Chapter 2 - KNEEL DOWN AND APOLOGIZE

"I don't want to know," Sophia said with a deliberately cheerful smile, trying to sound carefree.

"But I want to tell you," Joseph chuckled triumphantly. "It's Chairman Chen."

Sophia felt a surge of anger at Joseph's smug expression. She desperately wanted to know who it was so she could get revenge, but she couldn't let Joseph see her true intentions or he wouldn't tell her the truth.

So she decided to use reverse psychology on him, knowing that it would work on someone as arrogant as Joseph.

To her surprise, Joseph fell for it and revealed the truth.

Just wait and see, she thought. She would make sure both Chairman Chen and Joseph would pay for their betrayal."You think you can marry me? I won't marry you!" Sophia sneered, not bothering to hide her contempt for Joseph. "I came here today to tell you that I'm breaking up with you. Cancel the wedding, and let your precious Harper attend it instead."

Joseph was stunned. He had been dumped before he could even dump her?

After speaking, Sophia turned around and was about to leave.

A few days ago, as an ordinary employee, she was suddenly chosen by Mia, the chairman of the Mu Group, to be his wife.

As for her family, well...

Despite having four children, her parents favored her older siblings and younger brother.

Her marriage could provide her entire family with a worry-free life for the rest of their days.

And so, for the benefits offered by Mia, her mother easily pushed her towards Joseph.Last night, when she was at a loss and sought her mother's help after being manipulated, she overheard a late-night conversation between her parents outside her room.

It was then that she realized that she was nothing more than a cash cow to her family.

People are selfish, and her own family had easily sold her out for wealth. Why couldn't she be selfish for once and live for herself?

This time, she would live for herself and would not tolerate being humiliated by Joseph any longer!

"Sophia!" Joseph was furious when he saw Sophia leaving so calmly. "If you leave me, your family will lose all the benefits that the Garcia Family has given them!"

Sophia turned around and looked at the enraged Joseph, saying clearly, "What does that have to do with me?"

"If you don't marry me, my mother won't let you off the hook," Joseph's eyes were filled with anger. "As for a woman I don't want, no one in the entire River City will dare to take you."

"Put away your arrogance," Sophia laughed at Joseph. "The whole River City doesn't belong to your Garcia Family. I can still get married even if I don't marry you!"

"Is that so?" Joseph sneered. He looked at Sophia with an inscrutable expression and said, "Let's make a bet. I'll give you two days. If you can get married within these two days, I'll take care of my mother's business with you."

"But if you can't get married within two days, you must attend the wedding the day after tomorrow and obey my every command. Otherwise, you'll never have a peaceful life again."

"Are you threatening me?" Sophia's eyes were filled with anger.

"Yes, I am," Joseph raised his eyebrows arrogantly. "Do you dare to accept the challenge?"Sophia hated Joseph to the bone, and she wouldn't let him get away with what he had done to her.

But for now, she had to get rid of the Garcia Family.

Joseph was right. His mother, Mia, was a strong and powerful woman who wouldn't let her go easily.

Therefore, Sophia had to take a different path to start a new life.

"You're ruthless enough!" Sophia stared straight at Joseph with sharp eyes. "But how do I know if you'll keep your word?"

He sneered and picked up the phone on the table, pressing the record button.

"I made a bet with Joseph and Sophia. If Sophia can find someone who dares to marry my fiancée within two days, she doesn't have to attend the wedding the day after tomorrow, and I will also handle the aftermath with my mother. From then on, I will cut off all ties with her. This video will serve as proof."

In the next moment, Sophia's phone vibrated. She opened it and saw the message that Joseph had just recorded as proof in front of her.

She challenged him, "If I can get married within two days, then the Garcia Family will have nothing to do with me and you. Will you kneel down and apologize for your scheme against me? Do you dare?"

"Good, it's a deal."

He wouldn't lose. He would make Sophia his slave for life!

"Joseph, I will watch you kneel in front of me and apologize. Just wait and see!"

She would make him pay for his scheme and humiliation.

The next day was unusually gloomy, with dark clouds pressing down as if a storm was about to break.

