Synopsis
Sometimes certain occurrences are not as simple as destiny or fate. Fate is as simple as decisions and it's outcomes so it's typically possible for you to have your fate in your hands and it's possible for you to influence the fate of your family and the people around you take for example the fact that when you decide to give birth and the way you decide to train your kids and the kind of partner you choose goes a long way in affecting the fate of your children. There are certain aspects of your fate that can never be in your control tho which is life and death as you can never personally decide when you want to grace this world with your presence nor when you want to depart or how for that matter. Some might wonder why I have this much understanding of fate given that it's a vague concept well let's just say fate destroyed my life we can also say fate made my life.

25th May 2023

It was raining in the whole of South London the rain adding a kind of safety to the otherwise unsafe neighborhood. Remi Martens was currently trekking alongside the road braving the rather harsh London rain. He kept walking aimlessly as he shows a dead expression on his face typical of a person who no longer have any reason whatsoever to live in this world but despite the dead and hopeless expression on his rather malnourished face a plethora of thoughts were running through his mind...."where have I gotten it wrong" he thought with a painful expression now showing on his previously dead countenance.

Remi was the son of a Nigerian multimillionaire business man based in London called Remi Evans. He was the only son of the family of four in which his sister as well is the only female child in the family. It all started when his dad started having an affair with another woman which drove a wedge in to his previously caring and united family. His parents started to quarrel and disagree on basically everything they used to find a way to agree on, the family of four losing it's usually peaceful and caring atmosphere taking on a gloomy one instead. The situation in the family went from bad to worse when his mother fiona who is a typical European woman of American descent started having thoughts of divorce a request to which his father later agreed to and a decision which led to the total demise of his family.

7th August 2005

A day which marked the dawn of the end for the rather young Martens. It was a Sunday a day which his dad who was usually busy scheduled a therapy session for him and his soon to be ex-wife under the advise of whom I heard was a friend and at this point in time his father was now very insecure with him and his sister as he decided that under no condition would he allow his mum to take custody of them which resulted in him making a decision to take him and his sister along with him to the therapy session probably because he was scared that his mom who was not in anyway as caring as she was before the whole fiasco to send someone to claim them while he was gone. And so ignorant of the danger ahead the 7 years old Martens along with his sister Ivy who was only 5years old went with their irreconcilable parents to the therapy session

It all started on the way to the session when Evans once again raised the matter of who was going to be in charge of them after the divorce making it clear to his mom that he does not want his children away from him a statement which fiona loathes and she responded with an unyielding attitude

" Maybe if you had been faithful to your family!...maybe if we had meant a thing to you! we would all be together but Evans we don't mean anything to you these kids don't mean a damn thing to you!, my kids are staying with me and nobody not even you can take them away from me!" she yelled amidst her sobs. Martens was young but he could more or less understand what was going on. He tried to console his mother but his dad wasn't having it

" fiona I don't know what you want me to do or how else you want me to be sorry. It was purely accidental. I drank too much and I'm paying for it my business has crumbled and I'm only struggling to piece everything together my enemies are after me fiona what do you want me to do" he retorted in a clearly noticeable Nigerian accent which he uses when he's pissed off and that was when the argument started with neither my dad nor my mom conceding until Martens said dad in his rather innocent voice which betrayed the maturity that was slowly being displayed on his young face. His dad faced him with an apologetic expression on his tired face only to see him pointing towards the front Evans looked to the front and with an alarmed expression on his face he tried to maneuver the car to the side but it was already too late and an incoming truck rammed into their car which went on to collide into a building at that point everything started becoming blurry to Martens he could hear alarmed voices conversing around until everything went dark.

Three days later Martens woke up in an hospital ward with a deadpan expression on his face until everything registered and as young as he may be he could tell the implications of what has just happened and he started crying his sobs were heard by a nearby doctor who came to console him

" what happened to mom"

"Where is dad"

"Where's ivy"

He asked without waiting for the man to provide him with an answer

"They're all fine" The doctor replied but maybe because Martens was quite mature for his age or maybe the doctor Is not good at lying to kids Martens could tell that something was wrong somewhere

"I want to see them" Martens yelled but the doctor reaffirmed him that they were okay

"If they're okay then let me see the them I wan to see dad, mom and Ivy now please " He said with tears running down his face while the young doctor was trying to persuade him to rest he wasn't having it and he started yelling which alarmed the other hospital personnels but even tho Martens was not critically injured in the accident he was still a bit weak and so he fainted again and the doctor left after sighing for the umpteenth time that day clearly concerned about what the young boy's reaction will be if he's told his parents didn't make it.

A week later Martens could now leave the hospital with his sister who was fine as well. As a result of the collision not affecting the rear part of the vehicle they both sustained light physical injuries but incurable emotional injuries they had been left alone in this cold, harsh world with no support. 2 days prior Martens was told by a rather innocent looking nurse that his parents "were in heaven" a statement to which he asked "they're dead right" to the nurse who was stunned not by the question but by the way Martens reacted to her statement. He was eerily quiet with a nonchalant expression on his face which leaves the nurse wondering whether he was really 7 years old.

On the day they were discharged from the hospital they left with the young doctor who introduced himself as Scholes. He went through all the paper work necessary to adopt the siblings and the little that was left of his father's wealth which had been distributed between the bank to repay his father's debts and his father's family who eventually allowed the both of them to leave with Scholes as they were not all in the uk while promising to always come over to visit him and his sister a promise which he knew was only for appearance sake.

Day turned into weeks, months passed and in the blink of an eye 11 years had passed. Martens was now standing at an Impressive height of 6.3ft with a handsome and prominent face, he had become quite the stunning young man. Scholes was now married with a daughter and Ivy had become quite gorgeous both siblings with African American looks and aesthetics . The whole family were seated at their dining table having dinner when Martens said he wanted to move out of the house the following day as he had finished his secondary school studies and was not interested in furthering his education. Scholes was alarmed and he strongly disagreed but Martens was not willing to listen to him. Scholes became annoyed and he told Martens to leave which he did the following day after consoling Ivy

Martens went on to rent his own place at a cheap neighborhood in South London where he hoped to make something of his life but it was harder than he thought it would be. As time went by Martens did a lot of menial jobs to sustain himself but it was proving difficult to do so, later Martens starts becoming associated with one of the South London gangs which He later joined. He became a criminal and followed them to gang fights hoping to make some money and gradually he lost himself.

....

Back to the present

.....

While running home under the rain after a gang operation Martens was called that his Sister was raped after which she was killed and that was when it all dawned on him the phone dropped from his hands and everything Scholes was saying became indistinct his wounded body turned facing the path to Scholes's place ignoring the fact that the rival gang members that were chasing him were along the same path hoping not to run into them but alas what you hope for is under your control but how you die is not, after running for about two minutes he met the rival gang members head on with a red face he kept running forward ignoring them but somewhere in his heart he knew it was over subconsciously he prayed for the first time to what ever power he thought might be listening.....He was held by 4 men beaten till he couldn't see again but he kept crawling forward until....bam! He was shot In the head inside the cold rain for a split second his life flash through his eyes.....it was over or so he thought....Ivy I'm sorry he said in his heart with deep hatred for himself.....after he died the rain increased in intensity probably grieving the dead family of four. A bolt of scarlet thunder flashed in the London skies a never before seen phenomenon that caused alarm.
