William returned to the class, and Daniel was surprised: "William, didn't Director He take you to the office for a talk? Why are you back so soon?"
"Shut up, going to sleep."
Daniel turned back, thinking that William was as grumpy as ever, probably annoyed by being scolded by Director He.
He silently sympathized with William for three seconds in his heart.
It was only three seconds, after all, William didn't need his sympathy.
After chemotherapy.
Ellie was helped by Jennifer to the restroom, where she vomited for a long time.
Her lips were unnaturally pale, and her body was so thin it seemed she could die at any moment.
Jennifer held her thin arm, her eyes red-rimmed. Ellie had always been thin, but after getting sick, she became even more frail.
Lying in the hospital bed, Ellie felt her eyelids were heavy.
"Ellie, how about we don't go to school anymore?"
"I want to go."
After Ellie fell asleep, Jennifer spoke with the doctor to understand her current condition.
It was a female doctor. She looked at the little girl on the hospital bed and also felt a bit regretful. She said, "She didn't have a severe reaction to this chemotherapy, but I still suggest she go home and take a leave of absence. Her condition is not suitable for staying in school at all."
"I said I wanted her to go home and rest, but she said she wanted to go, otherwise she would regret it."
The doctor sighed, patted Jennifer on the shoulder, and said, "The next chemotherapy session is in two weeks."
Jennifer stayed by the bedside, looking at Ellie's sleeping profile, and reached out to touch her.
Ellie didn't wake up until the next morning. Every time after chemotherapy, she vomited violently and then slept until the next day. Two days later, on Sunday, Ellie was discharged from the hospital.
Jennifer wanted her to stay in the hospital for a few more days, but Ellie said she was fine and could handle it.
The usually strict Edward didn't say anything either. Let her do whatever she wanted, as long as she was happy.
The two originally thought that making more money could make Ellie live a better life, but now they realized that some things simply couldn't be bought with money.
They regretted missing out on a lot of companionship with Ellie, and it was because they were absent that her illness was not discovered until the advanced stage.
On Monday.
Ellie looked at herself in the mirror. Her lips were very pale, and she looked very weak. She took out a lipstick from the drawer and applied a little, which made her look a bit better.
Today was the day to raise the national flag.
Ellie, wearing her school uniform, stood in line. She listened to the director read out the names of students who had violated rules and regulations last week and heard her deskmate's name. She looked up.
William wasn't wearing his school uniform today. In a black t-shirt, he looked even colder. He stood there with an air of unapproachability, listening to the director's criticism as if it were about someone else.
"William, are you even listening to me? You've violated rules and regulations more than once. How can you justify your parents' efforts? Your parents didn't send you to school to fight and skip classes all day. If you don't study hard, how will you support yourself in the future?"
"Inherit the family business?"
The director was so angry his face turned green, and everyone below laughed.
Daniel clicked his tongue: "William is really something; Director He is about to explode."
"Stop being sarcastic and read your self-criticism."
William took out a crumpled note from his pocket, his voice flat: "I shouldn't have hit Bin just because I felt like he deserved it. I should reform and start over. Although, Bin really deserved it."
Everyone laughed again.
Director He pointed at him and said, "What kind of thing did you write? I don't think you have deeply reflected on yourself. Go back and rewrite it."
William made a sound of agreement and went down. As he passed her, he glanced at her and quickly passed by.
Ellie suddenly remembered the first day at school when she didn't have a book, and William threw his book on her desk and stood outside, speaking up for her. A few days ago, she saw him fighting, and he asked if she was scared.
He doesn't seem as fierce as he appears to be on the surface.
In the first class, William was playing games and sleeping.
Ellie took a peek, and he was actually playing a boring little game like Happy Eliminating Block Games.
He only woke up in the second class when Ellie saw the figure of the English teacher.
No matter how Mr. Thompson talked passionately on the podium, he still didn't seem to listen.
Mr. Thompson mentioned a piece of knowledge, "William, stand up and answer the question."
William stood up without even listening to what he was asked and directly said, "I don't know."
Mr. Thompson was so angry he got a headache and turned his gaze to Ellie, saying, "Deskmate, answer for him."
After listening to Ellie's answer, Mr. Thompson's anger subsided a bit, and he said, "Both sit down."
Chinese class was the most chaotic class in the class, with note-passing, talking, and novel-reading.
Everyone was doing something, but no one was studying.
One reason is that many people think there's no need to study Chinese; the scores are about the same whether they study or not. The other reason is that the Chinese teacher for Class 3 is not strict.
Miss Clark looked at the student smoking in the back and said, "Lucas, have you studied too much that your brain's motherboard is fried?"
Lucas raised his head from the book and said, "How did you know, teacher?"
Miss Clark took away his book and said, "Go stand on the podium and eat. Come down after you're finished."
Lucas sat on the podium eating a self-heating hot pot, making "sssslurp sssslurp" sounds, so spicy that his face was sweating.
Miss Clark handed him a piece of paper and said, "Hot, right?"
"How did you know I desperately wanted a piece of paper?"
"Get out and stand."
Lucas wiped his mouth and said, "Alright, I'm going."
Class was over, and the class was noisy and chaotic.
A mineral water bottle came from somewhere and hit Ellie's head, making a clear sound.
She picked up the bottle, put it on the table, rubbed her head, and didn't take it to heart.
The people in front were still laughing and making noise.
William suddenly kicked the table and shouted, "It's so noisy, don't you apologize for hitting someone? Are your eyes just for show?"
The class immediately quieted down, and everyone knew William was angry and didn't dare to speak.
A boy came over and said, "I'm sorry, new classmate, I didn't mean it. We were just playing, and I didn't know the bottle hit you. I'm really sorry."
"It's okay, you didn't mean it."
The boy went back to his seat and whispered to his deskmate, "Wow, the new classmate is really gentle, looks good, and even better up close. William is really fierce. When he looked at me just now, I didn't dare to speak."
His deskmate immediately agreed, "Yeah, he was really fierce just now, and I didn't dare to say a word."
It wasn't until William lay back down on the table to sleep that people in the class started whispering again.
Some people whispered that William might like Ellie. Ellie doesn't seem to belong to their class. She has good grades, is excessively well-behaved, and looks incredibly sweet. So, William likes this type.
Others said that it was the bottle-throwing that disturbed William, which is why he stood up for the new student.
Ellie looked at the sleeping William and thought he really wasn't as fierce as he seemed on the surface.
Seems quite nice.
William suddenly sat up and cursed, "Daniel, if you keep talking, I'll cut out your tongue."
Daniel covered his mouth.
Ellie decided to take back her previous thoughts.
