Logan sat at his desk looking at documents when his office door was pushed open.
Vivian placed a cup of coffee on the table and then said, "Brother Liang, this is freshly brewed coffee."
Without lifting his head, Logan replied, "Mm, put it there."
Vivian did not leave but sat opposite Logan and said, "Are the documents that interesting?"
Logan looked up at her and noticed that she had taken off her outer jacket at some point. She was wearing a black lace mini skirt with a hollowed-out design on the chest, half-hidden and half-revealed, showing an alluring curve. The waist was designed to accentuate her slim figure, and the skirt was just short enough to reach the top of her thighs.
Logan felt his focus suddenly converge in one place, and for a moment, he could no longer concentrate on the documents in his hands. He discarded the documents.
Logan got up and locked the office door.
Vivian's face looked pitiful, and with her attire, she was even more irresistible. Her hand reached for Logan's belt buckle and then smoothly hooked onto the button on his chest.
Logan directly picked her up and placed her on the desk, gripping her chin and kissing her.
Logan changed positions and held her against the floor-to-ceiling window.
"Someone can see from below, Brother Liang~No~"
"We're on the thirtieth floor; no one can see."
...
Scarlett lay in the bathtub and then closed her eyes.
It wasn't until the water in the tub had cooled that she stood up, dried herself, and put on a robe.
Her phone rang incessantly.
Scarlett slid to answer the call.
"Transfer three hundred thousand yuan to me."
Scarlett paused for a moment and said, "Didn't I just send you money recently? Why are you asking for money again?"
"You sent how much money last time? It's already spent. Your brother is getting married now and is short of three hundred thousand yuan. Hurry up and transfer it to me."
Scarlett said, "I don't have money, Mom."
"No money? How is that possible? You married into the Liang family; how could you not have money? Alright, you don't even have me, your own mother, in your eyes. My words mean nothing to you now. You won't even lend me money. Are you trying to drive me to my death? Are you trying to drive me to my death?"
"..."
"Why am I so miserable? I raised such an ungrateful child. Married a wealthy husband, yet I have to watch my own brother not be able to afford a wife. You really have a heart of stone. How could you be so cruel! How could I have given birth to such a daughter?"
"His marriage, you know it's his marriage. What does his marriage have to do with me? Why should I pay for his marriage? Haven't you taken enough money from me? Isn't the living expenses I send you every month enough? What do you want from me? What do you want me to do?" Scarlett almost shouted her last sentence.
"Then consider it a mother's plea. Lend me one hundred thousand yuan so your brother can get married, okay?"
Scarlett said, "I don't have money. I've said it many times, I don't have money. Stop calling me. I will send you the living expenses on time."
"If you don't give me money, then I'll go ask my son-in-law for it." Muriel said, since Scarlett wouldn't give it, Logan would.
Hearing Muriel was going to call Logan, Scarlett compromised, "Give me some time, and I will transfer the money to your card. Stop calling me."
After hanging up the phone, Scarlett leaned on the sofa and went through her entire phone contacts, only to find that she actually didn't have many numbers she could call to borrow money.
Over the years, Logan had provided her with material wealth, but she couldn't fit into the circle of wealthy wives, so she stopped trying. After a few years of marriage, the gentlemanly and considerate demeanor displayed towards her made those wealthy wives take her seriously again.
However, it was mostly hypocritical interactions and flattery.
After hesitating for a long time, she dialed a number of a wife she often gathered with, and the call was answered quickly.
"Hello, Mrs. Wang."
"What's up, Scarlett?"
Scarlett hesitated for a moment and said, "Can I borrow some money from you?"
The woman on the other end obviously laughed and then feigned surprise, saying, "Borrow money? Your husband is so wealthy; why would you ask me for money?"
Scarlett was silent for a while, and then she heard the woman continue, "Hahaha, you don't think I really want to associate with you, do you? It's all because of your husband. Now everyone in our circle knows that you and Logan are getting a divorce. Without Logan, what do you amount to?"
The woman's tone was slightly mocking, and Scarlett hung up the phone in silence.
When she married Philip, her family strongly disagreed. Philip was indeed good to her and often helped the Shen family financially, which made Muriel look at Philip more favorably.
Later, when Philip's business grew, Muriel accepted Philip as her son-in-law and bragged to her old sisters about her daughter marrying a wealthy husband.
Then Philip went bankrupt, and Scarlett divorced him directly. Muriel scolded her for being heartless, saying she didn't want the child she had with Philip and that Philip could still make a comeback since he used to earn so much money, it was just that he was cheated.
Scarlett didn't want to accompany him through those hard times and didn't want to bring along a child, so she married Logan, whose family was well-off, something Philip couldn't compare to. Only then did Muriel smile more and say that her previous choice was correct; if she had brought a boy, she wouldn't have been able to marry into such a family.
Over the years, Muriel hadn't taken less money from her, not only demanding monthly living expenses but also asking for more and more money each time, from hundreds and thousands at the beginning to tens of thousands later.
In their eyes, Logan was a big boss who owned a company and had an unknown amount of money; this money was just a drop in the ocean for them.
If she told Muriel now that Logan had an affair and that she was going to divorce Logan, she could imagine the ugly words Muriel would use to scold her.
Either telling her to endure and not divorce or scolding her for making the wrong choice before, leaving Philip and her son to marry the wrong person, and that she deserved to be treated badly.
Scarlett sat on the sofa, feeling like she was about to collapse.
A person came to her mind, and she opened her phone and dialed a number.
