Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Warehouse Fire

Lin Shi casually flipped through the booklet, discovering it to be an illustrated manual with a small figure demonstrating various poses. It looked very much like a martial arts manual. As he read on, his expression grew increasingly serious, even showing a hint of disbelief. The movements in the book were surprisingly similar to those of "Resonance," a practice he was familiar with! This revelation left Lin Shi stunned. He immediately jumped off the bed and began practicing the moves as depicted. After some practice, he realized that while these actions did resemble "Resonance," they were far more intricate and challenging to master. Thanks to his experience from a previous life and recent physical conditioning, he managed to perform them. With each breath, the movements flowed naturally, seeming to follow a subtle rhythm. By the end of the first cycle, despite being drenched in sweat, Lin Shi's breathing remained steady, and he felt a warm, comforting sensation throughout his body. The effects were several times more pronounced than what "Resonance" could offer!

Lin Shi picked up the dirty little booklet again, noticing the title "Health Preservation Formula" written on its cover, which seemed to have been added later; the original title had likely worn off. This was no ordinary health guide! If not for his firsthand experience of the apocalypse, he might have dismissed it as just another cheaply produced "martial arts secret." But now, he knew it was priceless! When the mysterious substance unique to the post-apocalyptic world appeared, this technique would unleash its full potential!

At the same time, Lin Shi found himself pondering. "Resonance" was said to have been developed in the sixth year after the apocalypse, a joint effort by scientists and martial artists. Could the stories be inaccurate? Or perhaps, the narrative was a smokescreen orchestrated by official shelters? Nevertheless, his gut feeling told him that the emergence of "Resonance" must be connected to this very manual. Now that he possessed this precious knowledge, could it alter the future? After a moment's thought, Lin Shi decided not to dwell on it. Even if it changed the future, that wasn't something he needed to worry about right now. Besides, there was another person who knew about this technique: the Taoist.

After waking up and completing his practice of the "Health Preservation Formula," Lin Shi learned that Liao Peng had already gathered a team to start work at the old temple site. After breakfast, he headed over to the site. Two excavators were clearing the ruins. Upon finding Liao Peng, Lin Shi handed him the design plans he had drawn up the night before, explaining the key points. Liao Peng assured him that he would consult engineers to refine the designs and mentioned that there was already a well on the site, buried under the rubble.

Over the next few days, Lin Shi stayed in Shashi, busy ordering construction materials and discussing the shelter's design with engineers. In his free time, he continued practicing the "Health Preservation Formula," and within a few days, his physical strength had improved significantly. With Lin Shi's generous funding, the old temple ruins had been completely cleared, replaced by a spacious and deep foundation pit. The basement had been dug out, and the next step was to begin construction. Everything was proceeding smoothly.

However, in the early hours of March 22nd, an urgent call interrupted everything. It was from the warehouse manager, his voice filled with panic: "Boss, the warehouse is on fire!" Lin Shi frowned, asking, "How did it start? What's the damage?" The manager replied that he didn't know the cause, but fortunately, only a small portion of the goods had been burned. Reluctantly, Lin Shi had to put aside his current tasks, handing everything over to Liao Peng, and took the earliest flight back to Haishi.

As soon as he landed and turned on his phone, Lin Shi saw numerous missed calls, all from the warehouse manager. When he tried calling back, no one answered. Checking the weather forecast, he found that Haishi had been experiencing rain for the past two days. How could a fire break out in such weather? Arriving at the warehouse, he heard loud shouting inside: "Get everything out of here!" "You can't do this! Our boss will be here soon!" It was the warehouse manager's voice. Several people were carrying boxes out, and it was raining heavily outside, with some items that couldn't get wet.

"What are you doing?" Lin Shi stood at the warehouse entrance, his cold gaze sweeping over the people preparing to leave. They stopped, intimidated by his presence.

"Who are you? Who gave you permission to touch my things?" Lin Shi demanded sternly.

A thin middle-aged man approached, looking Lin Shi up and down. "So, you're Lin Shi, huh?" Without waiting for a response, he pointed at himself. "From today, I'm renting this warehouse. Kid, you burned the landlord's property, and they don't want to rent to you anymore. If you know what's good for you, take your stuff and leave."

The warehouse manager, indignant, protested, "Even if we need to move, you should give us some time. I told you our boss would be here soon, but you couldn't wait?"

"Now, the warehouse is mine, and your things are taking up my space. I have every right to deal with them," the thin man said, indifferent, making the manager seethe with anger.

Lin Shi narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing across them. "According to the contract, the lease hasn't expired. Whether or not it renews isn't up to you. Have the landlord come with the breach of contract fee to talk to me. You have one minute to leave my premises."

"Oh, you're quite the tough guy for someone so young. I was already in the game when you were still in diapers!" The thin man sneered, reaching out to push Lin Shi away.

But Lin Shi swiftly grabbed the man's wrist, twisting it sharply!
