But all of this was just Lin Shi's speculation. His original intention was simply to survive the apocalypse, and no matter what the reason, since he had been given a second chance at life, he intended to live it to the fullest. Only by surviving could he uncover more clues about this disaster! If his conjecture was correct, and every time all species were wiped out, the apocalypse would reset, then as the only one aware of this, perhaps he truly needed to do something. After all, no one knew how many times such a reset could occur. If this was the last chance, would Blue Planet become a lifeless sphere like other planets in the solar system?
Lin Shi took out his computer, inserted a wireless network card, and went online. He anonymously posted the news about the solar flare eruption. Three months ago, if he had said that an SSS-class solar flare would erupt today, he would have been dismissed as a madman. No one would have believed that he could predict the future. But today, with the event already happening, revealing it along with the speculation about the coming Ice Age made it much more credible. Perhaps some scientist would notice the anomaly with the sun and prompt countries to prepare. And 71 hours later, when all electronic devices would lose their signals, Lin Shi wouldn't be at risk of exposure. He could only hope that someone with the right intentions would find his post.
Lin Shi closed his laptop, removed the network card, and returned it to the space. The rest, he could only leave to fate. He tried to communicate with the Treasure Basin, but there was no response. To avoid another situation where he couldn't sense the space, Lin Shi took out a portion of each item from the space and placed them in the basement of the shelter.
The next day, the countdown in the upper right corner had dropped to 47 hours. Watching the apocalypse approach was painful. Lin Shi could only keep practicing the "Health Preservation Formula" to maintain his composure. However, his peace was soon disrupted by a group of uninvited guests. A tractor pulled up outside Lin Shi's shelter. The shelter had no windows, so Lin Shi had installed a camera on the exterior to monitor the surroundings. Four people got off the tractor and began to examine the shelter. They were still discussing who should knock on the door when Lin Shi opened it and stepped out.
The middle-aged woman among them peered through the crack in the door, her eyes bulging as if she wanted to see inside. However, there was another door inside, and even if she strained her eyes, she couldn't see anything.
"What is it?" Lin Shi glanced over the four visitors. There was a woman in her forties or fifties, an elderly man with a cane, a farmer in his thirties, and a woman in her twenties. They were also looking at Lin Shi with different expressions. Since a villager and a construction worker had learned that the spherical structure on the hilltop cost several million, everyone in the village knew that Lin Shi was wealthy.
The farmer, Li Qiang, spoke first: "Young brother, your spherical structure has disrupted the feng shui of our village. Recently, several of our chickens and ducks have died. What are you going to do about this?"
Lin Shi looked toward a grove of trees: "What does the death of your chickens and ducks have to do with me?"
The middle-aged woman, Aunt Li, put her hands on her hips and glared at Lin Shi: "How can it not be related? Ever since you built this sphere, our chickens and ducks started dying. In a few days, people might start dying too!"
Lin Shi snorted; these villagers were good at finding excuses. Unfortunately for them, they hit the nail on the head—people would indeed start dying in a few days. "Then why don't you move away? It might be too late, and your entire village could die."
Rural people were superstitious, and Lin Shi's words infuriated the four. "Hey, you little brat, why are you so wicked?! How dare you curse us?!" Aunt Li pointed at Lin Shi and scolded him.
"You punk! What did you say?!" Li Qiang's eyes flashed with anger, and he swung his large hand toward Lin Shi's face. It seemed reckless, but it was part of their plan. Young people were easily intimidated, and a slap would make them compliant. With the old, weak, and women on their side, they could easily fabricate charges against Lin Shi and not worry about him calling the police.
The others imagined Lin Shi being stunned by the slap. "Slap!" The sound of the slap was louder than they expected. What truly shocked them was that the one who received the slap was not Lin Shi, but Li Qiang!
Lin Shi grabbed Li Qiang's hand and slapped him back. Li Qiang was dazed, his mind buzzing, and his face swelling visibly. The four of them clearly hadn't expected Lin Shi to be so bold, daring to fight back against four people. And for someone so young, his strength was surprising!
Seeing her son being hit, the elderly man, Old Li, used his cane to strike Lin Shi, relying on his age. Lin Shi nimbly dodged the cane. Old Li's eyes rolled, and he let out a fake cry of pain, falling to the ground and closing his eyes. This was the signal to initiate the second plan.
"Dad? What's wrong, Dad?!" Li Cuicui immediately reacted, glaring at Lin Shi: "You hit my dad?!"
"I didn't even touch him," Lin Shi said coldly, glancing at Old Li, whose eyelids were fluttering as he lay on the ground. "All four of us saw it!! You can't deny it!"
Aunt Li knelt in front of the elderly man, holding his body, and wailed, "City people bullying us country folks~ If my husband dies, I'll crash into this iron ball and die too~"
Li Cuicui also started to sob: "My father was already in poor health, what are we going to do now?"
"Compensation! Pay us fifty thousand yuan, and we'll let it go!" Li Qiang, clutching his face, clenched his fists, ready to fight Lin Shi if he refused.
Aunt Li threatened, "If you don't pay, we'll call the security guards and expose you to the media!"
"Fine." Lin Shi said. The three of them were pleased, thinking Lin Shi had agreed. But Lin Shi added, "Go ahead and call the police."
Calling the police was out of the question. Seeing that Lin Shi was unyielding, Li Qiang glared at him menacingly: "If you don't pay, you'll have to compensate with your life!!" He couldn't let that slap go unpunished and ran to the tractor to grab a woodcutting knife.
"Hold on." Lin Shi made a thoughtful expression, walked around Old Li twice, as if examining his condition. In reality, Lin Shi could call the police, as he had surveillance on his door, and these people couldn't do much to him. But the incident with Li Duoyu and the security guard had left him with a bad impression of the security office. There were several ways to deal with these four, and Lin Shi chose the most cathartic one.
Aunt Li, Li Qiang, and Li Cuicui exchanged a triumphant look, thinking Lin Shi was scared. Li Qiang felt smug: As expected, a student in his twenties, a bit of intimidation, and he caved in.
Suddenly, Lin Shi stomped on Old Li's hand, which was lying on the ground. "Ah!!" Old Li screamed, opening his eyes.
Lin Shi turned to Li Qiang, who was still in shock, and said, "I brought your dad back to life. Now you don't need to take a life, right?"