Sophia wore a moon-white off-the-shoulder gown, her long hair falling gently on her shoulders, and her delicate face adorned with exquisite makeup, making her stunningly beautiful.

Her gaze fell on a man sitting in the corner by the window, and she walked straight over to sit down.

He had black short hair, a cold and handsome face with sharp edges, and a pair of narrow and deep black phoenix eyes that exuded a cool aura.

With thin lips slightly pursed, he looked even more slender in his custom-made black suit, exuding a noble and sharp aura that demanded attention, yet also a cold and aloof detachment.

His long and bony fingers tapped on the keyboard of his laptop, pausing briefly as his cool gaze flickered over to Sophia.

The next second, his eyes returned to the screen, ignoring her presence.Sophia stared at the man before her, sensing his arrogance and sharpness, making her feel unworthy of him.

But she was determined to win him over.

Without a word, she placed the black folder she was holding on the table and opened it, using her slender fingers to push the documents towards his right hand.

The man didn't even glance at the folder, his attention solely focused on his laptop. Then, he closed it and stood up.

Sophia panicked at his sudden departure, forcing a smile on her face. "I believe Master Miller would be interested in this file. Would you take a look?"

Robert, the CEO of the Miller Family Group, was a decisive and strategic leader, wealthy and powerful, and also a god-like figure in River City.

Sophia had spent a long time searching for the perfect man to marry, and Robert was the one.

For Joseph, Sophia didn't trust him, so she chose someone who could suppress the Garcia Family.

And this time, the marriage was in her hands, at least she wouldn't be humiliated.

She had thought countless times about how to approach him and how to make him stay and talk to her happily.

But when she saw him, she didn't know if it was because of his strong aura, she couldn't say a word of flattery, and simply stated her purpose.

Robert's cold eyes glanced at the files beside him.

He looked up and calmly assessed Sophia, whose eyes carried a faint smile, but also had the power to see through people's hearts.

"I'm not interested in stolen goods," his cold and magnetic voice said.

"Can Master Miller guarantee that there is no hacker in the Miller Family Group? I don't think so. Otherwise, Master Miller would be paying thieves' salaries."

Robert's eyes fixed on Sophia for a moment, and his thin lips parted slightly. "This energy cooperation data belongs to the Mu Group. No matter what you offer me in exchange for this contract, I'm not interested."

With that, he was about to leave.

"Master Miller..." At this moment, assistant David rushed over, his eyes showing surprise and complexity when he saw Sophia. "We found all the data from that night."

After listening to David, Robert's phoenix eyes became even deeper. He quickly took the file from David's hand and opened it. When he saw the contents, he couldn't help but look at Sophia sitting opposite him.

Sophia was trying to stop Robert from leaving, but before she could say anything, she saw Robert's phoenix eyes staring at her with a sharp and unfathomable gaze.

She smiled lightly on the surface, but her heart was in turmoil.

Did she say something wrong?

No, she didn't.

She had carefully considered every word she had just said. She wouldn't offend someone like Robert, a big shot. Otherwise, he could kill her as easily as stepping on an ant.

In the next moment, Robert put the computer on the table and turned to the corner opposite.

David quickly followed him and respectfully said, "The one who tampered with your drink that night was Madam's goddaughter Anna. She has always wanted to marry you, as you know."

"As a result, Madam felt unwell that night and asked Miss Anna to stay by her side, so she didn't let her leave."

"As for Sophia, she was sent to the room of the chairman of the Chen Group by her fiancé's scheme. But the room number was one digit off, so she was sent to your room by mistake. She still doesn't know that the man that night was you."

"The chairman of the Chen Group also said so himself, and I was there. He was still being controlled. May I ask..."

"Ruined." Robert didn't wait for David to finish speaking before he threw the file at him and walked over to sit in front of Sophia.

At this moment, his hands clenched into fists under the table, suppressing his emotions.

It was her that night!

Sophia was afraid that Robert would leave, but she felt a little relieved when she saw him put down his computer.

"So it was you that night!" Robert's deep gaze fixed on Sophia.
