The warehouse appeared around them, dimly lit by flickering overhead lights. The air smelled faintly of oil and damp concrete, every creak of the metal walls amplifying Scarlett's unease. Nathan's hand brushed hers as they walked deeper into the hollow space, their footsteps echoing ominously.
Scarlett clutched the ledger tighter, her pulse quickening. She whispered.
"I don't trust this, Nathan."
"Neither do I," he murmured, his gaze scanning every shadow. "just Stay alert."
...…..
Elias led the way, his calm demeanor unshaken. "You're safe here," he said putting a hand over Nathans shoulder, his voice measured.
"But we need to talk. This ledger is more than just a weapon against Grayson. It's a doorway to something bigger."
Scarlett stopped in her tracks. "What do you mean, 'something bigger'? I've had enough of riddles." She snapped at him angrily as she approached him but Nathan held her back.
