ellie's lips.
They looked soft, and he wondered how they would feel to kiss. He had never kissed a girl like her.
Kissingers also said, "Oh, sister, drinking is so uncomfortable, you might as well choose someone to kiss at will, it's just a kiss after all."
Ellie clutched her wine glass, still cold, with a layer of mist on the wall from the chill, her fingertips were a bit white from the cold, and she said, "No need."
As the wine glass reached her lips, William snatched it from her hand and drank it all at once.
Everyone around was stunned by William's action.
Kissingers said, "Master William, don't break the rules. The game has just started, there's no drinking for others."
William gave him a cold look.
Kissingers felt a chill down his spine from William's gaze. Although the young man was two years younger than him, his expression was somewhat frightening, too oppressive.
He licked his lips, but he couldn't take back what he just said.
It seemed he had made William angry.
But initially, he didn't see him speaking up for the girl, thinking their relationship was just ordinary classmates and didn't care.
Now it seems otherwise.
Waltons saw the atmosphere had become stiff and wanted to mediate, but before he could speak, he saw William grabbing Ellie's wrist.
William cornered Ellie in that small space and lowered his head inch by inch.
He stared at Ellie's red lips, watching her expression.
He really had the urge to kiss her.
He held half of Ellie's face and said in a voice only the two could hear, "I won't really kiss you, don't worry."
Their noses were almost touching, and William stopped at this distance.
Ellie's face was very hot, and her heart was pounding out of control.
The lighting in the private room was already a bit dim.
Everyone couldn't see clearly, and seeing William's actions, they all thought he really kissed her.
William's throat rolled a few times, then he propped himself up and sat up. If the lighting in the private room wasn't so dark, one could see his slightly red ear tips.
The people around were still teasing.
William said to everyone, "The game is over, I'll take her back."
Waltons stood up and said, "Are you coming back, Master William?"
William glanced back and said, "You guys play, I'll be back later."
The evening wind was a bit cool.
Ellie walked in front, and William walked behind her.
He took off his coat and draped it over Ellie.
Ellie looked at the coat on her, then at his hoodie, and said, "I'm not cold."
William glanced at her dress and said, "Keep it on, it's cool in the evening."
After that, he stood next to Ellie without speaking, just taking out his phone to call a car.
William said to Ellie, "The car hasn't come yet, wait a few minutes for me."
Ellie watched him walk towards the nearby convenience store.
William came out quickly, took out a bottle of milk from his pocket, and handed it to Ellie without any extra words.
Ellie looked at the bottle of milk, the familiar taste, the familiar brand, still warm, and she was a bit dazed, as if she had returned to the past.
William would buy her warm milk to warm her hands and then walk her home.
But now he calls her Ellie and says thank you to her.
He doesn't love to laugh anymore.
The car came quickly.
Ellie wanted to take off the coat and return it to him.
William said, "It's a gift."
His voice was cold and indifferent, with no discernible emotion. The two sat in the back, both silent.
Ellie felt that they really had become very distant. She glanced at William and found him lowering his head, his eyes already closed.
Before she came, he seemed to have already drunk a lot.
William wasn't asleep at all; he just didn't know how to face Ellie.
They arrived quickly.
William got out of the car, then held the top and watched Ellie get out. They walked side by side for a while.
Ellie thought of his stomach and spoke first, "Did you eat dinner tonight?"
"No."
Ellie paused and said, "Drinking on an empty stomach is not good for the stomach, drink less."
If it were before, William would surely tease with a smile, "What? Is the little teacher concerned about me? This bit of alcohol is not enough to get me drunk."
But now, his fingers curled a few times, and he said, "Thank you."
Under the stimulation of alcohol, William now has an urge to hold her.
He's not drunk; in fact, the cold wind has made him more sober.
He just wants a hug from her, just one hug.
Before, only Ellie would ask if he was in pain when he was hurt.
He wanted to say that he was feeling very uncomfortable now.
It was a discomfort in his heart.
But he couldn't.
He escorted Ellie to the downstairs.
Ellie took off her coat and handed it to William, saying, "Here's your coat, thank you for taking me home."
"You're welcome." That place was not a good one; if Ellie was targeted, she was so innocent that she might be taken advantage of completely.
So William had to take her out, take her home.
Before leaving, William looked at Ellie and said, "Don't come to places like this in the future, this is not a place for you, and don't come looking for me."
Before Ellie could speak, William left.
She watched the young man's retreating figure, feeling inexpressible emotions in her heart.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Clearly, the most normal two sentences, but she felt a complex mix of feelings in her heart.
She thought again of when she first entered, William sitting alone in the corner, his face expressionless, looking somewhat lonely for no reason, and he seems not to be happy now either.
As soon as Ellie opened the door, she heard the quarrel inside. Jennifer and Edward saw her come back and restrained a bit.
Jennifer said, "Did Ellie eat dinner? If not, mom will get you something to eat."
Ellie shook her head and said, "No, I'm not hungry."
Ellie returned to her room and took out the bottle of milk that still carried body temperature from her pocket. She stared at the bottle of milk, lost in thought for a while.
In a place where Ellie couldn't see, William looked up at the building, and only after seeing the light on in her room did he leave.
