Chapter 25. So Well-Behaved, Huh?
Ellie didn't understand how basketball was played and was pulled over to watch by Aria. She had a lollipop in her mouth, watching a group of teenagers playing basketball on the court.
"Ellie, look at William, he's so handsome," Aria tugged at Ellie's arm.
Although William is a bit fierce on ordinary days and seems unapproachable, it has to be admitted that he is really handsome, with a bit of a ruffian and wild vibe. He looks thin, but he's explosive when playing basketball. Previously, when he casually lifted his shirt while playing, she seemed to have caught a glimpse of his abs.
Ellie responded and followed the direction Aria was pointing to see William. Although he was still wearing the school uniform, there was something different about him. As for what was different, Ellie couldn't quite put it into words at the moment.
Flanked by two people, William made a fake move to shake off his opponents and threw the ball.
The basketball neatly fell into the hoop.
William high-fived with his teammates and smiled.
The girls around them cheered loudly.
Ellie realized that William, who usually seemed careless and always looked like he was sleepy, was glowing when playing basketball.
The teenager was undoubtedly the most eye-catching on the basketball court, both in terms of appearance and skill.
Sarah appeared next to the two again, holding a bottle of water. She suddenly leaned close to Ellie and said, "Is the candy delicious?"
Ellie nodded seriously, then took out a lollipop and asked, "Would you like one?"
Sarah shook her head, smiled, and said, "I don't eat candy. Could you do me a favor?"
"What favor?"
Sarah held the water in her hand and said, "Could you deliver this bottle of water to William for me?"
Ellie asked, "Why don't you deliver it yourself?"
Sarah recalled how she had offered water to William before, but he didn't even glance at her and just walked past her. The only time William responded to her was when she almost pushed the water in his face, and he coldly told her, "I don't drink it."
However, she later found out that William didn't just refuse her water but also refused water from others, which made her feel better.
The reason he didn't accept anyone's water was because he was too fierce. Many wanted to give him water, but few dared to, so naturally, there were few rejections, and it wasn't a question of accepting or not.
She smiled at Ellie and said, "If I deliver it, he won't take it. Could you try for me, please?"
Ellie stared at the water in her hand for a while without speaking, then after a while, she said, "He won't accept it even if I deliver it."
"You two are deskmates; he will definitely take it. Please, could you help?"
Ellie wanted to say that although they were deskmates, they weren't that close.
"Please, help me out."
Ellie agreed and took the water from her hand.
William saw the hand extended towards him and was about to refuse when he met Ellie's clear apricot eyes. He was stunned for a moment. His well-behaved deskmate had come to watch basketball, which was quite unexpected.
"For me?"
Daniel looked at William, then at Ellie, and couldn't help but smile. He bet William would accept it.
Ellie faced William's fierce expression and was still a bit scared. She swallowed, clutched the water bottle in her hand, and said, "No, it's water Sarah asked me to give you."
William suddenly lowered his head and laughed. Because they were standing close, he could see the fine hairs on Ellie's face. Her skin looked even better up close, with long eyelashes resembling thick little brushes. When she spoke just now, she seemed to have a faint candy flavor.
The good student really liked candy.
Faced with his sudden closeness, Ellie was stunned. The teenager had just played ball, and there was still sweat on his face, which ran down his prominent Adam's apple and disappeared into his collar.
"So fond of running errands for others, little classmate?"
Ellie met his gaze and pursed her lips without speaking.
William stared at her for a while, then said, "I don't want her water. Give it back to her."
Ellie made a sound of agreement, heard him say, "I want the water you bought," and before she could react, she saw William leave with the ball.
Daniel followed behind William and looked back at Ellie. He couldn't understand why William hadn't accepted it.
No one knew what William had said to Ellie, but such a bad-tempered guy suddenly leaning close to Ellie and laughing was indeed surprising.
Ellie handed the water to Sarah and said, "He didn't accept it."
Sarah said, "Alright, thank you." It was within her expectations that William didn't accept it.
...
William had just come back from outside when he saw a bottle of water on his desk, and Ellie bow her head writing something.
He sat down, picked up the bottle of water, and felt both annoyed and amused, saying to Ellie, "You really bought it?"
Ellie thought he was quite strange and said, "Didn't you say you wanted me to buy water?"
William was amused by her serious expression and said, "I told you to buy, and you bought it. Are you that well-behaved?"
Ellie blinked at him without speaking, her eyes as clear as glass, which made William feel like he was bullying her for no reason.
William said, "I meant I didn't want you to deliver things for others, so I said I wanted your water. Understand?"
"I understand," Ellie said, then turned back to her homework.
William didn't know if she really got it.
Did it matter if she got it or not?
William took out his phone and opened his matching game.
"William, play a game? Let's start a five-man team in King of Glory," Daniel turned to William.
"No."
"Alright, William," Daniel noticed the water on William's desk.
They hadn't bought water with William just now, so where did this water come from... Could it be from William's sweetheart?
William had refused Ellie's water outside today.
His newly shipped couple was over before it began.
"Ellie."
Ellie stopped writing, looked at William, and said, "What's up?"
William said, "The water today, Sarah didn't force you to deliver it, did she?"
Ellie shook her head, then seriously said, "She didn't force me. She said you definitely wouldn't accept it if she delivered it, so she asked me to help. I wanted to say that you definitely wouldn't accept it if I delivered it either, but since she asked me, I agreed."
William looked at her serious response, like a primary school student, and found it somewhat amusing.
Really well-behaved.
Agreed just because someone asked.
Ellie looked at him and suddenly said, "Don't you like Sarah?"
William made a sound of agreement.
Ellie then said, "Alright."
William inexplicably heard a hint of regret in her "alright."
