Martin felt different emotions whelming him as he dashed down the slope. When he reached down the slope he saw a lot of blood. He was anxious about Diana's well-being thus he started following the blood trails. He searched for a while but he didn't see Diana anywhere. 'Where could she have gone to?'
Diana woke up from the severe pain from her belly. She looked down at her protuding stomach that was covered in blood and grew anxious for her unborn child. She remembered walking with so much difficulty when she fell from the slope. After struggling so much she couldn't take it anymore and fell down.
In just a few minutes she heard footsteps approaching her then her body was lifted from the ground and carried in strong arms. She lamented at how unlucky she was and that she will do everything in her power to run away from David. Before the darkness took her she distinctly heard someone reprimanding her fro her foolishness, then she fell unconscious.
Diana heard hurried footsteps coming towards her, she wanted to wake up and try defending herself but she had lost too much blood that she had become as weak as a chick. Two women walked in.
Fiona gasped when she saw that Diana was awake. She hurried over to the dazed Diana and kissed her on her forehead. Diana dazely looked at her mother and couldn't help but cry out bitterly. If she had listened to her mother she wouldn't have gone through all the pain she suffered from her so called husband.
How many times did she try to find her mother? It was to no avail no matter how many times she tried. She then came to realise that David had cut off every possible way for her to be free from his clutches. How many times did she cry because of regret and guilt?
Severe pain went through Diana's belly and she shuddered from it. Her body was riddled with many wounds from her fall just now. Diana heard the other woman speak,
Sandra: "we have to get the baby out or else we are going to loose both of them."
Diana looked at the middle aged woman who had a petite figure. Her eyes were filled with wisdom but also a distinct sharpness that could give someone a chilling feeling. Diana withdrew her gaze and looked at her mother who had become silent.
Diana: "mom what does she mean?"
Fiona held Diana's chin and told her firmly,
Fiona: "Diana there are some things that can't be explained right now but you'll come to understand them with time and I'm hoping that this time you'll accept your destiny. I can't loose you once more and so are our people because we depend on you to do something important therefore the decision has been made. This has to be done in order to save your life."
Diana was frightened at her mother's words because she understood what they actually meant. Her life was more important than her unborn child's. They'll try to save her and not her baby's. Diana was still for a moment without saying or doing anything. Fiona knew that she had accepted their decision.
Fiona nodded her head towards Sandra then Sandra called out and a few more women entered the cave room they surrounded Diana and held her down. Sandra removed the tattered clothes from Diana, then she took a knife and made an incision on Diana's belly.
Diana gritted her teeth as her body shook violently with the pain she felt. A sudden coldness passed through Diana's eyes as she quietly endured the pain. Sandra worked as fast a she could and removed the baby whom was already dead. She removed the placenta then started moving her hands rapidly and runes appeared and started sealing the wound on Diana's belly.
Diana had already fallen unconscious because of the pain thus she didn't see the unusual phenomena. In this age there were rumours of some special people whom had unique features or supernatural powers. These people were few in between but were far more powerful that they could be referred to as gods.
Legend had it that these unique people had decided to withdraw into a secluded place as they were waiting for their king who was the most powerful throughout many generations, to return. When these people left they left a few descendants that were born with normal people but even so, these children still have inherited powers and many of the kings of many kingdoms are said to be their descendants.
Fiona looked at her daughter who had just battled life and death and felt a wrenching pain in her heart. She couldn't bear the thought of what that David had planned for her daughter right from the start. How she wished she could just kill the man but she knew that some things were not for her to decide. Now she'll look after her daughter until she recovers.
