10-year-old reibar was on the back lawn of the medieval stone-built structure of the orphanage, playing with dolo as usual, laughers of children could be heard from inside the building. Dolo was a husky puppy who reibar held dear, as the rest of his siblings were only good at mocking him all day.
Dolo was a friend who a child could rely on spending a good time with, who at least didn't mock him for being ordinary.
"It's time for lunch, everyone gather up". The voice of the headmaster echoed all around the source being unknown.
Time to eat.... it was the worst part of the day for reibar as upon the headmaster's instructions they all needed to sit together for food.
"ok dolo, I am going to eat, I'll be back quick, you stay over here ok? Please don't come inside know how much Father dislikes you at the table" Little Reibar spoke patting the dolo's head.
The dining hall is a spacious, rectangular room with a long, polished wooden table at its centre, seating 14—seven chairs on each side and a larger, ornate head chair at one end. Three entrances connect the space: a double door behind the head chair leading to the headmaster's room, a side door opening to a corridor leading to the dormitories, and another leading to the backyard, from which reibar entered just after hearing the call.
The rest of the children also started coming from the dormitory entrance. One by one.
reibar wanted to get quickly seated but he was still a few steps away from his chair and here his siblings had come already.
Suddenly he felt his weight increasing such as in this instant his weight had doubled! And he was getting sucked into the ground, the little child struggles to maintain to withstand the force.
Of course, he knew it was the doing of his brother Renji. dark blacked hair prodigy child having the ability to control gravity.
Renji could be seen laughing "Yo what happened? Still learning to take your first steps?"
Elina the white-haired sister with blue eyes spoke looking at Renji "Cut it out already, no point in teasing him unless you wanna get scolded again"
Other children talking among themselves not batting an eye about this matter.
Footsteps approaching towards dining hall could be heard now, Renji downed his finger and as soon as reibar felt his body getting back to normal he rushed and jumped on his seat. Rest all 12 children followed calmly each taking their seat.
All chattering stopped, all children's backs perfectly straight.
The double-sided door opened on auto without someone's touch or push.
The man entered all dressed up in 3pc, still looking like in his mid-20s despite having this much pale skin that one would think, does he even have blood inside of him?
"very well …..has someone been teasing our reibar now? " the man asked looking towards Renji, sweat was visible on Renji's forehead now,
"Absolutely not!" he replied at once.
The man snaps his fingers and a full Banquet with multiple ranges of dishes appears on the table out of thin air.
"I hope everyone's classes have been going on smoothly? " the man spoke bringing his chair back and sitting elegantly.
"yes sir" all of their voices synchronized, only the reibar looking down at the table.
What classes would he be taking now? He just fooled around all day doing nothing ... he was not special, unlike his other brothers and sisters. What an ordinary weak kid should be training now for?
The man starts eating and everyone follows.
"reibar please meet me in my study after this"
reibar was shocked, why was he called for? he couldn't think of any subject his father wanted to discuss with him.
After lunch reibar waited in his room for some time and then knocked on the double-sided door from the dining hall.
"Yes please."
To his surprise, the headmaster was holding a sleeping yet calm Dolo in his arms and standing beside his table.
"I told you to get rid of this animal, didn't I? "
Sharp red eyes and long black hair are visible from the formal hat.
"yes.... but he's my friend" the boy spoke with a low tone.
"You are my son, you don't need friends such as this one... you are special" The man started walking towards the little boy and stood right next to him.
His sharp gaze on the 10-year-old Reibar.
The boy looked at the floor...
"I am not special unlike the others they always just tease me, what else I am supposed to do then? "
"grab that knife on the table"
The boy did as instructed and held the knife from the wooden table next to them.
"very well, now I think I should tell you about your ability, you are also my son and I don't want you to get this depressed" the headmaster smirked.
He takes off his right hand from dolo's head slowly, holding the little boy's wrist holding the knife.
"yes, do you want to know about your ability now?"
the boy lifts his head a spark can be seen in those gloomy eyes now,
'What does he mean by knowing your ability? Do I even have one? Really ?' Reibar thought.
As he has been given a chance to stand side by side with his siblings. His little brain was thinking of every possible ability his father was going to tell him.
"my boy for that u have to become strong, I will just show you the path, it's your job to follow it as you like"
reibar was still in his imagination what cool power he was gonna get told about.
He was brought back to reality with a sharp yelp! His hand seems to have gotten wet.
DISBELIEF, DENIAL, his brain was denying to admit what his eyes were seeing. The father had thrust Reibar's hand right into the dolo's chest. The puppy's blood spray was showering into the neat study. The little pup's body has agonal movements. It was just a tenth of a second…..
He quickly removes his hand from the knife inside the puppy's chest, Looking at his hands with disbelief.
THIS AIN'T REAL, RIGHT?!
"my boy your power is you can get the ability of anyone who you hold dear or you know long enough. You need to kill that person yourself though" the headmaster continued his cold gaze still on reibar ignoring his shaking body in fear.
The boy looked at his own bloodied hands still not able to process what had happened here, but one thing was odd, the stench of blood... he could smell it so vividly now as someone had replaced that human nose with that of a dog!
